Draftsman
Create Drafts for Architects and Engineers
Work with an architect or engineer to prepare detailed drawings of architectural and structural features.
A draftsman’s main job duty is to create technical drawings based on certain specifications and calculations. Draftsmen typically work with professionals in their field like architects and engineers who provide the project details. The draftsman incorporates these specifications into plans that may be used in the building of a structure.
Draftsmen commonly use CADD systems to create drawings and plans but they may need to use traditional drafting methods with pencils and squares to create their drawings. Other duties of a draftsman can include calculating structural strength, assessing building capacity limits and estimating construction costs.
