Tie Rod alignment and fit.

Tie Rod alignment and fit.

There is a similar post, but I thought my question was different enough to start a new one.

I'm modeling an RC car, just for rendering purposes so I do not need the finally assembly to function (although being able to pick the chassis up and have the suspension travel might be a goal later on).  This is the first time I've used Joints in Fusion.  I'm trying to place the tie rods on the car.

I'm trying to figure out how to join the tie rod ball ends to the ball studs, have them align to them because they are not on the same angle to each other, as well as get the tie rod to "slide" (fit) between them to the correct length.

Should I be placing the ball ends on first then put the threaded rod between them?

I have a few of these to do on this model, similar situation with the dog bones, so any pointers would be appreciated.

I've exported the tie rod and 2 ball studs if that helps.

Thanks!

You would use the Joint type called Ball in the assembly.  Your modified model is attached.

It looks like you may have moved the ball to the rod end and not the rod end to the ball?

Either way, I ended up getting it to work by grounding the tire and shock tower and then ball joining the rods in place.  For the steering rod I rotated one end 30 degrees before joining so it would line up.  If I didn't ground the parts the assembly would get al twisted around.

Pretty much just a hack way of getting it done, but like I said, this is just to render out so it doesn't matter that much.

HI!

Are you able to take a look at what I posted earlier today regarding tie rods? I'm doing something similar and cannot get them to fit.
