Rotary Club of Oamaru

The Rotary Club of Oamaru is a diverse group of people dedicated to making a difference in our local community, regionally, nationally and internationally.

Our single largest annual fundraiser is our Bookarama event, held annually in May and we make a big noise about it. What is quieter is the numerous individuals, students, organisations and groups we help support.

For us, it's about the doing. And there's a lot of doing to be done to support the awesome groups, organisations and individuals that do great work in our community.

Yes, we do big things; like lighting up the local Public Gardens' fountain, buying our local hospital an oncology chair or sponsoring students on an life-changing international exchange.

Yes, we do small things; like sponsoring local students to help with their costs, supporting ESL lessons for migrants or supporting great local initiatives such as On Ya Bike (safe cycling for students programme).

And yes, we do more than write cheques... we help school kids plant trees, we arrange events to keep people informed (e.g. meet the candidates around election time), teach young people interview and leadership skills, and so much more.
