El departamento colombiano del Chocó cuenta con 30 municipios, 147 corregimientos y una riqueza muy grande en fauna y flora, donde atraviesa el Río Atrato uno de los más caudalosos del mundo, sus 30 Municipios cuentan con una riqueza extrema en minerales..[1] Los más poblados y con mayor actividad económica y comercial son Quibdó (la capital), Istmina, Condoto, Acandí y Bahía Solano.
