Miss Universe 2023: Get ready for the 72nd annual Miss Universe pageant! It's set to take place in El Salvador on November 18, where representatives from 90 countries will compete for the prestigious title currently held by R'Bonney Gabriel from the United States. This year's event will feature various rounds, including personal statements, detailed interviews, and showcases in evening gowns and swimwear, all leading up to the crowning of the new Miss Universe.
Excitement is brewing as the world eagerly anticipates the winner of this global beauty pageant. Hosting duties has been assigned to TV presenters Jeannie Mai Jenkins, Maria Menounos, and former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo, while 12-time Grammy winner John Legend adds musical glamour to the evening.
When and Where it will be held?
El Salvador has been chosen to host Miss Universe this year. The event will take place in San Salvador, the capital of El Salvador, at the José Adolfo Pineda Arena, which can accommodate 13,000 people. The national costume competition will be showcased on November 16 at 9:00 p.m. EST, following the preliminary competition scheduled for November 15 at 8:00 p.m. EST. You can catch the live streams on Live Bash, while Telemundo will broadcast it in Spanish in the US.
Additionally, The Roku Channel will provide streaming access. For viewers in India, the final competition will be available on Miss Universe's YouTube channel and X account at 6:30 a.m. on November 19, as per Indian Standard Time.

Who is representing India?
Shweta Sharda, the winner of the 2023 Miss Diva Universe, is set to represent India at the 72nd Miss Universe contest. Her Journey from Chandigarh to Mumbai, coupled with her experiences on reality shows such as Dance Deewane, Dance Plus, and Dance India Dance, has primed her for the international platform of Miss Universe. The 22-year-old model and dancer originally from Chandigarh relocated to Mumbai at the age of sixteen with her mother. She pursued her undergraduate studies at the Indira Gandhi National Open University. Beside this, Shweta has also been contracted as a choreographer for Jhalak Dikhlaja.
What's new?
This year, the contest promises historic moments, celebrating inclusivity and advancement. Contestants like Maria Camila Avella Montañez from Colombia and Michelle Cohn from Guatemala are set to challenge norms by being the first married mothers to compete. Joining them are Rikkie Valerie Kollé from the Netherlands and Marina Machete from Portugal, following the legacy of Angela Ponce as trans women participating in the pageant. Adding to the historic roster is Pakistan's debut, represented by Erica Robin.
