Better than new
Original guards got bent and scraped in fall. These were much cheaper than original equipment and seem to have a better quality finish. They look as good on the bike as original equipment and installation was pretty easy...except for keeping engine mounting points lined up. This required a little fiddling. Just take off one side at a time.

Great guards !!

Beautiful design, but with some minor flaws
First and foremost - can't believe how fast Fortnine shipped this out. These guys are awesome!
Now in regards to the product - installed this on my brand new 2018 Honda CB500X. Quick points:
- Installation was not easy. Worst instructions I have ever seen. A child could have drew out better instructions. Highly recommend having 2 people installing this. Loose bolts on each side, and then once all the parts are in, tighten the bolts. Checkout the Youtube video for installing it - was very helpful.
- Design is really nice. Makes the bike look more rugged. The quality also appears to be good (some heavy metal - not the music genre!).
- Unfortunately, the installation of the bars is causing significant amount of vibrations in the body of the bike (feel it in the knees). The higher the RPMs, the worse the vibrations. Reading online, some people suggest getting the bolts torqued to Honda's specs. If anyone has the bolt specs for the 2018 Honda CB500X, please do share!
Overall great product - haven't (and hopefully never do) tested the product out in a crash, but based on other reviews, seems to handle a crash pretty well.

Easy installation
The instructions are not fully cleared but I used a YouTube video to get some clarifications and it installed easily and it looks good on the bike. I recommend using some "Loctite" or something similar on the bolts for peace of mind. I only give it a 4 out of 5 due to the unclear instructions

Great Value
I bought these Givi engine guards for my 2012 650 V Strom in January 2020. They were the least expensive alternative from all the guards available for the bike, but I think they will work just as well if ever I need to lay the bike down.
They were fairly easy to install following the instructions supplied. The only tools needed were a few Allen wrenches to remove the stock bolts where the guards attach to frame.
The one thing which could be better explained in the instructions was the way the triangular upper front attachment points should be mounted on the guards just loosely enough that you can swivel the plates while you mount the guards to the bike, to make them fit.
If you try to install the triangular plates to your frame first, then attach the guards to them afterwards, it's impossible to do so. (Ask me how I know)
If you installed the guards with the swivel portion of the mount loose, it will install much easier, but you then need to tighten the bolts holding the guard to the plate, one on each guard. I used an angle grinder to shorten an Allen wrench so that the short side of the L was only about 1/4" long. This made it easy to tighten the bolt while everything was assembled. It's not easy to get to the bolt heads, but the short Allen wrench makes it possible.
Now that the guards are on the bike, they look great. I'm very happy with the guards, and the great service I had from FortNine is just icing on the cake.

had to do quite a bit of bending to get holes to lineup eventually could bend them into shape where everything lined up at once, once install, they do look great though

My bike is a 2022 BMW R1250RS. If I install these on my bike and it goes over, will this stop it from going over completely on its side? n other words, will it stop at the guards as per the photo not damaging other parts? Thank you.
Engine Guards are not guaranteed to stop all damage from the bike falling over, however do ensure no/minimal damage to the engine in the event of a fall. The reality is that the angle of contact, as well as the terrain of the surface, will dictate damage to the specific vehicle. Engine Guards equally can never protect the entire engine from certain incidents.
