New York Jets History

Beginning play at the Polo Ground in 1960 as The Titans of New York, the franchise changed their name to the Jets in 1963 before adopting Shea Stadium as their home in 1964. In 1968, the Jets became the first AFL representative to defeat the NFL in the Super Bowl as the team beat the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl III, an improbable victory that was made possible in part by their quarterback, "Broadway" Joe Namath.

The Jets made a return to the playoffs in the ’80s, and in 1982 made an appearance in the AFC Championship game. Between 2001 and 2010, the Jets made the playoffs six times.

New York Jets at MetLife Stadium

The Jets play their home games at MetLife Stadium, an open-air, multi-purpose stadium located at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, New Jersey. MetLife is also home to the New York Giants, which makes it one of only two stadiums to be shared by two NFL teams.

MetLife Stadium opened in 2010 and upon its construction, which cost $1.6 billion, was the most expensive stadiums to be built in the U.S. MetLife Stadium has a capacity of 82,500 and has hosted such events as Super Bowl XLVII, Copa America Centenario Final, and the 2021 Army-Navy Game. MetLife will also be one of the sites for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

  • Fantastic!

We are from São Paulo (Brazil), it was our first NFL experience and it was amazing! The attendence to the stadium, the arrival, the staff work, foods/drinks, products, the whole game attractions, energy, exit and return were fenomenal! Looking foward for the next opportunity, hopefully in a better Jets' scenario on/outside the field.

  • MetLife is the worst in the NFL.

MetLife St. is the worst in the NFL. No Charakter, bad Design, Public Trans. nonexistant. Food ist average at best.

  • Mediocre

by Daniel on 10/19/24MetLife Stadium - East RutherfordRating: 3 out of 5

MetLife is in the middle of nowhere, but it's accessible by train. Eating at the stadium is pretty cheap in comparison to other venues like The Garden or the baseball stadiums. The field is pretty visible from any section, but if someone in front of you is standing, the jumbo screens (in each corner of the stadium) don't do much justice and you're forced to stand as well. There's not a lot of wait time to get inside. It gets very loud, and people get very drunk, so you're going to be the one to be obnoxious or be around someone who is. We had a guy fall down a row of steps into a fan who wasn't to thrilled about it, and almost caused a fight before the game even started. Overall, it's a mess if you drive but less stress if you take the train to get there. I left early because it was Monday night game and halftime wasn't until after 9PM and it was cold, so the wait for the train wasn't that bad. The stadium itself is pretty bland. There's nothing that makes you want to walk around, so you're pretty much there to see a game and leave.

  • Great atmosphere. Food leaves plenty to be desired

by Dylan on 10/11/24MetLife Stadium - East RutherfordRating: 4 out of 5

Great atmosphere to be amongst, regardless of the appalling play on the field, though MetLife stadium can massively work on their food

  • Worst Sunday in recent memory

by Mike from Woodbridge on 10/2/24MetLife Stadium - East RutherfordRating: 1 out of 5

MetLife stadium needs a dome. It rains more than 60% of home games. The weather sucked, the game sucked, and it was a miserable day at the stadium. My first game in 9 years and I won’t be back anytime soon.

  • Awesome

  • Draft Party

    by Bop44 on 4/4/24Rating: 1 out of 5

I'm very upset and disappointed due to the fact that I've tried to get these tickets earlier in the day and it stated I had five tickets but however it kept saying after confirming submission and I clearly see that I didn't get them so with that being said I'm very upset and I'm very disappointed!

  • Great overall customer experience

by Mark on 12/27/23MetLife Stadium - East RutherfordRating: 5 out of 5

As an international traveller, the whole experience was amazing. Starting with the ease of transport to the game, to well marked out signs once we arrived. Throughout our game, staff were particularly friendly and helpful always willing to assist. The pre-game tailgate activation was great fun and overall vibe was great. One piece of advice to international travellers, make sure you pack your passport if you would like to have a drink at the venue.
