All Roads Lead to Sovereign Mountain

Set in the rural beauty of northern Montana, Westin delves into the tumultuous love story of Westin Quinn and Diane Carter.

Diane has lived on Carter Farms for her entire life. Raised by her grandmother, she learned to be strong, smart, and independent.

But after her grandmother’s death, Diane finds herself stuck in a tedious existence, under the thumb of her bitter brother, David.

All that changes when a cowboy from Sovereign Mountain, the biggest and most infamous ranch around, shows up.

He’s dangerous and forbidden. And he pulls her into a whirlwind, scorching hot romance that’s doomed from the start.
But when faced with the possibility of losing the family farm, Diane is forced to give up the one thing she wants most—freedom to choose her own destiny.

She’s not as alone as she thinks, because Westin Quinn, the cowboy from Sovereign Mountain, never moved on.

And he’s getting his girl back.

Westin is a dark, cowboy romance with heavy themes and content suitable for adults only. TWs are provided on the author's site.

Definitely keen to read this one, *whispers here's hoping he's not into the BDSM lifestyle too*😝 Annnnd he is 🤣.. must be a cowboy kink in their part of the country 🤣

I was really looking forward to this book especially with how much I enjoyed the previous instalment, once it went live, I dived right in, and if I’m being brutally honest I kind of got bored, I don’t mind books centered around the BDSM lifestyle but when it takes it away from me connecting with the characters that’s when I have a problem with it, I had everything crossed that this author would go a different way with Westin since the previous book was too similar to come across as unique as one reviewer mentioned it was almost a copy paste version, and yes I have to agree with her.

If your a fan of the tv series Yellowstone I base my cowboys off Rip, loyal, brash, tough, takes no shit kind of a guy, piss him off and your dropped off at the train station. But when he loves he loves tenderly, fully, you connect completely with the love he shows, this is what I seek when it comes to this genre.

I wanted to push through and finish this book but sadly I couldn’t finish it, I only got about 60% and I was done.

This is a my problem with this book, others have loved it, sadly it just wasn’t for me..

First off I'd like to say thank you to Raya and her team for selecting me as an ARC reader for Westin.

This book was the perfect sequel to Sovereign. Westin River Quinn, is a dark, brooding, and broken man who sees what he wants and will let nothing stand in his way. Diane is an innocent and sheltered young woman who has lost everyone who cared for her. I loved the dynamic between Westin and Diane, though she was young and inexperienced she didn't back down. She took every challenge head on and with a little sass. I loved seeing the softer side of Westin when it came to Diane. He's very much an alpha male but he had some of the most swoon-worthy moments when it came to her. If you're into a dark cowboy romance that is loaded with the most decadent spice, this is the one.

This is a dark cowboy BDSM read. Also age gap (she’s 21, he’s 37). It’s the sequel to Sovereign, but you could read it as a standalone – but, it makes more sense if you read Sovereign first.

This was a solid sequel – not amazing, it could have been better, but it was fine. It’s about Westin, Sovereign’s BFF / right hand man / ranch hand, and Diane, their neighbor. Similar to the first book, he’s a cowboy who likes BDSM. She lives a miserable life on a nearby farm, where she toils away doing chores all day, and has no friends and no life outside of that. They meet, and sparks fly. But, her terrible brother forces her to marry this bad guy fellow rancher. And, she feels motivated to go along with it, otherwise her beloved family farm will be destroyed by a developer.

I liked Sovereign better, this book didn’t draw me in as much. As a hero, Westin was a little bit more likable than Sovereign. But otherwise, as a book, Sovereign drew me in, whereas there were times in this book where it just wasn’t holding my attention, and I felt a little bored.

There were two issues: one was that the heroine of Sovereign got to be more active in her own story. Diane was more passive; she sat back and let this plot happen TO her. The book 1 heroine was part of the final action climax and shot a man; Diane literally sat around twiddling her thumbs while Westin did the action. Even in the areas where she technically made a choice – like, she “chose” to marry the bad guy, to save her family farm – her brother was forcing her to do it anyway. So it would have happened, regardless. She was a passenger in her own story. And, being a submissive isn’t the problem; I’ve read plenty of books with submissive heroines who are more active in their own stories (like Dirty Bad Wrong or Stolen or The Monster and the Doll or After Hours). Weirdly, this book didn't seem to realize this, because Westin kept on commenting that Diane had "sass." Either that, or this book DID realize that Diane is too passive, and it tried to disguise that under her having "sass," so that we wouldn't notice. Well, I did notice.

The second issue is, for half the book, Diane and Westin are pretty much separated. And, similar to the first book, this has an insta-love vibe at the beginning. One reason why I liked the first book is that insta-love is one of my most hated tropes – but, this author managed to make it work in Sovereign. That’s impressive that she got me to like a book with a trope I normally hate. Usually, in insta-love, there’s no relationship development. But Sovereign still felt like it had it, partly because Sovereign and his heroine interacted a lot. Diane and Westin's separation made the story feel like it didn't have relationship development, after the initial insta-love.

Although I was underwhelmed, I didn’t have a bad time, and I don’t regret reading this, it’s a fine sequel. People who liked Sovereign will probably like it. Also, I had assumed that this would be a 3 book series, ending with a book for their hitman friend, Jack. But this book introduces TWO more intriguing hot cowboys: Deacon and Jensen. So, probably they’ll get books, and it will be a 5 book series. I would be into that, I was interested in Deacon and Jensen. So, although this book didn’t wow me, I’m still interested in the rest of the series.

THIS BOOK!!!! I loved it SO much. This is one of those books that I. COULD. NOT. PUT. DOWN! I burnt my kids dinner because I wasn't paying attention because I was so bloody enthralled with this book!

This one is the second book in the Sovereign Mountain series and follows Westin Quinn and Diane Carter. The timelines briefly overlap between book 1 and book 2 but I think this could be read on it's own. I do highly recommend the first book, too.

Westin is a dark, brooding, broken man who one day sees what he wants and he doesn't let anything stand in his way. Diane is innocent, sheltered and doesn't trust easily. She is used to living under the thumb of others and her one wish is to live life for herself. Once Diane took a bite of that forbidden fruit, she knew that she could no longer live a life of anguish and abuse at the hands of her brother and his acquaintances. I absolutely loved the dynamic and relationship between Westin and Diana. She wasn't afraid to ask questions, she was much stronger then anyone gave her credit for and I love how Westin's softer side came out when it came to Diane. He may have been a gunslinger but he stopped at nothing to make his woman happy.

I really enjoy Raya's writing style and how she pushes the boundaries with her characters and their dynamics. The spicy scenes she writes may not be everyone's cup of tea and that is okay but I love how they fit the story so decadently.

I loved this book so much and I can't wait to see where Raya takes this series next! Thank you for the arc, Raya! Absolutely impeccable. ⚠️⚠️Please check your trigger warnings before heading into this one!

Raya Morris Edwards does it again! Hands down the best sequel to Sovereign 🤠🖤 This book did not disappoint. It checked all the boxes for me! Westin’s story definitely won my heart. The whole plot and storyline was so captivating. Keira and Sovereign’s love story was beautiful but there was just something special about Diane and Westin 🖤🤠 if you’re looking for a spicy dark cowboy romance look no further and start the Sovereign Mountain Series. Thank you so much to Raya Morris Edwards for the opportunity to read this ARC!

His mother oh my goodness she so sweet .the friendship Diane was able to form finally and trust

I can't say enough good things cause it's absolutely one of my favorite books .

This is one of those books where I wanted to read it in one sitting, but also wanted to savour it and never let it end... It was SO good and SO spicy.

Westin is the second book in the Sovereign Mountain series. The story follows Westin Quinn, a dark and broody broken man and Diane Carter, an innocent woman, who is sheltered from the world by her cruel, abusive and unruly brother.

We follow Diane as she is grieving her nana and slowly becoming a piece of furniture at Carter Farms. She is forgotten about. Throughout the first half of the book, we learn that Diane wants to experience life and leave her horrible brother, David, behind. Once Diane meets Westin Quinn, she realises that the life she wants is in the shape of a gunslinger with a bad case of "what I want I get"... That is until her slimy brother gets involved and "sells" her off to a rival cowboy - The Garrison brothers (who we meet in the first book, Sovereign). And of course, Westin is going to get his girl, arranged marriage or not.

The relationship between Diane and Westin was spicy to say the least. Diane was witty and smart and she wasn't afraid of him. Westin made her strong and Diane made him soft - I loved that!!! The dynamic of the book was pure angst, Raya Morris Edwards writes cowboys like they are in her blood!

*** The timelines between Sovereign and Westin do overlap. You can read this book as a standalone but there are cameos from the first book and I do highly recommend reading Sovereign before diving into Westin***

The way this story was a bit more fleshed out than the first one , still same quality. It had me cheesing, gasped out loud sometimes at the 🌶 scenes, and at plottwist moments.

Please, Raya, never strop writing these types of man, gritty, but still soft??? Like the way Westin's personality came across the pages was just immaculate.

I have no words. Albeit I had to take a couple of breaks sometimes because of how intense /intimate some scenes could get. Was for real feeling like a third wheel (of fictional characters, mind you💀).

I'm gonna finish off with two emojis🧼 &🥃....goodbyeeee.

Westin River Quinn - be the man that you are!
Don’t we all just drool over a dark, brooding cowboy who falls for his woman and does everything possible to keep her?

Diane may be young, but she’s full of sass and can totally dish it out AND take it! She’s also freaking smart, brave and resourceful too. I think I was surprised that I enjoyed her character development even more than his. She overcomes so much. Also, they have such an interesting dynamic but their journey makes it all worth it in the end.

If you’re into dirty talking cowboys that will do just about anything for you (and to you - wink wink) this book is for you!

Oh, how I missed Sovereign Mountain Men.

Westin, I love him to pieces. He's just broken, but still so good and thoughtful. Que *but daddy, I can fix him* He's met his true match with Diane, and I absolutely love them together. Westin is such a sweetie but also a dark and depraved SOB.

“Have me, darling, trust me.” ...just 😩😭

Diane, I just want to hug her. Poor girl went through so much in a very short 21 years of life. Losing her parents, losing her Nana, an abusive POS older brother. More that I'm not going to say because you're supposed to read the book to find out 😉 But my girl pulls through and comes out on top.

“There seems to be some dispute over who you belong to, and I intend to put that to rest.”

"I’m not your girl.” "Yeah, you are.”

“You’re not all sass. I know there’s a good girl in there who can be sweet and beg for it.”

Absolutely loved Westin, 5/5 read. Put this on the tbr and read it yesterday.

This is the 2nd book in the Sovereign Mountain Series.
I loved the 1st book and addictional novella Redbird. I had high hopes for this book and it didn’t disappoint. You are introduced to both Westin and Diane in this book, so you should read them first.

I personally don't think Westin is dark as Sovereign that being said Westin is still a morally grey, obsessive cowboy who won't let nothing stand in his way of getting what he wants. I think he might even be one of my favourite cowboys now!

I really hope we get Jenson and Deacon book in this series.

As always check your triggers before starting.

Westin (arc)
Raya does these dark cowboys so well. Sovereign had me captivated but I think Westin has won my heart. He’s the perfect morally grey character. He knew who he was and was honest with her about it. When he made a mistake, he owned up to it.

If sovereign was maybe a little too heavy for you, definitely check out Westin! Still check your triggers of course but I consumed this book.

I’m a sucker for a cowboy that uses the term “darlin.” I often forgot Diane’s name because I love that he called her that so much. She was the perfect FMC. She has a backbone and challenged him and he loved that. I loved it too. But even when her sacrificial spirit was broken she was able to trust Westin.

Such a good read.

Westin had more sustenance with the suspense & drama. It definitely did not lack in the spiciness, I need to fan myself just thinking about it 🥵.

Westin, the possessive, spicy cowboy; despite being dubbed as the gunslinger, he’s got a heart, especially for the people he cares about. That’s one thing I liked about him, how he made sure to really take care of Diane. Sovereign was rough & rugged. Westin is rugged & thoughtful.

Poor Diane. Living in a nightmare for so long. But luckily, she was able to come out of the hell she was living in & was actually able to live her life, worry free.

I definitely enjoyed reading Westin, I’m so curious who we will be reading about next. Jensen? Deacon?! Either way, I don’t care, I just need one of them, stat!

I could not put this book down🥵 WESTIN!!! I’m in love👀
A dark cowboy romance… that’s quite literally my dream. I actually think Westin topped Sovereign. I’m obsessed with both.
Diane was super easy to relate too, super determined but also vulnerable at the same time. I admired her personality so much. I’m glad she got what she wanted! It was more than deserved.
Westin, the guy was everything and more. Holy moly🤠🥵 He also had some depth to him which I loved. Regardless of what he did I felt like his morals were in the right place and that he wanted better for himself & the future.

I needed this.
After my first proper reading slump, this was the book I needed.
I loved Sovereign, and I fell in love with this dark, cowboy world. So when I saw the ARC for Westin in my inbox? You best believe I dropped everything to read it!
And it did not disappoint.

Let’s start with Diane.
What a character rollercoaster we go through with her. She’s brave and strong and the things she goes through are heartbreaking. But nothing can break her.
She might have fallen for a dark cowboy, but she put that aside to save her family farm with a forced marriage.

But thank god for Westin.
Because he never let her go, not really.
She may have had to marry another man, but he did what he had to in order to protect her and get her back.
Our gunslinging, morally grey hero was everything I had imagined and more. He was so multifaceted and had depth to his character. He was as sweet and caring as he was dark and ruthless; the perfect combination for survival in the harsh, modern Wild West.

The way this man would do anything for Diana (and I do mean anything, no holds barred), was a true depiction of his devotion and a testament to his love for her. Their relationship felt so real, starting and growing organically, then fighting to be together, choosing each other regardless.
What a beautiful, and sometimes heartbreaking, love story.

I loved everything about this book, it was unique and held me captive from start to finish.
I can’t wait for the next three books, now that we’ve been introduced to all three men.
Overall, such a beautifully written dark, cowboy romance!

(Check TW list, there’s quite a few for this one! I recommend reading Sovereign first to get the full experience.)

4.75 ⭐️ (ARC Review)

This book was absolutely amazing! There's something about the setting—the land I envision while reading about this universe—that has me daydreaming about moving to the countryside, living on a ranch, and finding my own cowboy like Sovereign or Westin. I could easily imagine living the rest of my life peacefully and simply there. The story gripped my heart, filled with angst, love, pain, and the joy found in life's smallest moments.

Westin was head over heels for Diane, and I was equally smitten with him! I loved how effortlessly their love unfolded, despite their personal struggles and insecurities. Reading about how they fell for each other had me falling right along with them. The balance between the romance, spice and the plot was perfect, blending together so good .

And the kisses—oh, the kisses! They were everything to me, making my toes curl every time Westin pulled Diane in for one.

Before I got to the second half of the book, I came across Bruno Mars song “ Die with a Smile “ , and I couldn’t get it out of my head until I finished the whole book. While I really enjoyed the playlist Raya created for them, this particular song resonated with me and felt like the perfect fit for their love story. Now, whenever I hear it, I'll immediately think of Westin and Diane.

This book was beautiful and exactly what I needed. The only reason I didn’t give it a full 5 ⭐️ is because Sovereign and Redbird will always have a special place in my heart—they’re my favorite since their story was where it all began!

It's getting 5 🌶️ from me!!! 🥵🥵⁣

Oh my. Raya has me over here blushing and melting!!!

You guys have met cowboys, but not like the ones from Sovereign Mountain. I need me a cowboy from Sovereign Mountain!!!! I'll volunteer to cook for him and wait all day at home while he works. Lol ⁣⁣

I couldn't put the book down at all!!! I ate everything up including the crumbs. I am so invested and want to know what's going to happen. ⁣

Ever since Diane Grandma passed, she was mistreated and beaten by her older brother. She didn't have anyone. When she met Westin, she immediately felt safe around him. It was definitely lust at first sight for both of them. They started to see each other in secret because Westin has a feud with the Garrison's. And the Garrisons and Diane's brother pretty much work together. Diane was then forced to marry one of the Garrison's. What do you think happens next? You'll have to read to find out. 😏⁣

Westin was so possessive of Diane. Westin did go through his own trauma when he was younger. But together, they were each other's light. Diane was definitely a strong heroine. After what she went through, she never gave up. Love that so much about her. ⁣

Do let me mention.....The TENSION!!! I got scared so many times. Lol so so in love with this book. HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend this series!!!⁣

Oh my goodness, Raya, you absolutely smashed this one. I fell so hard for Sovereign and then along comes Westin Quinn.. he is everything 🤤 Westin is cold, dark, calculated and I am beyond obsessed with him. I don't want to give away any spoilers so I'll just say a few things; I loved the dual POV we get in this book from both Diane and Westin, it always makes my soul happy having a dual POV. Diane Carter, the MFC, is sweet, kind and beyond beautiful. She captures Weston's heart from the moment they first see eachother. This book is filled with spice, revenge, endless love, and of course a HEA. I am beyond excited for the release of this book so yall can elbe equally as obsessed as I am. Westin can be read as a stand alone but I highly recommend reading Sovereign and Redbird first as there are overlaps that will make more sense! 💛

✳️ Also, I just had to add that since Sovereign got compared to Yellowstone's RIP and having that kind of vibe (which I totally agree), I felt like I could compare Westin to Kayce Dutton in small ways (Kayce is my favourite on that show so it's fitting that Westin has become my favourite cowboy book boyfriend). ✳️

Westin ARC Review!! 🐴

I really thought Raya was blessing us all by giving us Sovereign. Then she gave us Westin and I-
Diane is such a strong force. I loved her character from the moment I met her on page. The way she stays steady in the hurricane that is her life is truly something else. She stays so strong for everyone else. Thank God Westin is there when she finally breaks after being bent too far for too long.

Westin falls fast and hard. He vows to protect Diane in any way necessary and does just that. He’s a dangerous man, a gunslinger. And while Diane is maybe 5% scared of him, she’s drawn to him something serious.

I loved seeing Kiera and Soverien again in this book. This story had me hooked from page one. I thought I was going to devour it, but I kept putting it down because I never wanted it to end.

“She’s so sweet, I could drink her neat.” - Westin River Quinn, aka the love of my absolute life.
“Have me darling, trust me.”
I was melting on the floor. ABSOLUTELY A PUDDLE ON THE GROUND. The way he called her pretty? I could have read 500+ pages of Diane and Westin alone.

3.5 Possible spoilers
I always feel a little yuck when there is cheating between characters in a book. So be warned that there is what some would consider cheating in this story. It’s explained in a way that makes sense but still….the author did have a warning about this at the beginning.

I don’t know much about the kink stuff but from the first two books it would seem like the men target very weak women in vulnerable positions to bring them into their lifestyles. I know the book is trying to explain how they are weak but then became powerful by being able to “let it all out” but I just don’t fully believe it.

I think this book had less kink than the first book. Most of the smut was very vanilla until the wedding night. 🤷‍♀️ It was still entertaining, though.

I personally didn’t care for the FMC. She didn’t do much in the book except clean, stay in the kitchen, bedroom, or went to her nanny’s grave and cleaned. Most of her storyline was just plain dull. Most of her POV was “he’s a bad man” or “I don’t care if he’s a bad man”

Westin is a dark cowboy romance that has as much sweetness as it has spice. This is book 2 in the Sovereign Mountain series, but it's an interconnected standalone and can be read by itself, (Though honestly, you don't want to miss out on Gerard Sovereign in book 1 😉)

This entire book was so so spicy in all the right ways. The age gap was delicious, and I ate up every bit of Westin's dominant side.
So much happens to this poor woman, Diane, and all she wants to do is protect her home.

In the first chapter, I was immediately feeling all the emotions.
First, I was so angry for Diane and how she was treated in her own house.
Then, I was scared of what might happen to her in the setting she was in.
But by the end of chapter one, I had already caught myself swooning over Westin Quinn.
That's a lot of feelings in just the first chapter, and the book kept it going the entire time.

Absolutely a 5 star read for me, and I highly recommend this to dark romance readers.

This was so good!

It was interesting getting to see some of the things we saw in Sovereign from Westin’s POV especially that one scene (I know so generic but I don’t want to spoil it for anyone) I loved seeing the other side.

I love the dynamic between Westin and Diane! They appear almost like oil and water but in reality they end up being perfect for each other!
Westin has a past he isn’t necessarily proud of, but despite that he goes after what he wants.
Diane needs to learn to trust and be able to rely on someone and so they both get a little (or a lot) of what they need from each other.

I loved getting more sneak peeks of Sovereign and Keira, but I was so invested in Westin and Diane that it was just an added bonus.

There is some cheating in this book Diane gets married to someone else (long story short not a happy marriage or a necessarily willing marriage) though the connection with Diane and Westin is pretty well established by that point I found that I didn’t mind it.

I’m beyond grateful I was able to ARC read this, and I cannot wait to get this on my shelf!!
