It seems to be a Japanese indie version of Devo. <Mr. Uehara of ASTRO NOTE> The members are three; Pevo #1, Pevo #2, Pevo #3, and they are the band from Planet Pevo. They play the instruments of Planet Pevo. The catch copy of the first album was "Here comes the techno alien Pevo.", and the jacket has the illustration of the three with Devo-ish hats. The lyrics are Pevo language with heavy Japanese accents and the jacket has mini dictionary of Pevo language. The sound is exactly techno pop and very unique. As it was produced by Susumu Hirasawa, this is a novelty which the entertaining mind of Hirasawa created.

Hirasawa's yodeling, while owing a great deal to traditional Alpean stylings, originated from the Kiyari songs sung by the Edo firefighters. Hirasawa was a fan of the yodeler Andore Anī (アンドレ・アニー) and, around the time he was trying the make Monster, was listening the compilation Alps Yodel.

In 1972, while enrolled at Tokyo Designer Gakuin College, he formed Mandrake, a progressive rock band that incorporated elements from heavy metal and krautrock. One of the few Japanese progressive rock bands of its time, Mandrake achieved little success and released no albums during its lifetime. After discovering punk rock and learning to use synthesizers, Hirasawa felt that progressive rock became just entertainment and decided to reform the band as an electropunk unit.[1]

In January 1, 1979, Mandrake became the new wave band P-Model. Appearing during a "technopop boom", the band achieved commercial success with their debut album In a Model Room and the chart-topping Landsale.[2] P-Model spent the following years making decidedly uncommercial post-punk and going through various lineups, all featuring Hirasawa. The 1984 cassette book Scuba reached number 1 at Original Confidence's chart for the format at a time when the band was popular on the Japanese independent music scene.[3] The group kept operating until 1988, when Hirasawa decided to "freeze" it.

Following P-Model's "freezing", Susumu Hirasawa started his solo career, releasing three albums from 1989 to 1991. Working outside of the restraints of a band, his early solo career was marked by a refusal to stick to any particular genre. In September 1991, P-Model was "defrosted", featuring a revamped lineup. Hirasawa worked with the band while concurrently making side albums solo. The "defrosted" version of P-Model ended in October 1993, when it was put into "revision". Hirasawa relaunched his solo career in 1994 with the "second debut" Aurora and later that year launched a "Revised" P-Model

, and were paraded by the media as one of "The Big Three of Techno", alongside Hikashu and Plastics. After two decidedly uncommercial albums and the departure of keyboardist Yasumi Tanaka in 1983, P-Model went through various membership changes and released the concept album

Hirasawa rerecorded "Happening by the Windowsill" as songwriting practice for his solo career, bringing himself closer to the genre he'd abandoned a decade earlier. Because of this, Yasuhiro Nakano described Hirasawa's solo music as "modern progre" in the liner notes of unreleased materials vol.1.

he also took to untying his other outlets from P-Model; he changed the names of his management office from "Model House" to "Octave" and (a month after the album's release) of his official fanclub from "Moire Club" to "Hirasawa Bypass" (Moire Club's newsletter's 12th and last issue was dedicated to P-Model's end, detailing the history of the band, reporting on their last show and listing what the other members would do after the band's end; Hirasawa Bypass' 1st, on the other hand, was dedicated to Water in Time and Space, detailing its recording, the support tour and Hirasawa's solo backing band[4])

from the WiTas press release: 平沢とデュエットする戸川純が、ニーナ・ハーゲンのように可愛く、妖しい。

On a 1994 trip to the Thai city of Phuket, Hirasawa went through a “Thai Shock”, amazed by the country’s culture. The event that marked him the most there was his attendance of the Simon Cabaret, whose performance staff consists entirely of transsexual performers. For years he called them “Kathoey” or “Shemales”, but in 2005 switched to the term “SP-2”, a shortening of “Saopraphetson” (สาวประเภทสอง), rendered in Japanese as 第二の女性, since the former words were discriminatory. Deeply interested by what he experienced, Hirasawa would travel to the city once every three months in the mid-90s, spending most of his time with the SP-2. This translated to his work receiving a heavy influence of Southeast Asian themes and instrumentality, partially recording music in Bangkok, involving the SP-2 singers in his albums & shows and organizing 5 fanclub events in the country.
