Current administrators

Administrators are given access for one year per the Restricted access policy. Regular votes are held to confirm each user's status. Other languages indicate the areas in which the administrators might be able to converse with outside project members, or help provide public domain translations.

Confirmation discussions

Restricted access depends on the continued support of the community. This may be tested by a vote of confidence, in which a simple majority (50%+1) must support the user's continued access for it to be retained. (What access a discussion concerns should be explicitly noted in the discussion's introduction.) Any user may propose a vote of confidence, but at least three established users must support the need for one before it can be called. Such a proposal is made automatically one year after the last scheduled or called proposal (concerning all restricted access). The full schedule of proposal votes is available on the administrators page.

"In the case of an unscheduled (called) proposal, the user may not use the restricted access for any non-trivial action at any time until the vote is closed. A bureaucrat will eventually archive the discussion and, assuming consensus, request removal of restricted access by a steward."

Restricted access policy (as of 01 May 2008)

A minimum of three established users must oppose below for a confirmation vote to be called. Users are free to indicate support for the administrator, although this has no effect on the outcome. Inactive administrators will automatically lose access unless a majority support continued access.

Nominations for adminship

Jude voluntarily gave up his adminship in 2007, but has recently become active again. I have known Jude for a long time, and I can vouch for him as both an editor and sysop. While he has been absent for some time, he is bringing himself up to speed on all the changes and discussions that have happened, including everyone's favourite topic, copyright. I have no reason to believe that he would not continue his previous good work, and wholeheartedly support him being an admin again.--Shanel 03:28, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think I might accept. :-) Jude (talk) 03:35, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Giggy (talkcontribs) - > 1000 edits

Constitution Act 1867 was a stunning first contrib. modelled on South Africa Act 1909, and as a result we have DarkFalls (and that has turned out alright .. so far!)

Since then Giggy has plodded along, creating Last Will and Testament of Augustus Hare and A Description of the Morning, working on the collaboration for Author:Karl Marx, adding headers[1][2], collaborating on Author:William Lyon Mackenzie King, starting and completing The Endeavour Journal of Sir Joseph Banks, collaborating on Author:Søren Kierkegaard, welcoming people from other projects[3] and other new users[4], answering anon users politely[5], archiving WS:PD and WS:COPYVIO, collaborating on Author:John Masefield, adding a few works by Author:John Ruskin and Author:Alfred Tennyson for some unknown reason, filling in textinfo because he is bored[6][7][8][9], reverting inappropriate edits by anons[10][11][12][13][14][15][16], alerting Danny that he is up for re-election[17], improving formatting[18], identifying copyvios and notifying the contributor[19], cleaning up after admins[20] and newcomers[21][22], creating Skinner v. Oklahoma and subpages, notifying the community of meta issues[23], inquiring about page blanking[24], creating A Continuation of a Voyage to New Holland, collaborating on Author:Barack Obama and contributing most of the works for related author Author:Ron Paul, adding A Letter to American Boys, doing copying and pasting for Index:Personal Recollections of Joan of Arc.djvu and Index:Thus Spake Zarathustra - Thomas Common - 1917.djvu, fixing some of the pages listed on User:SQL/Namespace 0 pages that probably have reference problems, upgraded Author:Banjo Paterson to a "featured author" type page and bringing the most important work Waltzing Matilda up to grade required to be a Featured text candidate. He also proofread texts that are candidates.[25]][26][27].

And that is only about two thirds of Giggys edits here; enough to demonstrate he has a good understanding of Wikisource the project. In addition he is regularly on IRC, and is also a crat on Commons. John Vandenberg (chat) 08:41, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm happy to accept John's wonderful nomination. Cheers. —Giggy 09:02, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
