Find a birch tree with peeling bark.
Take a piece of it while giving thanks to the tree and write something on it—whatever comes to your mind—how you feel right now, how the tree feels to you, something you need help overcoming, etc.
Carry the piece of birch skin with you until you’re ready to let it go somewhere else, in another forest or city or field.
(Repeat when inspired…)
NOTE: This is an example of a way of artistically interacting with nature in order to uncover/think about ourselves in relation to the world in a new way. There are lots of other ways we can do that with other trees, stones, sand, moss, and anything we find along our paths. It’s the getting out there into nature that’s the important thing.
