Team Fortress Classic is a team based first person-shooter built using half-life engine. It a free mod that’s included with Half-Life, released in 1999.
Gameplay
There are two teams, the blue team and the red team. The objective is to capture opposing team’s flag as many times as possible through scoring or time limit. There are different classes for player to choose from. They include medic, pyro, scout, Heavy weapons guy, spy, sniper, and soldier. There are also new gameplay elements added such as assassination mode, territory advancement, hold the ball mode-that included 4 opposing teams, and nuclear meltdown.
Classes
Class | Description | Weapons |

Pyro | Medium armored class that can disrupt players by igniting them on fire | Short-range flame thrower and long-range incinerator rocket launcher |
Medic | Support class provides health to nearby allies, can infect enemy players. | Super shotgun, regular shotgun and super nail gun. |
Scout | Light armored support class, preferable useful for flag capturing as they are quick. | Shotgun and nail gun. |
Heavy Weapon Guy | Heavy armored class, usually take high amount of damage while dealing high damage. | Chain gun, super shotgun, and shotgun. |
Spy | Light armored class, can disguise as enemy player classes and can instantly kill player by backstabbing them. | Knife, super shotgun, shotgun, and nail gun |
Sniper | Equipped with long-range sniper weapon that can deal high damage by charging and aiming for head shot. | Sniper rifle and nail gun |
Soldier | Highly versatile class with light-heavy armor, equipped with long range rocket launcher that can perform rocket jumps. | Rocket launcher, super shotgun, and shotgun |
Engineer | Support class, usually on defensive side, builds sentry guns and dispensers for ammo | Wrench, railgun, and shotgun |

Game Modes
Capture the Flag
Two opposing teams must capture the flag either winning by scoring.
Assassination Mode
Players must either defend or assassinate the player controlled VIP.
Hold on to the ball mode
Consisting of 4 teams, opposing teams must execute the player holding on to the ball.
Territory advancement
Teams must either guard flag points or capture flag points before time runs out.
Reception
The mod was well received as it offered updated graphics to the original quake modded team fortress. It is listed as 85.43% on the gamerankings website.[1]
