This old tree has hosts many different epiphyte species. An epiphyte refers to a plant species that thrives by attaching itself to another plant, like a tree, without causing harm, and obtains its water and nutrients from the surrounding air, rainfall, and organic matter. Unlike conventional plants, epiphytes do not usually establish roots in the soil, relying instead on the host plant for structural support.
