The Dallas Stars may have accidentally leaked their new logo Thursday night on the team’s official iPhone app. Fans briefly noticed the following wallpaper option before it was removed by the team.

At first glance, it looks like something a Major League Soccer team would have. Others have made the inevitable “Dallas Starbucks” comparison. But overall, it’s a step up from the bulky green and gold logo of the past.

The team will officially reveal its redesign on June 4. Team owner John Gaglardi recently said he hoped to bring a “vintage” look to Dallas.
“What I wanted for this franchise was a logo and a look and a crest that when you look at it has timeless, Original Six, vintage, classic qualities to it, and that’s been the theme of what we’ve been pursuing,” Gaglardi told the Stars blog Defending Big D.
