Love the town but couldn't find a good beach spot! The water was not great and the beach under sand was black.
The town is a beautiful laid back town filled with treasures! Food was awesome!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 662776241 juin 2020
Absolutely love this beach. It's only about a 2 hour drive from the house and it's always been very clean. Since we're all practicing the 6ft rule this beach has been the only one we've seen where people are staying 6 feet away from each other. The youngest and I went yesterday and last weekend the whole family went.

The best beach on the Mississippi coast. You don't have to walk very far to reach deep water. Never crowded, and you have the showers to get the sand off. Many volleyball courts as well for enthusiasts. It's really a beautiful place. As a New Orleanian it's the best best to hit up a beach in less than an hour.

No matter if it's hot or cold outside, I love coming to the beach in Bay St. Louis! It's pet friendly too. That's a plus for me and my family.
There are restaurants along the beach close to Main Street. I mean, who doesn't want fresh Seafood?!!
The shops are all locally owed. I love supporting local businesses.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - 2322182707027 mars 2014
The Bay St. Louis Beach is far from perfect, but I love it anyway.
It is very hard to write a review like this without getting sentimental. I've been coming to the Mississippi Gulf Coast since before I could even walk so this area holds significant memories for me. Most people don't want to hear about all that so I will begin with the reasons this is a great beach.
The water is fairly calm. Since the body of water is actually the Bay, as opposed to the gulf, the waves never really get too out of control here. This is a great thing if you have small children and are worried about them being swept away in a tsunami like wave. Although calm, the water is also somewhat murky. Since this is the water I grew up with it doesn't bother me, but if you're looking for crystal clear water, you will not find it here. There is also usually seaweed, etc. floating in the water. I like to round it up and use it when I make sushi (not really).
The beach is beautiful and often deserted. Bay St. Louis doesn't get the crowds that the more popular gulf beaches get which means that you are often completely alone on your stretch of beach. That is especially nice if you have small children running around like lunatics demanding you build them a castle. Here you can build a life sized castle and never infringe on the shriveled old woman working on her tan. There is ample parking along the road next to the beach and traffic is light so crossing the road is never an issue.
When driving to this beach, I always get slightly sad. The area around the beach used to be filled with old houses. Those houses were beach retreats for so many families, but since 2005 the area is filled with empty lots. Remembering what the area was like when I was a kid, and seeing it now, always reminds me of how much that storm affected our region. If you had never visited prior to 2005 you probably wouldn't have the same reaction, but I encourage you to look around. All of those empty lots, all of those abandoned driveways; they were all homes at one point. OK, enough about that.
The beach may be owned by the county or city, but I really feel like this is my beach. Part of that comes from the fact that whenever I have visited, it has been pretty empty. I just park my truck and voila, my own private beach. I sit back and enjoy the view, the sound, the smell and most importantly; I enjoy life. Life at the beach is much more relaxed, much more stress free.
I strongly recommend you take the quick drive to BSL and enjoy the beach. Just don't enjoy my particular spot. There are miles and miles for you to pick. This spot is mine!Helpful 9Thanks 0Love this 8Oh no 0 - 25 mars 2014Prem's
I never met a beach that I didn't like. Bay St. Louis Beach is no exception. While it's not my favorite beach, it's still a beach and I am a mermaid so I enjoy coming here.
Pros
-The water is relatively calm
-The beach is always clean
Cons
-The sand is not packed so walking in the sand isn't easy
-The water is murky and you definitely can't see through it
It's a short drive from New Orleans so if you're looking for a nice day trip, pack a picnic, grab some beach chairs and sunscreen and head on over to Bay St. Louis.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - Nicky Z L.Surf City, États-Unis6526127 juill. 2017
No offense to those who live in New Orleans but my husband was stationed there & where the boots land is home. I absolutely hate it there sooo I went online and wanted to find somewhere safe, and feel back at home ..I'm from California so this has been a huge culture adjustment for me.
Well after doing a lot of research I found this little treasure of a white sandy beach, epic seafood resteraunt on the gulf coast with Ocean views!
I'm only giving 4 STARS because of the water conditions. Some.say Don't swim in (but there aren't any warning signs anywhere) others say its fine but just shower after YIKES..Anyway not knowing this until AFTER I played ball woth myn2 dogs in the water I ran back and washed them both including myself just to be safe. Idk it's one day later & were all just fine & I'm a nurse so If Id know the signs, and symptoms if it were anything to worry about.
The beach was hard to get to because unless you're from there you wouldn't know about the small bridge you drive over to get to the parking spots down by the yaughts. I parked on the street WHICHNIS FREE btw everywhere YAY!
I'm only about an hour away and the drive is worth it plus no gang bangers, graphitti, or bad vibes. No alligators! On the beach!!!! If they ever were to wander aroubd (rare) they remove them & PUT them back to their natural habitats!
If you're a beach person & dont wanna drive all the way to Florida this place is for you!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - SL B.Pacifica, États-Unis0551729 mars 2021
Beautiful spot. Pier is not usable but lots of people fish right in the parking lot. Guy next to us cought a big one. Boat ramp area is fine and usable. Beach is beautiful. Water shallow for a long way out. Free parking by pier and another lot by sandy beach. Oh my, the birds! Loud and entertaining.
