Wild Parrots of Chicago
Yes, there are parrots living wild in Chicago. See below for proof. These parrots were eating at our peanut feeder this morning, then flew up to the telephone wire when Judy went to get her camera. I’m guessing they have down coats to make it through the winter.
I am amazed that they can survive a Chicago winter. I know that they live wild in California but Chicago? Who knew?
We have them down here in Dallas as well, but of course it’s much warmer here than Chicago. Wow. There is a huge colony of them at the lake where I run and I always love seeing them.
There’s also a big colony here in the Hyde Park neighborhood along the south lakefront. Apparently their nests can really screw up the telephone and power lines.
