En cuanto a las despedidas en inglés, puedes ser formal y decir el

clásico Good-bye. O, de manera más informal, decir See you later, o
simplemente bye!

 Aquí te dejamos un ejemplo de diálogo para empezar a hablar con alguien
nuevo. Es una conversación muy sencilla para nivel B1, así que prueba a
representar este diálogo con alguien:
 A: Hi! I don’t think I know you, is it your first day?
 B: Hi! Yes, I’m starting my English lessons today.
 A: My name’s Kate, nice to meet you.
 B: Laura, nice to meet you too.
 A: So, Laura, do you know anyone in the school?
 B: Not yet, I haven’t had my first lesson.
 A: I’ll introduce you to my friends later, then.
 B: That would be great! Thank you.
 A: On Fridays we normally go out for a beer together, would you like to
join us?
 B: Sure!
 Para mantener la conversación
 Puede que te interese también tener conversaciones más largas, así que
¿qué tal unas cuantas estrategias para mantener una conversación?
 Lo más importante es escuchar lo que te dicen y contestar cosas
relevantes. Evita dar respuestas demasiado cortas, darán la sensación de
que quieres interrumpir la conversación. Echa un vistazo a este diálogo de
ejemplo:
 A: So, are you working on anything exciting lately?
 B: Well… I’m mostly taking a break, catching up with everything I have to
do.
 A: Well, that’s fine, we all need a break every now and then.
 B: I’m a teacher, and things get really busy during the school year so I
always have a lot to do during the holidays.
 A: I hope you’re enjoying the extra time.
 B: I am! What about you?
 A: I’ve recently started working as a waitress, and that’s taking up most

 Conversación sobre el trabajo y el
tiempo libre en inglés
 Aquí tenemos más ejemplos del verbo to be, y preguntas
como What do you do?
 Esta pregunta significa “¿a qué te dedicas?” y es presente
simple. La respuesta suele ser algo como “I’m a doctor. I work
in a hospital.”

 Conversación en inglés con

verb patterns
 Usamos like + verbo en la forma -ing tanto en la pregunta
como en la respuesta. Eso se llama verb patterns, y lo he
mencionado muchísimas veces en otros artículos.
 Joseph: Wow. Do you like living in this neighborhood?
 Mary: Yes, I do. I like the night life. Do you like living with your
parents?
 Joseph: Of course! I don’t have to pay rent, and my mom cooks
all my meals. And do you have a boyfriend, Mary?
 Mary: Yes, I do. He’s big, strong and dangerous. He has lots of
tattoos!
 Joseph: That’s nice. Where is he?
 Mary: Actually, he’s just at the bar ordering a beer. He’s a little bit
drunk.

un par de posesivos: he has tattoos; Do you have a

DIÁLOGOS DE 2 PERSONAS CON DESCONOCIDOS

Cuando conoces a alguien por primera vez normalmente debes hacer

preguntar simples preguntas como el nombre, de dónde es la

persona, qué le gusta hacer en su tiempo libre, etc. Puedes

aprenderte unas cuantas frases para iniciar conversaciones en inglés,

y así será más fácil. Si quieres ver el significado en español puedes

B2 | Preguntar precios
Estas frases te servirán sí piensas ir de vacaciones a un país donde

hablan inglés y quieres ir de compras. Está sección también cuenta

con diálogos en inglés para pedir descuentos, así cuando compres en

otro país puedes preguntar para pagar menos y ahorrarte un poco.

Puedes usar estos diálogos en inglés con amigos cercanos para

practicar speaking. Uno es el «employee» (trabajador en la tienda) y

el otro es el cliente.
