Ser voluntario es una labor noble, sin duda, pero es tambin el ms amplio sentido de responsabilidad social.

El
voluntariado es el compromiso de una persona con su entorno, su sociedad, su medio ambiente; es el trabajo
desinteresado que hace una persona en algn tema de su inters para ayudar a otros y no existe una sola forma de ser
voluntario.
Cul es la importancia del voluntariado juvenil? Como jvenes debemos encontrar la motivacin necesaria para ser
voluntarios. S que es una afirmacin cuestionable, sin embargo, es indudable que la ptica juvenil aporta cuestiones
innovadoras en la mayora de las temticas culturales, polticas, ideolgicas, etc. Por tal razn, es importante dar a
conocer nuestro punto de vista, no slo a travs de la crtica, sino a travs de la accin.
Es comn que como jvenes tengamos puntos de vista ms innovadores acerca de las problemticas sociales que
acontecen en el mundo. Sin embargo, estas ideas deben ser completadas con acciones propias. El principio de la
exigencia se complementa con la colaboracin. A travs del voluntariado, no slo aportamos nuestra visin y opinin
sobre los temas de nuestro inters, sino que nos adentramos a entender de forma vivencial los problemas que atraviesa
la sociedad, el medio ambiente y el mundo en general.
El realizar trabajo voluntario no slo aporta puntos de vista nuevos, sino que, contribuye a los cambios sociales a los que
nos referimos constantemente. Podramos pensar que nuestra aportacin puede ser insignificante, pero cul es la
relevancia de la suma de todo el trabajo voluntario en nuestra comunidad, nuestro pas, en todo el mundo? La suma de
las acciones hace la diferencia, y ninguna accin es pequea.
Ser voluntario en la actualidad es ms fcil de lo que pensamos y nos da mayor contribucin de la que podramos
buscar. Ser voluntario joven, te saca momentneamente de tu rutina para introducirte en la realidad social, sin duda, te
hace ms humano. El voluntariado juvenil es muestra de espritu de servicio, generosidad, entusiasmo y valores.
El tipo de voluntariado ms conocido es el presencial, consiste en dedicar algunas horas a la semana para apoyar a
alguna institucin en campaas o hasta en actividades administrativas. No existe una sola forma de ser voluntario y la
tecnologa hoy en da est de nuestra parte, por ejemplo, el voluntariado virtual, consiste en asistir a diversas ONGs a
travs de acciones por Internet, ests a su vez son sumamente variadas, y pueden ir desde firmar cartas de apoyo para
acciones de Greenpeace o Amnista Internacional hasta auxiliar a ONGs de atencin a refugiados a traducir textos
necesarios para el desempeo de sus funciones. El voluntariado virtual trasciende fronteras sin que sea necesario
trasladarte de tu pas.
La importancia de hacer acciones voluntarias ahora que somos jvenes, es no slo que contribuimos de forma diferente,
sino que aportamos nuestro grano de arena a las transformaciones sociales que siempre exigimos. Los problemas no
tienen que estar directamente vinculados con nosotros para que participemos.
Ser voluntario no significa hacer caridad, la caridad se hace cuando se siente lastima por otros, el voluntariado se hace
cuando se siente una responsabilidad por mejorar nuestro entorno, por mejorar nuestro mundo, siempre hay que tomar
eso en cuenta.
El voluntariado juvenil, es la pieza que hace falta explotar para movilizar los deseos de cambio en nuestra sociedad. Es
importante que como jvenes, contribuyamos al proceso de desarrollo y cambio. Esto no slo es relevante por los
muchos aportes que los jvenes podemos dar, sino porque es una muestra del inters que tenemos en el cambio y
desarrollo de nuestro mundo. Si el inters es poco, los cambios tambin lo sern.

El voluntariado tiene sentido como expresin de la participacin y de la solidaridad social, la cual se hace efectiva a
travs de valores que sustentan la gratuidad y el compromiso de construir una sociedad ms justa, con valores muy
diferentes a los de la sociedad de consumo, pues nada tiene que ver con el individualismo y las relaciones mercantiles
que en ella se privilegian, establecen y promulgan. Por lo tanto, no debemos caer en el reduccionismo de intentar
transformar el aporte del voluntariado en un bien econmico y, cmo tal, en un bien de intercambio.

En sta misma lnea, la motivacin para ser voluntario no debe tener que ver con el beneficio personal que nos otorga
ampliar nuestro currculum con la participacin en este tipo de experiencias; ni tampoco el hecho de conseguir una
prctica pre profesional accesible.
Si decids ser voluntario, que tus motivos tengan que ver con una entrega que vaya ms all de lo individual, que te
permita involucrarte con realidades diferentes, y que en ese ser parte puedas trabajar para materializar de alguna forma
