Hi, y’all! I’m the creative mind behind Easy Wholesome and the founder of Texanerin Baking, two blogs dedicated to crafting healthier, flavorful recipes that cater to diverse tastes and dietary preferences.
My journey into recipe development started in 2011 with a focus on whole-grain baking, which eventually evolved to include gluten-free, grain-free, and often vegan-friendly desserts. But as someone who primarily follows a paleo lifestyle, I found it frustrating not to be able to share my meat-based recipes – it just didn’t align with Texanerin Baking’s identity.
When my blogging friend Heidi decided to sell Food Doodles – the original name of this blo – in 2019, I jumped at the chance to make it my own. She had started Food Doodles back in 2012, and I had been a loyal follower since the beginning. I couldn’t have dreamed of a more fitting blog to carry forward!
Since its inception, this site has championed the belief that healthy eating doesn’t mean compromising on taste. It’s all about creating recipes that are both accessible and indulgent, striking the perfect balance between nourishing ingredients and satisfying flavors.
What You’ll Find on Easy Wholesome
- Wholesome ingredients, made simple – from-scratch recipes featuring real, whole foods that are as nourishing as they are delicious. You won’t find cake mixes, pudding powders, or mystery ingredients here – just honest, wholesome cooking with a focus on quality and taste.
- Tips for success – I share simple, practical tips to enhance flavors and textures, helping you elevate every dish. Whether it’s a subtle spice blend or a small technique adjustment, I’ve got you covered.
- Family-friendly meals – every recipe is designed with real-life households in mind – busy schedules, picky eaters, and all. All the dishes are already kid- and partner-approved.
- Recipes you can trust – I’m all about creating dishes you’ll want to make again and again. Every single recipe is tested multiple times – not just by me, but also by my trusty taste-tester and photographer. That means you can count on every meal to deliver on both flavor and consistency.
What You Won’t Find Here
- Overly complex recipes: Say goodbye to endless ingredient lists and hours chained to the kitchen. My recipes are straightforward, efficient, and perfect for real people with real lives. Because who has time for unnecessary complications?
- Flavorless duds: I refuse to settle for mediocre! As a self-proclaimed kitchen experimenter (and a bit of a perfectionist), I make sure every recipe is as delicious as possible before it ever makes its way to your screen. That includes extra rounds of testing to guarantee every dish is a winner. I made some of my more popular recipes 30-40 times before posting.
Random Stuff About Me
- When I was 16, I participated in an exchange program in Sweden, and I loved it so much that I returned for another exchange year during college. That’s where I met my future husband, who was also an exchange student at the time.
- A lot of people assume we’re a military family because my husband is German. We’re not – he’s actually in tech. I’m Irish American myself.
- I’m a huge Pearl Jam fan. My taste in music hasn’t really progressed since the 90s.
- I’ve been obsessed with the Interstellar soundtrack and experimenting with cocktail recipes. 😄 Horror movies are my go-to, but Interstellar remains my favorite film.
- I also wrote a cookbook that I don’t promote much because of issues with the publisher. It doesn’t have many reviews on Amazon as a result. One reviewer gave it a low rating simply because they didn’t like the title – which I didn’t have control over. Another was unhappy that a baking cookbook included recipes with sugar. Right. 🤔 Despite the reviews, the recipes are fantastic, and I stand by them.
I truly hope you’ll enjoy my recipes! If you try one, I’d love it if you could leave a comment on the post to let me and other readers know how it went.
Reader feedback is one of the best parts of what I do – it helps me improve and inspires others, too. Thank you so much! 💖
