I received my Apple Watch Ultra a few hours ago and was bummed the Dexcom G6 app and complication didn't work on the Ultra (same thing happened with S7 last year). The app would say to check iPhone and the complication was just dashes. I set up Sugarmate so I could see my sugars (as you can see in the middle complication). I updated to iOS 16.1 beta 4 and the G6 app and complication started working.

Thre G6 app for me had issues with displaying on the Series 7 when it was first released because of the display increase. It was updated and has worked ever since. On my Ultra, which I got yesterday, the G6 app would not display any readings (message said to check iPhone) and the complication was dashes. I contacted Dexcom and was told that Ultra is not compatible with G6 at this time. When the Series 7 first came out and wasn't working this was their response as well.

Glad you're not (and me now) having any issues.

I've got a Series 5 and use the G6, and one thing that I find a little annoying is that the complication will only work on some watch faces. Essentially it won't work on the outer corners. Given the importance of the complication, this puts a limit on the faces I can use. Extremely first world problem, I know, but a pet peeve.

This may help someone out there,
IF you have an Apple Watch and use the “Modular” view and have Dex in the center where it’s
the largest….

If you update your WatchOS to anything after 7 I believe, it won’t work….
Call Dexcom Tech Support and verify and then tell them they need to get on this!

They don’t realize the later they do this they just send more people to use SugarMate as a secondary….

I updated my Watch-6 SE and lost it… Have called Dexcom three times since and nobody can tell me when they will have it updated….

What is SugarMate?

When Ultra was launched I was among the first wave of users to quickly discover that Dexcom assigned to the Action Button was not working. I contacted Dexcom and received the "it's not supported" response.

I did not know about Sugar Mate and just read about it in this thread. I have installed it, attached my Dexcom data, created a shortcut, added the shortcut to Apple Ultra, and assigned the Ultra shortcut to the Ultra Action Button. It isn't working and giving me the error message "The operation took too long to complete. Please try again.

Any ideas on what I need to do to make this work?

The only thing I know is that it took me a little back-and-forth because the sugar data is basically using your iCloud calendar as an event and that’s how it shows the data, that being said I’d be curious if your ultra button could be programmed to pull up your iCloud calendar and that should display it I would hope.

The saddest thing is that I believe until somebody like Elon Musk or the head of google or somebody at the top of the food chain with Apple ends up with a child with type one diabetes we’re never going to see quick updates to things, this is mostly just my rant against Dexcom as I like their products I’ve been wearing them for over 15 years but for them to be this far behind iOS updates and not even doing the courtesy of broadcasting a warning to tell folks to not update their watches etc. etc. because you can’t see your data like you need to is just so 1985.

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

I’ve got a brand new Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ in my office and I am almost on board with switching to that phone and then having to go buy a Samsung watch to get the information I want.

I know time are crazy aren’t they! Lol…

I use the Dexcom app on my Ultra and S7 no issues. Complication at 3 o’clock position in center.
Hi @dthiss01! Curious to see if you have seen a change in the displays recently. I woke up this morning with the complication displaying information half the size it was before - and there is nothing I can do to fix it (rebooting changing the complication, reinstalling the app, ...). Just wondering if it's a general bug or just on my watch. Thanks for any insight! (see pict -see how small the Dexcom shows - its impossible to read).

The same thing happened when Dexcom updated the iPhone app last year or the year before. They completely shrunk the size of their blood sugar value in the G6 app and made it difficult to easily see the value. I contacted them and was told the 13 Pro Max (I'm pretty sure that's the model I had at the time) was not on the list and therefore not supported. They ended up returning to the larger font with an updated version of the app. Dexcom is so far behind all the time, it's as if they don't even plan for new iPhone and Apple Watch support.

No lock screen widgets stilland haven't been added. I still use the Dexcom app, but prefer Sugarmate, zDrip, and Happy Bob. Happy Bob is the only app I know of that shows your blood glucose value as a lock screen widget.

I'm trying to figure out if wtatchOS 10 supports Dexcom G6, Sugarmate, zDrip, and Happy Bob.

They all work perfectly fine in iPadOS 17. I've read Decom G6 app works on iOS 17 from a thread on MacRumors.

Does anyone with watchOS 10 know if any of the above apps work on watchOS10? Thanks in advance!

Thanks Jimmie for the updates.
I called tech support from Dexcom - they were unaware but acknowledged it was weird.
I am on WatchOS 10, and that might be the origin of the issue (even if it worked very smoothly on WatchOS10, until yesterday and font size changed for no apparent reason).
I have tried Sugarmate and Happy Bob on WatchOS 10. Both work with their limitations: Happy Bob doesn't show the value on any complication - just the Happy face. SugarMate works well (after the cumbersome process of creating a calendar etc) but you are limited in the type of watch faces you can choose from.
I don't have zDrip beta code invite. If you have a clue how I could get one, I'd be happy to try this out for you!

Dexcom G6 works on all devices (iOS 17, WatchOS 10), same access to complication. It's fine when it's on a bottom complication (line type), doesn't work well when it in on (round) dial.

Hope it helps

I just upgraded to watch os 10 and... you need a microscope to see the glucose value in the complication. the font size is no bigger than 3 point size? I called them yesterday and complained and got virtually the same answer...the are on iOS 16.6? I kindly told them that the Beta's have been going on for months and it's no excuse. They tell you it's a medical device...blah blah. Then send a quick update fixing the font size and then continue working on the rest. It is really unacceptable!

What line type complication are you using or referring too?

I was using the round dial in the Wayfinder complication of the Ultra. The only complication line that works now (...is readable) s on the Explorer bottom line.

Upgraded to watchOS 10 and can no longer see blood sugar number in complication. It's tiny. Contacted support.
