Melaka River Cruise 2024

This was my second time taking the river cruise in Melaka, and it brought back memories of my first ride back in 2014. I have to say, the experience this time around was much more enjoyable, and I noticed quite a few improvements. Back in 2014, while I appreciated the sights, the water had a bit of an unpleasant smell that took away from the overall experience. This time, there was no foul smell. I’m guessing the heavy rains in the past few days helped clear things up, but whatever the reason, it made the ride much more pleasant.

Another noticeable difference was how vibrant and colorful the surroundings felt. The riverbanks seemed better maintained, and the lights and decorations along the route really added a lively charm to the whole trip. The cruise gave me a different perspective of Melaka’s beauty, blending its rich heritage with modern enhancements.

If you're planning a trip to Melaka, I would definitely recommend making time for the river cruise. It's a must-try activity, whether it's your first visit or even a return trip like mine. There's something special about seeing the city from the water, and it offers a unique way to take in the sights and history. Plus, it’s always nice to see how a city evolves, and this cruise has certainly become a highlight worth experiencing!

Keychains and souvenirs

The food.. nyummy..

The thing that I like most about this place is that it is a None Smoking Zone.
Here I can enjoy the pub and bistro without any disturbance from the smoke ;o

Puri Hotel, Melaka

Don't judge this hotel by its outer look :)

Dari luar nampak biasa-biasa jer, tapi dalam nya cantik dan luas.

The lobby area
Dining - Yummy kuih Melaka
The beautiful garden

This is a boutique hotel; location just behind Jonker Street.

It's a 3 storey, 5 rows building with 82 rooms.
Our twin sharing room
Pro: rooms are clean; beautiful garden area; great location.

Con: no elevator; hot water is extremely hot, might be dangerous for young kids to take bath on their own; issue with room access card; my room 220 has no fringe.

Melaka River Cruise

We hopped on the river cruise at 9:30pm, and the final one leaves at 11:30pm.
The ride was alright, though the water was a bit smelly, which slightly dampened the experience.

I think the best time to take this cruise would be during sunset. The soft, golden light reflecting off the water and the city skyline would create a much better illustration.

Fare is at RM10 for adults and RM5 for children, applicable for Malaysians with MyCard.
The fare is higher for foreigners.

Bukit Beruang, Melaka

Bukit Beruang; suatu ketika dahulu pernah menjadi tempat persinggahan dalam perjalanan hidup ku.
Banyak juga kenangan pahit manis di sini.

At the beginning, kehadiranku di situ bukan lah atas pilihan ku sendiri - takdir menentu segala.

Walaupun bukan atas kemahuan ku, tapi daku pernah bahagia di sini, tempat nie memang best, terutama sekali bab makan..yummy.

Mari kita mengimbas kembali...

Wantan Mee
 Chicken Rice

Wat Tan Hor and Pork Rib King

What is the different between Wat Tan Hor and Cantonese kuey teow? Honestly I dunno, or maybe they are referring to the same thing.

Whenever I'm in Malacca I will order Wat tan hor, and never Cantonese kuey teow.  While in Kuching, I'll have Cantonese kuey teow only. I think Wat tan hor is generally sticker than the Cantonese style. Nonetheless, both also taste great.

So this is what we had on our 2nd night in Malacca.
Wat Tan Hor

We also ordered this Pork Rib King, taste great and tender.
Pork Ribs King
This restaurant is located right next to Hallmark Hotel, not far from the Jonker Street.
