Grce aux dclencheurs interchangeables, les disjoncteurs Compact NS sadaptent :
b La protection des rseaux de distribution (avec ou sans dispositif diffrentiel
rsiduel).
b La protection des dmarreurs de moteur.
b La protection des rseaux courant continu.
b La fonction interrupteur-sectionneur, conforme la norme IEC 60947-3.
Le dclenchement peut, au choix de lutilisateur, tre assur par un dispositif
magnto-thermique ou lectronique.
Le montage des Compact NS en inverseurs de source (automatiques ou manuels)
est galement prvu.

Aptitude au sectionnement et scurit dintervention

Tous les disjoncteurs Compact sont aptes au sectionnement selon la norme
internationale IEC 60947-2. La poigne ne peut indiquer la position O que si les
contacts sont effectivement spars. Ladaptation dune tlcommande ou dune
commande rotative conserve laptitude au sectionnement.
Pour la protection contre les contacts directs, les disjoncteurs Compact sinstallent
travers la face avant des tableaux de classe II (norme IEC 60664).

Suitability for isolation and safety of personnel

All Compact circuit breakers are suitable for isolation as defined in IEC standard
60947-2. The operating handle cannot indicate the "off" position unless the contacts
are actually open. Fitting a rotary handle or a motor mechanism does not alter the
reliability of the position indication system.
For protection against direct contact with live parts, Compact circuit breakers may be
installed through the front panel of Class II switchboards (as per IEC 60664).

Le choix du dclencheur est fonction du type de rseau protg et de la tension
demploi du disjoncteur. 5 rfrences de dclencheur permettent de protger tous
les types de circuits, de 60 630 A, quelle que soit la tension dutilisation du
disjoncteur
b U y 525 V : STR23SE ou STR53UE
b U > 525 V : STR23SV ou STR53SV
b protection des rseaux neutre surcharg (U y 525 V) : STR23SE OSN.
Les dclencheurs STR53UE et STR53SV proposent un plus grand nombre de
rglages de la protection auquel sajoutent, pour le STR53UE, des fonctions
optionnelles de protection, mesure et communication.
Les dclencheurs STR se montent indiffremment sur les Compact NS400 et
NS630, de type N, H ou L, 3P et 4P.
Les disjoncteurs 4P sont quips en standard d'un commutateur de protection du
neutre 3 positions (3d , 3d + N/2, 4d) ou (3d , 3d + 0,8 N, 3d + 1,6 N) pour l'OSN.
Protection of AC distribution systems
The choice of a trip unit depends on the type of system to be protected and the rated
operational voltage of the circuit breaker.Five trip unit models cover the protection
needs of all types of circuits, whatever the operational voltage of the circuit breaker:
b U y 525 V: STR23SE or STR53UE
b U > 525 V: STR23SV or STR53SV
b protection of systems with an overloaded neutral (U y 525 V): STR23SE OSN.
Trip units STR53UE and STR53SV offer additional protection settings plus, for the
STR53UE, optional protection, measurement and communication functions.
The STR trip units can be mounted on all 3-pole and 4-pole Compact NS400 and
NS630 circuit breakers, types N, H or L.
All 4-pole circuit breakers come with a three-position neutral protection setting (3d
for no neutral protection, 3d + N/2 for neutral protection at 0.5 In and 4d for neutral
protection at In or 3d , 3d + 0.8 N and 3d + 1.6 N for the OSN).

Dclencheur universel STR53UE / STR53UE universal trip unit
b Slectivit logique (ZSI)
Un fil pilote relie plusieurs disjoncteurs en cascade.
Sur dfaut terre ou court-retard :
v soit le dclencheur STR53UE dtecte le dfaut et
informe le disjoncteur amont qui respecte alors la
temporisation programme
v soit le dclencheur STR53UE ne dtecte pas le
dfaut : le disjoncteur amont dclenche sur sa
temporisation la plus courte.
De ce fait, le dfaut est limin instantanment par le
disjoncteur le plus proche. Les contraintes thermiques
subies par le rseau sont minimales et la slectivit
chronomtrique est respecte sur lensemble de
linstallation.
L'option ZSI du dclencheur STR53UE ne fonctionne
que sur le disjoncteur plac le plus en aval de la
chane de slectivit logique. L'option slectivit
logique ne fonctionne donc pas entre deux
disjoncteurs Compact NS.
b Zone selective interlocking (ZSI)
A number of circuit breakers are interconnected one
after another by a pilot wire.
In the event of a short-time or earth fault:
v if a given STR53UE trip unit detects the fault, it
informs the upstream circuit breaker which applies the
set time delay
v if the STR53UE trip unit does not detect the fault, the
upstream circuit breaker trips after its shortest time
delay.
In this way, the fault is cleared rapidly by the nearest
circuit breaker. In addition, the thermal stresses on the
circuits are minimised and time discrimination is
maintained throughout the installation.
The STR53UE trip unit can only handle the
downstream end of a zone selective interlocking
function. Consequently, the zone selective interlocking
option cannot be implemented between two Compact
NS circuit breakers.

b Protection dfaut terre (T)

Module de protection de type "courant rsiduel" seuil rglable (8 valeurs de 0,2 1
x In) et temporisation rglable (4 seuils).
b Communication (COM)
Transmission de donnes vers les modules Digipact de surveillance et de contrle
de la distribution lectrique :
v position des commutateurs de rglage
v courants de phases et neutre, en valeurs efficaces
v courant dans la phase la plus charge
v alarme : surcharge en cours
v cause de dclenchement (surcharge, court-circuit, etc.).
b Ampremtre (I)
Un afficheur numrique donne en permanence la phase la plus charge et permet
par pression successive sur une touche la lecture de I1, I2, I3 et I neutre.
Une diode correspondant la phase affiche est galement allume.
Seuil d'affichage de l'ampremtre :
v courant mini u 0,2 x In (pour des courants infrieurs, l'afficheur ne fonctionne pas)
v courant maxi y 10 x In.
b Earth-fault protection (T)
Residual current protection module with an adjustable current threshold (8 settings
between 0.2 and 1 times In) and an adjustable time delay (4 settings).
b Communication (COM)
Transmission of information to Digipact electrical distribution control and monitoring
modules:
v settings
v phase and neutral currents (rms values)
v highest current of the three phases
v overload-condition alarm
v cause of tripping (overload, short-circuit, etc.).
b Ammeter (I)
A digital display continuously indicates the current of the phase with the greatest
load. By pressing a scroll button, it is also possible to display successively the
readings of I1, I2, I3 and I neutral.
LEDs indicate the phase for which the current is displayed.
Ammeter display limits:
v minimum current u 0.2 x In (lower currents are not displayed)
v maximum current y 10 x In.

v compatible avec les tensions de commande de :
- 24 72 V CC et 24 48 V CA ou 110 240 V CA / CC
v s'installe en lieu et place des dclencheurs voltmtriques MN et MX.
b Optional contactor tripping module SDTAM (early-break thermal fault signal)
v opens the contactor before the circuit breaker trips in the event of an overload. It is
thus possible to differentiate between tripping due to overloads and short-circuits
v may also be used to signal a thermal fault
v must be reset manually, locally or remotely
v compatible with the following control voltages:
- 24 to 72 V DC and 24 to 48 V AC or 110 to 240 V AC / DC
v fits in place of the MN and MX auxiliary voltage releases.
