Aloe microstigma
During dry spells, Aloe microstigma can look fire-roasted, as seen with these plants from southeast of Laingsburg, on the southern edge of South Africa’s Great Karoo region. The way the leaves color up and pull together at the tips is a normal response to hot dry weather, and the plants will open up and lose some of the color when cooler conditions arrive in the fall. When they flower in the winter they will look quite different.
