Fresh & Ready Foods Listeria Outbreak Sickens, Hospitalizes 10

A Fresh & Ready Foods Listeria outbreak has sickened at least 10 people, and all of those patients have been hospitalized because they are so sick, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The company has recalled some of its ready to eat products, including sandwiches and protein packs. They were sold to retail stores, hospitals, hotels, airports, and airlines in the states of Arizona, California, Nevada, and Washington. The case count by state is: California (8) and Nevada (2). The patient age range is from 41 to 87 years. Illness onset dates range from December 3, 2023 to September 9, 2024. No deaths have been reported. And no illnesses have been identified in 2025. Aladdin Mediterranean Cafe Salmonella Outbreak Sickens 37

The Aladdin Mediterranean Cafe Salmonella outbreak has now sickened at least 37 people, according to an update posted by San Diego County Public Health Services. Nine people have been hospitalized becasue they are so sick. That's an increase of 23 more patients and four more hospitalizations since the original notice was posted on May 1, 2025. The restaurant is located at 5420 Clairemont Mesa Boulevard in San Diego. Management voluntarily closed the restaurant on May 1, 2025. They have been working closely with the county's Environmental Health and Quality Department along with Public Health Services on the investigation. The patient age range is from 1 to 90 years old. Sushi Train Restaurant Allegedly Site of Food Poisoning Outbreak

Sushi Train restaurant in Nashville is allegedly the site of a food poisoning outbreak, according to news reports. The Metro Public Health Department is investigating. Around 12 customers reported "rapid-onset" food poisoning after eating at the restaurant, which is located at 94 White Bridge Road in Nashville. The patients reported severe food poisoning symptoms. Illness onset dates appear to be late March through late April 2025, according to reports on I Was Poisoned. The Tennessean obtained a report on these illnesses from the health department. The types of symptoms were not mentioned, so it's difficult to speculate about which pathogen may have caused these illnesses. New Listeria Monocytogenes Outbreak on FDA CORE Table

There is a new Listeria monocytogenes outbreak on the FDA's CORE Outbreak Investigation Table along with four other investigations. Four of the five outbreaks are unsolved. The new Listeria outbreak is in a not yet identified food. There are at least 14 people sick in this outbreak. We do not know the patient age range, illness onset dates ,or whether or not anyone has been hospitalized. The FDA has initiated traceback, an onsite inspection, and sampling. The CDC weighs in on the Sysco ReadyCare shakes Listeria monocytogenes outbreak that has sickened 38 and caused 12 deaths. The supplemental nutritional shakes have been recalled. The case count by state is: Alabama (1), California (4), Colorado (1), Connecticut (2), Florida (2), Illinois (2), Indiana (3), Maryland (1), Michigan (2), Minnesota (1), Missouri (1), North Carolina (2), Nevada (1), New York (3), Ohio (1), Oklahoma (1), Pennsylvania (1), Tennessee (2), Texas (5), Washington (1), and West Virginia (1). A Lyons and Sysco Shakes Listeria monocytogenes outbreak has sickened at least 38 people and has killed eleven, according to the FDA. Ill persons live in 21 states. The products are Lyons ReadyCare and Sysco Imperial Frozen Supplemental Shakes. The patients live in these states: Alabama, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, and West Virginia. Sweet Cream Pastries Salmonella Outbreak Sickens 18

A Sweet Cream pastries Salmonella outbreak has sickened at least 18 people in seven states, according to the FDA. An outbreak linked to these products has been reported in Canada, where at least 69 are sick in five provinces, with 22 hospitalizations. The pastries were manufactured in Italy and exported into the United States by Importations Piu Che Dolci Inc. of Quebec, Canada. Patients have been reported from these states: California, Illinois, Massachusetts, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. The product was distributed in Florida, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. The product could have been distributed in more states. One person has been hospitalized. USDA Reveals Unsanitary Conditions in Boar’s Head Facility

The USDA is revealing unsanitary conditions in Boar's Head facility in a report in the wake of a deadly Listeria monocytogenes outbreak that occurred between May and November 2024. The outbreak was linked to liverwurst produced at that facility in Jarratt, Virginia. FSIS undertook a thorough review of the outbreak to identify contributing factors and evaluate responses in the future. The USDA conducted document reviews and in-person assessments at the Jarratt facility and at all establishments owned and operated under the Boar's Head Provisions Corporate umbrella. The reviews were for years 2022 through 2024. A Mary Pilgrim Inn Salmonella outbreak in Seattle, Washington has sickened at least 14 people, according to King County Public Health, That facility is located at 14115 Aurora Avenue North in Seattle. The event was two Christmas dinners held on December 25, 2024 and a meal of leftovers on December 26, 2024. Illness onset dates range from December 25, 2024 to December 28, 2024. Five people have been hospitalized because they are so sick. The Mary Pilgrim Inn is a temporary emergency housing shelter in the city. Two Christmas dinners were served on Christmas Day, and leftovers were available the next day.
