Has anyone figured out a way to model egg crate foam?

Having a little trouble with this, just wondering if anyone has had any luck, or would like to help me figure out how to model this egg crate foam?, obviously I'm not worried about the texture, just the geometry, this one's kicking my rear.

That should work, but is there no way to model, I have about 10 shapes and sizes I need to draw up?

Also, that model is not correct... every other row should be offset to the center of the previous row.?

Do you need 100% accurate models to generate mold toolpaths or something with?

we are using our CAD models for product renders, so yeah, it needs to look correct.
