For three weeks in March, the skies over Lincolnshire, northern England and the North Sea reverberated to the sound of numerous jet fighters. Military Aviation - Falcon Strike 2022, Udon Thani, Thailand

During August 2022 the Peoples Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) and the Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) conducted a joint exercise in the northern part of Thailand called Falcon Strike 2022. Paul Filmer supplies images for this piece.

US Army Chinooks at Lydd, April 2023

On Wednesday 5th April the skies around Lydd (London Ashford) Airport in Kent reverberated to the sound of some unusual visitors when a flight of six US Army CH-47F Chinooks passed through. Chris Wood was in the area and popped along for GAR.

The McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle is a military aviation icon. A hugely successful fighter, and latterly multirole strike fighter, the aircraft has been an instantly recognisable sight across the globe since it entered USAF service in January 1976. The 495th Fighter Squadron, RAF Lakenheath, received their second batch of F-35A Lightning II fighters on 10th February 2022. Glenn Beasley was there for GAR.

Arriving a day later than planned, due to inclement weather, the three-ship arrived shortly before sunset, with the following serials joining the four aircraft already delivered in December – 19-5484, 19-5485 and 19-5486.

One of aviation’s true legends passed away at the weekend when Dale ‘Snort’ Snodgrass was killed in a crash at an airport in Idaho. Gareth Stringer takes a look at his career.
