Borrowed from Classical Persian آدمی (ādamī), from Arabic آدَمِيّ (ʔādamiyy, “human”), from آدَم (ʔādam, “Adam”). Cognate with Hindustani آدمی (ādmī) / आदमी (ādmī), Punjabi ਆਦਮੀ (ādamī).
