A total of 70 new emojis are here – and it’s good news for the gingers in our life.
The red-haired cartoon character has finally been created for the iPhone to concide with World Emoji Day.
Other highlights include grey-haired, bald and curly-haired people while the lobster, kangaroo, parrot and peacock will also make their debut.
Emoji are designed and coded by the non-profit organisation the Unicode Consortium, which has already produced more than 2,500 of the digital cartoons.
The Cupertino-based company confirmed today that the new batch of characters will roll-out to Apple devices in the autumn as part of a free iOS software upgrade.
Healthy eaters will also be pleased with the new additions as there’ll also be a selection of #cleaneating emojis like mango and lettuce.
Cakes and sweets get a reboot too and there’ll be new smileys, including a cold face and party face.
Superhero characters will be joined by an infinity sign, a tennis ball, a test tube, and even an evil eye symbol.
So while Apple say it is introducing just 70 new emojis, the total number should actually come closer to 150 when you include all off the available options for gender and skin tones.
Jeremy Burge, creator of World Emoji Day, said he expects the ginger emoji to draw the most attention, he told CNN :’As always, some of the most vocal requests for new emoji are about representation.
‘In particular the redheads and curly-haired options are likely to be popular.’
