Unleash That River

Rate this book
Love is a river. It springs spontaneously from the lofty hearts and makes its own way to unite with its generous reciprocators.

At times, it becomes dry and seeks the abundance of a big-hearted lover. In other scenarios, the river gets frozen and looks for the warmth of a passionate soul. And in some cases, it may just be ready and waiting to leap forth from its humble abode. All it takes is just a little stroke of fate for that river to unleash itself and flow in its full glory.

'Unleash That River' is an anthology of six short stories of love and contemporary romance.

1) Keys:
When Dhyey returns home to meet his mother after several months, he discovers that she has started sharing the house with a beautiful tenant, Nishita who not only holds the key to his house, but to his locked heart as well.

2) Dot Every 'i' And Cross Every 't':
Varun and Puja met for the first time through an arranged marriage proposal. However, in order to make sure that they are the ones who can really complement each other for the rest of their lives, they must take a step out of their comfort zones, and do something unprecedented and outright crazy.

3) Why Not:
Neel and Rashi both have miserably failed at their first romantic endeavor. Will they keep cursing their rotten luck and ask why? Or will they reclaim the charge of their lives to embrace the second chance and say why not?

4) Immeasurable Nouns:
Aditi and Kartik are the academic stars of their class and each other’s arch rivals. Aditi hates boys. But Kartik secretly loves her. To win her heart, he must wait for the right moment and make every move cautiously. One day, during an English class, that moment presents itself in its full bloom.

5) Madly In Marriage:
Swayam and Soniya have not left any stone unturned to avoid marrying each other. But their families see this union as a match made in heaven and are hellbent to see it through.

6) Hearts And Ice-creams:
Tushar is obsessed with finding his childhood crush who disappeared out of his life without a clue. Fifteen years later, will he be able to move on or destiny has yet to play its last trick?

Unleash that river is a collection of seven short stories. Each story was well written with amazing characterizations. Apart from the writing style, the title of each chapter were fascinating as well as they alone had me wondering what will happen in the story.

Some of my favourite were Immeasurable nouns, madly in marriage and why not?

One of the main reason why I like this collection is that the writing clearly stated sometimes saying "I love you" is not enough, a person need to put effort, spend time and really just respect other person's decisions and choices. Surely vast distances to get across but if you truly care about the happiness of that person then putting one step at a time towards love won't be a problem.

Have you ever read a short stories collection where words are just entrancing and poetic? Only a few people are blessed with this sort of ability and the author happens to be one of them. Each story has a different essence but the emotion in them is absolutely beautiful. I know I'll like the story when it completely captivates me and even after finishing it, I just sit there and think how it affected me.

These seven stories encompasses various emotions of love, admiration and feelings of happiness. With constructive and good writing style, this book has been an immense enjoy to read.

3.5 out of 5 stars.

Love is a very complicated feeling. Some say it flows like a river channeling through hearts & universe makes all possible efforts to unite lovers. It conspire to make their destinies intertwine with each other.
It's as the saying goes, 'If you want something in life, the whole Universe conspires for you to get it.'
We also come across people saying, 'I ended up with you because the entire universe conspired to help me find you.'

The book has seven romantic short stories. Each story is written in a very realistic manner. It feels like they've been taken from our everyday ordinary lives. I'm glad that I've finished reading this. It's been quite sometime since I came across such a lighthearted read.

What mostly captivated is the title of each story. They're so different from each other yet they feel closely interconnected to each other. The following are their names:
1. Keys
2. Dot Every 'i' & Cross Every 't'
3. Why Not?
4. Immeasurable Nouns
5. Madly in Marriage
6. Hearts & Ice-creams
7. First Flight Second Chance

My favourite ones being keys which talks about how love can be beautiful. Hearts & ICE-CREAMS leaves a very lasting cute impression of love in our hearts. And Dot every I story gives a glimpse that love can be still be old school yet refreshing. Also, madly in Marriage talks about how love can happen accidentally regardless of what circumstances the couple go to. All these stories have a common theme - if love has to happen then it will happen no matter what consequences or turbulent times it maybe. Lovers are destined to meet irrespective of what turmoil they may go through.

Lot of humorous instances have been added throughout the book. This is what captivated me the most. Cover is beautiful. Language is simple with easy vocabulary. Narration is okay. Overall, though the book is from romance genre, it's still a very good read.

RATINGS - 3.5/5

This book is a collection of seven beautiful love stories by Dhaval Rathod. This book is different from any else book because every story has its own significance and every chapter is different from the other. Some stories are about arrange marriage, some about fate while some about love at first sight. Moreover, either if you are a teenager or an adult, you will definitely feel connected to one story or the other. As, some stories took place in school or teenage life, while some at workplace and some after marriage. The author did a great job in choosing the stories on behalf of the age group.

This book was a light, easy breezy, quick read and its good to have such books when you have been in a relentless spiral of depressing books and need some light book to refresh you and not let you put yourself in a reading slump.

The only flaw I felt in this book was that the storyline/writing style in this one, didn't get very well with me. it was good, but not that engaging or captivating. Other thing, one or two stories from all were a little bit unrealistic. Nonetheless, it was a nice one time read and I would recommend this to beginners and to those who like short stories and cute love stories.

Each story in this collection is the length it needs to be. Some are vignettes with closure; others are a "story" that takes some time to tell. The writing is flawless. Characters are developed exactly to the extent they need to be. "Supporting characters" are not flat but rather are interesting in their own right (though, appropriately, not as fully developed).

Each of these stories was incredibly immersive. I found myself wishing that each story was longer because I felt so connected to the characters' storylines. I felt like the characters could've been contained in full-length novels, rather than in just 20 or so pages.
And there were a few stories in this collection that I deeply, deeply loved and want to read over and over again.

Unleash that river by Dhaval Rathod is a collection of seven short cute romantic stories ranging from first love, young adult romance to love from arranged marriage as well as second chances. Pretty cover and the mysterious title were enough for me to pick this book.
Each story in this book is unique and portrays a different aspect of love and relationships. These stories well illustrate the phase of falling in love with the partner. The development of plot and characters is really charming. My personal favourite was "Madly in marriage." The story is a good example of how sometimes things we hate can unexpectedly bring a good fortune in our lives. The book is written in simple and understandable language. The narration style is good enough to keep the reader engaged throughout. Stories were so close to reality and easy to connect with. I wish these stories would have been a little bit longer cause I got deeply connected with these personalities while reading. Overall it was a light and relaxing book and a good one-time read. I recommend this book to all who love to read short stories. This book can be a good companion on a short journey.

Unleash that river by Dhaval Rathod is a collection of seven short love stories. From strangers to people falling in love, from arrange marriage to accidental encounters and how one thing leads to another to bind the two souls together.

The stories were cute, lovey-dovey with fights, love, sadness and happiness and you would want to see them together at the end and the stories were easy to go by but I feel they weren't plausible, infact far from for it. The stories lacked the genuinity, everything was so instant and missed the strong build up which lead me to not feel for any of the characters. I mean, I couldn't care less.

Talking about the characters, some were just rude, stupid and condescending but they were rather portrayed as strong or cute which made me not like them even more. Overall, it's a fast paced, one day read but it had the potential to be more engaging only if the stories were executed in a realistic way.

Short stories is a recent addition to my reading genres. I have never really understood much about short stories, but I am starting to appreciate them more.
This book is a collection of 7 short stories that are of romantic genre. I have rarely appreciated Indian romantic novels. They feel like very naive and baseless to me. This book was a mixture of feelings for me. I enjoyed some of the stories and didn’t connect to some at all. The problem with a collection of short stories is that the author has to be really good at differentiating all the stories. This book however couldn’t do that when it came to the characters. The book was not my personal favorite and it was a okay-ish read for me. The language was simple. The cover itself is very weak and not impactful. I might have liked this book if I was maybe a little younger and a beginner at read.
Overall, it is a 2/5 ⭐️ read for me.

Unleash that river is a beautiful collection of seven romantic short stories. I love short stories more than enormous novels which thrive to arrive at an end whereas short stories, I suppose always end with possibilities and leave spaces for reader's imagination.

The stories of Unleash that River are coated in delicate dressing of love and affection. I liked the pencraft of the author as the language is lucid and allows the reader to connect with the characters.

Also, it's a short read which is also a plus point as one can read it in a day. Coming on stories I find the last two stories the best amongst all others. Overall it's a good read for romance and fiction lovers.

This book is a collection of seven short stories which are of romantic genre. Stories 'Madly in Marriage' and 'Why Not' are the best of the lot and are fresh to read. Rest other stories are not that fresh and fail to bind the reader's interest because of cliched dialogues and rushed plot. I enjoyed reading the author's previous book, A Season of Shooting Stars, and hence had high hopes.

The cover is beautiful and the book's size is perfect for a single read. The author has targeted the teenage and young adult generation as his main readers.

In Unleash That River by Dhaval Rathod, a world of daring love and uncontrollable desire take control of many people that are just like you and me. In this world, we are on a search for ourselves and try to find out who we really are through the trials and tribulations we claim to be part of our lives. We smile, cry, and laugh, but we in turn experience pleasure, pain, anger and sadness all within a matter of mere seconds. Author Dhaval Rathod takes this perspective of the world to another level with his short stories in this book.

When I choose a novel to read, the title 'Unleash That River' is what grabs my attention, it compelled me to want to find out what the mystery was behind the title. I wanted to discover what emotions it would cause me to feel and how I would look at the world after reading such a book. I can tell you right now, it gave me a different understanding about the world and the love that one can accidentally fall into day by day

Each story in its unique way has a love that encompasses all that we try to search for in ourselves with the help of exploring others in the process.

The book consists of seven short stories of love and contemporary romance.
Those are :
1. Keys
2. Dot every 'i' and Cross every 't'
3. Why Not?
4. Immeasurable Nouns
5. Madly in Marriage
6. Hearts and Ice- creams
7. First flight Second chance

Each of them are unique in their own essence. It covers love at first sight, arranged marriage, childhood crushes as well as second chances. It explores the various twists and turns the heart goes through at various stages of life.

The writing style was simple with a good use of vocabulary. But the narration was not intriguing or captivating. Some plots were unrealistic.
I didn't like few of them. Because, to me, love is not that much easy. It takes time. It's a slow mo video , not an Instagram boomerang. You don't look at the person or talk for 5minutes and fall in love. (Opinions differ of course).

I will recommend it to the beginners , who would like to read short love stories.

If you like lyrical language with romantic short stories, then these stories are for you.

The seven stories in this collection are of people who everyone is familiar with and can relate to, as well as people who are so awkward that they make the story hard to believe. The characters are involved in awkward relationships, bothered by each other, and are unable to properly interact with other humans.

The dialogue between characters seems normal so as to make the characters’ problems seem outrageous as well as miniscule. Canty dives into each story as if the narrator and reader are already familiar with each other. He offers blunt descriptions of people to make them seem all the more real.

🍁My Take🍁
I am a big fan of this genre and It feels so good read short stories, the book is written in extreme simple language which makes it easy to read. It's such a short one and anyone could read it in an hour. All the stories have something new in them, something beautiful which is hidden and the reader have to find it. It was such a heartwarming read, at times I could spot mistakes but they were really less.
.
I love how the author focused on building characters and making them look more real. Some stories are YA and some are middle aged, this is the reason I loved the book more, a reader gets a diverse read altogether. I felt emotional pangs after every story ended, it wrenched my heart by giving a beautiful message. For me, the first and last stories are more close to my heart. Will definitely recommend it.

At times, it becomes dry and seeks the abundance of a big-hearted lover. In other scenarios, the river gets frozen and looks for the warmth of a passionate soul. 'Unleash That River' is an anthology of seven short stories of love and contemporary romance that explores the various twists and terrains the heart goes through at various stages of life. The themes of the stories range from first love and young adult romance to love through arranged marriage as well as second chances.

Views:

Romance is undoubtedly the genre on which most of the recent books are written. And most of them are not worth reading at all. Before picking this one up I had doubt that this one will contain the same stereotypical cheesy romantic stories. But I'm glad it's otherwise.

The seven stories in this books are tales from our day to day life. We either have been in the same situation or have seen friends in the same situation atleast once. The subject varies from blossoming love, love marriage, arrange marriage, breakup and every other thing related to love. My favourite story is the seventh one in the book. It's just beautiful.

The stories have a fresh appeal though they don't sound absolutely new. The stories are also not unnecessarily stretched and kept crisp. The language is easy to comprehend and makes the stories even more interesting. The narration is also up to the mark. Overall it's a nice romantic anthology book.

Rating and Recommendations:

3.5/5. It's a nice collection of romantic tales. It's a light read and can be enjoyed by anyone.

Book Reviwew : Unleash That River Seven Romantic Short Stories

" The tittle of the Book - Unleash That River is a great surprise which I got to know after reading the book. The cover of the book is filled with so much solace and peaceful blend of thoughts as there are blue clouds under which there is a image of a couple which gave a soothing effect to the tittle.
I had read the author's previous work - A Season Of Shooting Stars which made me more connected to these stories as I loved the writing style in that book.
Now,
There are seven short stories of love and contemporary Romance which is shown in this book which makes it little unique as usually when we get something to read it's a whole novel or a book on one story but in this book one can read seven stories which has a deep emotional connect with the readers at Large.

The seven Stories are:
1) keys
2)Dot Every 'i' and Cross Every 't'
3) Why Not?
4) Immeasurable Nouns
5) Madly in Marriage
6) Hearts and Ice cream
7) First Flight Second Chance

Now, I liked the Idea of Varun when he said I'll like you to every 'I' and I'll cross your every 'T'. It's a very beautiful way to express love which made me fall in love with the tittle which justified with the story.
There was a story where the author has tried it's best to make the readers understand that why writing journals in important in our life which gives us a great mindset to take things in a right manner.
Each story has different characters and is written in a different manner which will give you a mixture of stories to read in a single book.
Things I liked :
1) The language is lucid and simple
2) There is something special in each story
3) The stories are short and sweet so it takes less time to finish. Hence, it adds to the quality of the book.
4) I loved the way the author has used the concept of bringing out Unleash that River as the their love in each story is compared to the river which has no ends.
5) I would like to recommend this book to romantic lovers who want some change and this will give them postivity.

I found this book through an ad in Instagram. I'm not a romantic stories reader but my present situation drifted me towards romance.
This book is a collection of 7 romantic short stories.

1) Key : Dhyey visits his mother after a long time but surprisingly finds Nishita there. Their first meet gives way to the start of a wonderful love. The naughtiness of their love is interesting to read.

2) Dot every 'i' and cross every 't' : What a timing I can totally connect with this story as this precise moment I'm on way to take my wedding vows - arranged marriage. But neither me or our families are this orthodox, so we are allowed to all craziness we desire to take. I got to know my guy through phone first but have have also met him some times. PS - He hasn't proposed me yet..

3) Why not? : Rashi and Neel two different people with one thing I in common - broken past relationship. Will they gain courage to move on in their tracks of life and love?

4) Immeasurable nouns : 8 years of school crush of two teen-agers and how they (Karthik and Aditi) how they recognise one's feelings are resiprocated by the other becomes the story.

5) Madly in marriage : Swayam - Sonia two people who do not believe marriages are made in heaven, in short do not believe in arrange marriage are pushed into it. How they find their stupid love in their married life becomes the story.

6) First flight second chance : Amrita an interior designer after a bad breakup is pushed to board a flight with her aviophobia. But this travel turns to a happy flight due to a friendly scientist Dhyey. Their casual meet turns to a odyssey to love.

7) Hearts and ice-creams : Tushar an ice-cream lover who holds long crush for a girl he had seen in his childhood in an ice-cream parlor. With age he moves on in his life but still searches for his childhood crush. One day he's connected to Grishma, a bubbly girl with same love for ice-creams; their talk gives way to attraction... But what if he suddenly meets his childhood crush..?

This short book of 135 pages is an anthology of seven short stories of love and romance.

I don't wanna go in detail of every story because that is already available on goodreads and other sites. What I wanna tell you is that this book is a perfect concoction of contemporary romance, modern thought process and ancient traditions though simple. It tells us that love can knock our door at anytime and we got to be ready for it rather than staying and contemplating and recontemplating our past. And always be ready for second chances, and that our one bad experience with love cannot define the institution itself. It again tells us that love through arrange marriages can still happen. And that some people come in our life to just teach us some life lessons and disappear and it's on us to not hold on the them but move forward in life. To value those things most that we have with us rather than thinking of those that we don't have. And that these feelings of love are immeasurable. So get on with this book, and believe that love can knock at your door, maybe it's taking its time, maybe it's got stuck in a traffic like Godot, but it will definitely find it's way to you. Be hopeful and keep loving. And Unleash that river of emotions that you have held back so long.

It is quite a nice, light and short book and a one-day read. If you love Indie short stories and enjoy reading romantic books, then this book is for you. I enjoyed this book. It was after a long time that I read an Indian author and I kinda loved the stories, obviously because there was an Indian touch to it. All the stories are simple yet beautifully put with a unique concept but portraying one single theme I.e. Love. All these stories will make you believe that flower of love can bloom even at unusual of places with people that we never thought could be possible to live with or love. How love is powerful enough to change your mindset and your life for good or further good but never bad.

This book is perfect for the readers of Ravinder Singh and Durjoy Dutta. Or anyone who likes to read short stories.

Title:- Unleash That River : Seven Romantic Short Stories
Author:- Dhaval Rathod
Publisher:- Notion Press
Publication date:- 1 Jan 2019
Language:- English

Love is a river. It springs spontaneously from the lofty hearts and makes its own way to unite with its generous reciprocators.

At times, it becomes dry and seeks the abundance of a big-hearted lover. In other scenarios, the river gets frozen and looks for the warmth of a passionate soul. And in some cases, it may just be ready and waiting to leap forth from its humble abode. All it takes is just a little stroke of fate for that river to unleash itself and flow in its full glory.

'Unleash That River' is an anthology of seven short stories of love and contemporary romance that explores the various twists and terrains the heart goes through at various stages of life. The themes of the stories range from first love and young adult romance to love through arranged marriage as well as second chances.

The story titles are
1. Key
2. Dot every 'i' and cross every 't'
3. Why not?
4. immeasurable nouns
5. madly in marriage
6. first flight second chance
7. heats and ice-creams

This Book Didn't Let Me Rest Until I Completed All The Stories!!The Author Created Such Amazing Stories And Characters That U Can't Come Out From And Can't Stop Thinking Of!!

Each one is beautiful and somewhere represents love at first sight. My favorites out if these are "I messurable Nouns" because it talks little about books and our protagonist was also a bookworm. And "Madly in Marriage", It's about cute couple Swayam and Sonia. Both don't believe in marriage. And I don't seriously want to provide a spoiler here.

The book is a collection of 7 shorts stories with different flavors.
.
Keys- Dhyey returns to his mom for a short break unknown of the fact that her mom doesn't live alone.Nishita also lives with her.
.
Dot every 'i' and cross every 't'- Varun and Puja are coming together with their family's consent for an arrange marriage. To know each other they come up with a very unique solution.
.
Why not- Famous RJ Rashi is smitten by Neel who comes to his show but fails to express.
.
Immeasurable Nouns- Aditi has been Kartik's crush from childhood. Now when English teacher put them together into a pair, they not so good bond starts to evolve.
.
Madly in Marriage- Though both of them didn't want to marry each other Swayam and Soniya succumb to their parents' logics and do so.
.
Hearts and Ice-creams- Tushar is determined to find his childhood crush whom he found in Thandak ice cream parlor when he was seven.
.
First flight Second Chance- Amrita is herat broken and she is damn scared of flight. But she has to go to Mumbai by her own.
.

My take: All the seven stories are different in flavor. But they are cute and soooo feel good. Will it happen in real life or not- I don't want to go into that question. But will you smile while reading these stories? Hell yah. Though not all are up to the mark, but most of them are really nice. My favorite among them is "Immeasurable Nouns". I loved both Aditi and Kartik. The " add tea between two eyes" just stole my heart.
.
I was smiling through out the book and I really think that's a big achievement to the author as he brought smile into the reader's face. This is a perfect read for a lazy weekend. And I would love to recommend this to everyone there.

Reviewing short stories can be a difficult task sometimes especially since the plot of the story has to be conveyed in a matter of few pages before the author moves on to the next story. It also doesn't give much option for the reader to be immersed in a story, because as soon as you start to understand the characters and storylines, their journey has already come to an end which makes the connection between a reader and the characters a flimsy one especially if the narrative isn't impactful enough to leave a mark.

Unleash the River by Dhaval Rathod is a collection of seven short stories that explore different forms of love; First love, giving love a second chance, pining for someone for years, love after marriage etc.

Each story follows individual characters and is set in a premise that is different from others and the thing that is common between all of them is that they find love where they least expected it.

But like I said earlier, it's always a hit or miss when it comes to short stories and this one was a miss for me. The characters were one dimensional and even though they were supposed to be different, their mannerisms and characteristics were a lot a like which made me feel like they didn't have any individuality.

I feel a lot of people would be able to relate to the circumstances that the characters in the book face which is why they'll probably even like it more than I did.

I finished this book in one sitting as it hardly takes 7 minutes for a single story and the language is very simple. The cover is pretty and the title does justice to the book. I didn't really enjoy it but if you are a beginner and are looking for cozy romance short stories then you should pick this up.

When it's the right time, nothing can stop love from knocking at your door. Dhaval Rathod in his collection of short stories, 'Unleash That River' pens down seven beautiful tales of unwavering love. From young teenage love to love through marriage, this beautiful feeling is explored throughout the pages. Love comes in many forms, but is it always successful?

The title is so unique that it caught my sense from the very beginning, and as I read on I released how apt it is for the narration. The seven stories are all different in their characterisation and storyline, but the feeling of love binds them together. Through his words the author brought the characters as well as the emotion to the surface. My favourite story was 'Hearts and Ice-creams'; 'Madly in Marriage' was a close second. Each of them had a fulfilling and lucid tone to them. I truly enjoyed the book.

The flaw was its very narration. While the author is truly gifted in his narrative skill to envelope the readers in poetic fiction, there were parts where the story seemed disconnected. I couldn't entirely absorb myself with the ongoing. It might be because they were short tales or that we wanted more out of the storyline, either way, I happened to lose engagement with it.

Overall, I definitely recommend it as a one-time, light read. It is super calming and a short read. If you enjoy romantic, short stories, this is the book for you.

Unleash that river is a collection of seven short romantic stories ranging from different situations to different sorts of people.
The name of the first short story is "keys" which is indeed a very interesting heading.

The second story that follows is titled " Dot every 'I' and Cross every 't' " which is a very very intriguing title.

The third story is titled "Why Not". Following it we have my favourite story of the book which is titled "Immeasurable Nouns" .

The fifth, sixth and the seventh stories are titled "Madly in Marriage" , "Hearts and Ice - Creams" and "First Flight Second Chance" respectively.

✨All the stories are very witty and I must say that the writer has beautifully portrayed human emotions.
✨The best part about the book is it's endings as they are very unpredictable. I always thought that it would be some cliche ending but the Writer always proved me wrong and gave a very twisted yet happy endings.
✨The language of the book is beautiful, easily understandable and leaves its impact on the Readers.
✨All the stories are very different and unique in their own way.
✨The title of the book I think somewhat gives an ambiguous air to the stories and could have been something more elegant and simple. Less is more, and if the Writer would have stuck to that I think this book would have been a hit.
✨The cover of the book is plain and Elegant.
✨This is a short read and recommended to all romance and short story lovers

____
On the topic of Rom-Com , this is a book which felt like romantic comedies as there are 7 short stories inside it ranging from first love to arrange marriage to broken past relationships to school crush to love in arrange marriage to casual meet turned love to searching for childhood crush. All of these stories have a poignant writing style and deep meaning overall the language used is easy so any one can breeze through this book . They are also so funny and relatable to all age group I personally think. The author has really tried to connect with the readers of different age group which is clear due to different voices from different characters overall. I loved how the author made me care about the characters though i only knew them for less than 50 pages each
