Rate this book
What's the last thing a girl expects on a peaceful summer break at the lake house? That she'll get kidnapped, transported to another realm, and delivered to a warrior fae prince as his FATED MATE.
That's what happened to little ole' me, Eve Stone. Only that it's not love that the breathtakingly handsome fae wants from me. Aradaen Starlight wants to save his kingdom, and for that he needs my virginity. Mating with me will make him invincible, but that will be that. He can't get serious with me, because he's bound to further his race with a woman of his kind, not to mention that I, as a human, am way beneath fae royalty. To his courts, it's a jest of nature that I of all people should be the Starlight prince's fated mate. But when it turns out that I have magic in my blood, I become interesting to them. The prince and I make an agreement in order to save our worlds, but we cannot fall in love. If we do, all hell will break loose.

Well Ana's been a very bad girl in her new prequel to Fae's of darkness series!! With deliciously hot steamy sex scenes you know that it's gonna be another amazing series!!! In this first book we meet the beautiful king Prince Aradaen of the starlight fae. He is eve and every women's fantasy lover with a face and body made for all kinds of sin. Their is a prophecy that says Aradean 's fated mate will make him more powerful than he already is,but no one thought it would be a human women who would become such a powerful fae warriors mate. What's a girl to do when the man she has fantasized about from her favorite show actually exists and needs to have sex with her, but that someone else will be his queen and carry his children! Another fabulous short read from one of my favorite guilty pleasure writers!!! I love Ana's storytelling and characters so much!! The men are hot and hunky and know just how to make you feel all kinds of wonderful !! Can't get enough of This paranormal world that ana has created!! All kinds of yummy guys!! This can be read as a standalone. Their are characters mentioned from the The Fae of Darkness series but it won't matter if you haven't read the others yet. Let me end by doing a shout out to the cover!!! One of my very favorite covers and so very eye catching!! Until next time luv's💕💋

Eve Stone is obsessed with Aradaen Starlight...a fictional Fae character in a fictional world. She is drawn to him in a way that no other man draws her but he isn’t real...or is he?

Aradaen Starlight finds his fated mate in Eve Stone and has her brought to him in his world. In order to save his kingdom he must mate with Eve to unlock his full powerful potential. Aradaen thought to use Eve for his own gain and push her aside to be with a woman of his own race to further his line. However, he doesn’t expect Eve...the fiery, passionate and strong female that calls to his soul.

Eve is special not only to Aradaen but to other beings in the mystical world and Aradaen soon finds that he may never be able to live without Eve. Is it too late for Aradaen to make amends and show Eve their love is worth fighting for? Can Aradaen save Eve from the forces around her that want her for more nefarious purposes? Will their fated mate bond stand the test of time?

This was good but it needed to be about 100 pages longer. Everything in this story went way too fast. I felt like I had whiplash through the whole story. That being said the heat between Eve and Aradaen was yummy and the story was good. It had a lot of potential!

Cringe

The headline pretty much sums up how I feel about this book. There's no plot, just random scenes of a girl being obsessed with a tv show, finding out he is real and that they are fated mates. Despite them being fated mates, he only wants her for the power that she can give him. They have sex and then he shuns her so that he can have babies with someone else. The girl gets kidnapped, he saves her, the end.

Aradaen Starlight and Eve Stone are very different one is Fae Royalty the other and 18 year old girl that has fantasies of Aradaen but in her world he doesn't exist he's a computer game not real so when she gets yanked into the world of the Fae with there magic and war she's scared disappointed and enraged know one wants to be told that there only purpose is to give power threw sex and then they will be discarded for a true Fae women. At first Eve resist but when Aradaen is enjured protecting her from and assassin she gives in and it changes both of them but Eve has plenty of enemies that want her gone. I enjoyed reading this book I wasn't sure what to expect especially from how it started I will admit that anything involving fantasy games would normally have my eyes glaze over and my brain go numb but. This book moved fast wish there had been more of it though.

I was allowed to read and advance copy of this novella and this is my honest review.

Can not do it... I have read and loved Calin before but this one I can not read.

The world build for me is not my cup of tea. The FMC is very immature. The MC is straight from a TV series she is obsessed with and get her rocks off too....regularly. It was just an immediate turn off for me. Only made it 30%

I feel like I need my mind washed.

Happy reading,
DD

This is one of my favorite authors. She has become my go to when I feel restless and want to read but just can’t decide which book. I’ve only got over 15,000 on my reader. When I say she’s my go to, I don’t mean it as a second choice. I love her work and she will always be at the top of the list. But when I just can’t get in to mood for any genre, I pick her books up and KNOW without a doubt I will be sucked in. And this one was no different.

The prince is so magical and lovely. But he has to breed with another Fae to continue his race. But his fated mate will give him power for battle that only she can give. Little does he know, one night with her isn’t going to be enough. Or will it? Why can’t he just walk away forever? Maybe he can. Eve, his fated mate has fallen hard. Yet she holds her head high. Even as he sits on his throne beside Klementine, the one he’s supposed to have children with.

The world in this book is packed with surprises and the magic of it all really takes you to another world. It’s all written so well. There’s a really nice scene with hot steamy love that melts your ereader. It’s a quick read and just right. Especially when you don’t have much time before having to work again. I can’t wait for the next in the series and already have it downloaded.

I have mostly criticisms of this novel. It’s a nice concept with a good basis to write a story. The way the plot line was executed left more to be desired. I liked the idea behind the story more than the what I ended up reading. I have a sneaking suspicion this story was originally FanFiction which was rewritten to become more of an original work. Which is fine if it wasn’t all over. It has big ideas and tries to merges subplots with the main plot line. The end result is this clunky story. It reads more like a rough draft written by a younger author.

My biggest complaint is the pacing of the story. It’s super fast paced to nonexistent. Events unfolded very quickly and then there’s a time skip. A summary is thrown the reader’s way without much explanation of how things reached that point. It forced me to have to accept that THIS HAPPENED and move on. The details of it was such a leap that I couldn’t logic over how it happened. I’m simply told and the story jumps along. It made me not really enjoy the story much. On the other hand, I ended up reading through the entire story very quickly. There’s wasn’t much going on. It starts with a drama point, which creates a couple of drama points. The main plot line is kind of mentioned while not really addressed.

I wasn’t into the romance between the male lead and female protagonist. Eve’s focus seems to be sex and only sex. Her personality is centered around that and being sad that Prince Ardean won’t start a real relationship with her.

This true mate business is mentioned A LOT and doesn’t really break down what the hell it’s supposed to mean. What little is explained makes me confused over why Klementine is so surprised and disappointed in the Prince’s choice in love interest. I mean, I get it to a point. Her point of view should be different considering she’s a fae which has a very different way in viewing the world compared to a human. This true mate business leaves one with no real choice over their attraction. This should be more normalized instead of the fae being so weirdly accepting in a begrudging way. If anything, that whole love triangle business was poorly done. It makes Klementine exist only to provide drama for the female protagonist and male lead to angst over.

Sinboy’s addiction to Eve’s blood for power is kind of glossed over or rushed through. There’s no real sense of emergency other than OMG EVE DISAPPEARED FOR A SECOND. His greedy look in his eye is often mentioned every time Sinboy comes into the picture. Yet the story doesn’t do anything with it. It starts with pointing out that he’ll do something and jumps to it already happened. What about this addiction of lust for power? Are we just going to gloss over that???

The main plot line is a big war between fae kingdoms. That’s as much as I know about it. It doesn’t make a huge impact on the story itself. You could remove that entire plot and the story will remain unchanged. I’m not sure where the author was going with it. The focus of the story remained on the main couple and skips to all their drama. Yet the main plot isn’t really touched on except in a summary. It’s pretty forgettable.

The world building is pretty neat. I like the details given to the reader. Small details are kind of thrown out there like you’re supposed to already know. It makes it confusing over why this detail matters and why it hasn’t been incorporated throughout the story instead of just the one moment.

That’s my most of my complaints. I have a lot of personal opinions over smaller details yet it doesn’t affect my opinion of the story. It’s alright. Not the worst thing out there. I’d recommend this mostly for people who want a quick read and is ok reading unpolished work without it removing the reader from the story. It’s short and has a sex scene. There’s romance and drama. I’ll probably reading the next novel in this installment if it’s this quick to read. Mostly because I’m curious over what author plans to do next than any personal attachment to the story. I like the ideas behind the world created more than whatever the hell is going on story wise.

Okay, I literally logged into my computer instead of the app so that I could write a more aggressive review. I rate this probably closer to 1.5, ONLY because I really thought that the plot /could/ have been great.
First things first, the author felt the need to keep driving in the fact that she looked like a "biker" or alt and was so nerdy and it was really irritating. It felt /way/ too try-hard. Then the fact that she says "I'll be damned" that often is just like, so gross. Maybe that's just me but I don't know ANYONE who even says that aside from like, 50-year-old men so these two things in combination already had me cringing within the first few chapters.

***SPOILERS BELOW***

Eve leaves her life as a nerdy, leather jacket wearing, "my brother picks on me", jerking it to an elf Lord from a series girl to follow a shadow figure through the night to the dock of her family's summer home where she gets dragged underwater and dropped into the Fae realm. This is the part that I actually thought was a cool idea and was like, "Wow, maybe this will turn around". No. It didn't.

Come to find out Eve has Fae ancestry and hidden magic and was dropped in the Fae realm at the feet of the elf lord that she has been jerking it to from the nerdy series. APPARENTLY, she is the fated mate of this elf lord, the realm is real so the series is based on their reality, & he needs to bang her to tap into his MOST ULTIMATE POWER... Wow, so that's a lot going on here. Her blood can create all-powerful armies (or banging her I guess for this Fae lord works too, which REALLY not sure why) so now she has to worry about being used as a weapon from the enemy army that's encroaching on her Fae lord's land. Oh, AND he's got some elf baddie on the side that he needs to further his race with and marry so they have a Fae queen so, Eve is basically just there to occasionally slip the D in to recharge and he's gonna pay her a bunch of money, give her property, fancy clothes, and let her go back to the human realm to see her family every now and then... No big deal.

So OBVIOUSLY, since they're "fated mates" they have FEELINGS eventually that he is fighting because he has A DUTY TO HIS PEOPLE TO UPHOLD. But, he hops in front of an arrow for sis 'cause he decides he can't live without her or something. He bangs her ONCE and then he's like, "my dick is too hard for this chick and I don't care about furthering my race anymore I just want this human's pp". His fae side chick is pissed that he now has feelings for Eve so she kidnaps her with the help of the shadow figure guy that snatched her in the beginning. Obviously, Fae lord tracks them down. He kills the shadow guy and Eve says that she has NO SYMPATHY FOR HIM but for SOME IDIOTIC REASON when he goes to kill the Fae side chick, Eve is like, "noooo, she loves you, just let her liiiiive", and they let her go. EVEN THOUGH SHE KNOWS THAT SIDECHICK WILL USE HER-BLOOD-IS-A-WEAPON INFO AGAINST THEM. This makes absolutely no fucking sense and pisses me off so much.

Also, the fact that the sex scene uses the words, "CREAM" and phrases like, "CREAMED PUBIC HAIRS" made me gag SO FUCKING HARD - My husband asked what was wrong, so I let him, an unintellectual male, read the page to confirm my disgust and HE TOO WAS LIKE, *cringe* "what the fuck is this garbage!?".

Since I'm an idiot and bought both books 1 and 2 on Amazon, I will be reading the second book if only to leave another scalding review. Stay tuned for another episode of | *gag* "ewww" *cringe* | .

This Novella is amazing! WoWZAme; I really hope that within the series there’s a chance to see Aradaen and Eve again. They’re a dynamic pair that I genuinely fell in love with. Who can’t relate to wanting to meet and fall in love with their favorite Fae? Really.

Eve is a human girl who loves the “fantasy world” and its beautiful Fae leader. Aradaen Starlight is a Fae Prince who ultimately protects not only his own realm Sterravega – in the Hidden World, but Earth as well. They are “fated mates”. This is a bit of a shock to both of them.

This is a novella so it moves fast but it certainly doesn’t disappoint. You get the action and drama that Ana Calin is so good at delivering. You also get the HOT SEXY CHEMISTRY that she’s a pro at writing. The Darkest Fae is a page turner and you will LOVE IT. I have read the Lord of Winter series to which this book is a prequel and this fits in very nicely to help clear up some possible questions.

As I said in the beginning of my review, I hope we get to see some more of Aradaen and Eve in other books. I just can’t believe their story ends here. Even if it’s just a bit of action in one of the other amazing novels Ana has in store for the Hidden World.

Thank you Ana for sharing your Hidden World family with the human world. It’s been my pure pleasure to follow you and ALL of your Hidden World family through their journeys.

I received an advanced copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.

It keeps getting better

Ana Calin has become one of my favourite authors, at a time when there is a huge selection of different Author's to choose from.
This series is one that has so many tantalising directions it can go in, especially when Ms Calin uses her natural ability with descriptive writing to keep us wandering where the next step in this amazing series will go.
Fairytales are seen to be book's children should read, but when written for adult's a world is opened where nothing is beyond being possible giving an author such as Ms Calin a blank canvas to create some of the most amazing tales possible.
Her book's cover so many area's from simple mystery to mind blowing fantasy and magic, any story she puts her talent into takes you into both the mind and heart of the characters who become like people you have known forever, so any little thing that affects them tends to deeply effect us.
This uncanny ability is a talent most Author's strive for, so once a reader finds an author who can transport them personally into the different book's they create generally your waiting for the next adventure they present to us so we can delve into the wonders they have given us.
The Darkest Fae runs in conjunction with the Winter Fae series and I cannot wait to see where this tantalising set of events end up.
If Fae, fantasy and magical adventure is an area that you love reading about then grab this novel today and start a wonderful journey into this awesome series.

This was seriously a dream come true. I mean , who hasn't drooled over their favorite fantasy character. *Raises hand. Spoiler alert, I sure have. The starlight fae prince has haunted Eve's dreams for months. Ever since she spotted the morally gray male from the popular tv series. A trip to the lake house changes everything when a shadow lures her from the comfort of the house to the water that transports her to another world. Where her dark princes not only exists, but needs her , his chosen mate, to come into his full strength. The kicker? After their union, he plans to marry someone else.
It's a tangled web of myth, emotions, and priorities packed into this short story. I enjoyed the fantastical elements, and twists, but i wanted more development between Eve and Prince Aradaen Starlight. I wanted to see the untouchable Fae bend a little more than he did.

I loved how unique this story is. It is playing alongside the Fae Of Darkness series and I love how it is incorporated into it. It is well written and the characters are stunningly developed. The banter that goes through Eve's mind is just fantastic as it is like we all do at times. Aradaen Is stubborn and kind all in one. He is protective and ruthless when needed. The story is a quick read but extremely addictive as the Fae Of Darkness is as well. It is addictive and has so many twists and turns throughout it. It has action, so much drama, and hot chemistry in it. This will draw you in and keep you glued to the edge of your seat. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

★ Pulled in by fantasy and prophecy ★

—>>> Eve finds herself standing in front of the one male who has been the object of her fantasies, Prince Aradaen. The only problem was, he had existed only in books…until that moment. Fated to be his mate due to her blood magic and as a descendant of the fire fae, she was essential to tipping the scales in the fight against evil. For Aradaen, he did not want nor expect to like this common human female, but his heart told his something else. This story was fast paced and will bring you right to the doorstep of a parallel story in this writer’s fae realms, Lord of Winter.

This prequel is too cool for a simple prequel, so begin the serie with this story if you can.
This time the plot is: what would you do if you found out your fantasy dream guy happens to exist for real? What if you found out he is your soul mate? What if nether of you believes it? What if in this new fantastic magic world humans are trash and your lover is already promised to another?
How fast can your dream turn into a nightmare...?
So many things happen in this prequel you will definitely will like to read it before you dive head first in this great story. It can totally be read as a standalone, none the less, so fear not! :)

The Darkest Fae by Ana Calin is a fast paced paranormal romance between Aradaen and Eve. An intriguing and suspenseful steamy romance filled with lost of twists and turns. Aradaen lived a long time and was waiting for his fated mate to become stronger and win the war. Eve was always picked on by her brother and wasn’t happy with her life. Everything changes for Eve when she decides to follow a shadow leaving her bedroom one night. A great addition to the Fae of Darkness series by Ana Calin. I received an ARC to read for my honest opinion.

The Darkest Fae a stand-alone short story by Ana Calin.

The writing was superb. Paired with both the world building and the character development, I devoured it nearly instantaneous. However, it ended so soon! Far too short. While I get that was the point, I feel robbed of a longer more slow-burn and building relationship for Eve and the Prince. Alas, the truly cliche and expected plot line left little to wonder at.

I’m planning on reading the continuation with Arielle and Lysander by Calin soon. I enjoy this world far too much.

Lots to like!

Bit of a mixed review here - loads to like and the story / characters are promising BUT it all feels very rushed, like the passage of time is unclear and the story skips over loads of character building opportunities and key events on the story, which I think are fundamental to building the story and the characters.

It’s like the story is told from afar and you never really get to know the characters and or get a build up to the story. Great outline, but not quite there for me which is a big shame as I was very intrigued at the start.

I really love this authors books and this one didn’t disappoint. It was well written and the story and characters were well developed. I loved the character dynamics and watching them grow and evolve. The story was excellent. It had action, suspense, twists and turns, intrigue, emotion and hot chemistry. I’d highly recommend this book!! It’s another excellent addition to this authors repertoire!!

A really amazing book!

Okay once again, i have devoured many series and books, but this one ranks in my top 5 favourites. I know what people are thinking, why didn't you rank it with 5 stars then? Well, that's because no book is perfect. But, this is as close as it gets. Through all the books I've read and devoured, this is one of 5 i couldn't put down. I have high hopes as I read the rest of this series!

The basic concept of the story made me laugh out loud as Eve actually gets her darkest desire but with a bit of a twist. Although a quick read, it was hot. And a great prequel to the series that is a guilty pleasure to read. The characters were fun and I liked and hated but understood them all. Just a good read.

Fantasy becomes reality and Eve is caught in the middle. Aradaen is a movie myth come to life and isn't very happy that his fated mate is more human than the magical DNA in her system. Adventure, danger, passion and prejudices are brought to the forefront in this exciting quick read by Ana Calin. Fantastical reality at it's best!

don’t judge a book by its cover!

Not bad. Eve is pretty cool gal who falls into one of her favourite stories becoming a character. It’s silly fun read! Everyone is likeable however, the story is way to short and the plot is like a 1hr tv drama... could have been GoT or Lord
of the rings familiarity that made me like this book more, or less.

Me gustó. El romance esta en su punto y el spice es igual de bueno.

Starting to love this author. This storyline is just like the 2nd king of frost book. Which its a great story, but there could have been more detail like who this Prince is how the creator of the tv show knew the Prince was real. What theyre going to do about klementine and xerxes.

Sorry, not my cup of tea at all. I was deeply unimpressed by this, unoriginal idea with little substance. Some phrases really shouldn't appear in print, I won't specify which but if you read this book I'm sure you will work it out.
