Cora and her ghost speaking mother move to badlands they have been running from Cora ex who was well not a good guy. But they both feel safe in this town.

Cora heads to town to look for a job and runs into a friend and her true mate Havoc who she doesn't know anything about shifter life. He's already read to take her but is annoyed when someone makes his mate doubt he's single. Havoc is Alpha of his pack of wolves and he's no manwhore he sets that girl right and goes after his girl.
With the help of Cora mom she agrees to have drinks with him and the group.

Fun times and some misunderstanding and finding out about shifter life Cora does run. But she has second thoughts and stays. Like more drama enters her ex. (Don't worry both MC only see eachother no one else)

Slight ow/om drama (just an ex and a girl who doesn't listen) no cheating, tiny drama, slight secondary character, sexy times, both virgins and no manwhore

I am on a shifter kick. As I’ve said before, I think a shifter should only be with their mate. That box was checked here.

-no cheating
-om drama - she was on the run from a crazy ex and he makes an appearance
-ow drama- there is a woman who wants to be with him and is in his face a few times but he wants nothing to do with her. Honestly, it just seemed like drama for the sake of drama adding nothing to the actual storyline
-dual virgin which was great
-no violence of a sexual nature
-not much steam at all - one scene at around 93%
-NO EPILOGUE which was a major bummer for me An epilogue is a must for me

Fated mates, insta-attraction and a growly alpha wolf made this a read that had me smiling. Plus the heroine's mum was funny.

Overall this was an enjoyable little read. I can see myself picking this up again.

Liked this one

This second book in this series that I've read and it definitely is better than the first book. Each book in this series is penned by a different author. I liked that this one actually had a bit of story to it instead of the main characters meeting and then just have sex for the rest of the book. Granted, this book was short, but I liked it much better than the first.

Havoc

I liked this story by Lila Rose. She is one of my go to Author's.
I'm enjoying the Badlands series and everyone knows how much I love an Alpha and Havoc was Alpha to the core.

Oooh, I enjoyed this one a lot more than the first book in this series! It packed a good steam factor, had a sweet, sexy Hero & managed to tell a cute & complete story in a novella-length book.

Excited to discover more characters in the Badlands Territory!

Cora and her mom, Evelyn are on the run from a stalker. Cora dated Sean for a few weeks and things were going great until he starts exhibiting signs of being abusive. She breaks it off with him and he is not taking no for an answer, he had found her at every place she has gone. She is hoping moving to the Badlands which is off the beaten path will get him off her scent. While in town looking for a job she runs into a bitchy barista, a man, Alton steps into help. While waiting for her coffee they run into another man, Havoc he is the alpha for the Havoc pack, and smelling Cora knows he has found his mate. The bitchy barista tries to talk to Havoc but he only has eyes for Cora and he dismisses her. Sensing all of the tension and not wanting to be a part of the drama she leaves. Which causes Havoc’s wolf to lose it. Alton, Havoc’s beta decides it would be a good idea if Cora and her mom joined him, his wife Kathy and Havoc for drinks. Evelyn being a matchmaker says she isn’t feeling well and sends Cora alone. She is a bit nervous around Havoc, he brings feelings out in her she has never had for another man before. But with the trouble with Sean she wants to avoid men. She mentions she is looking for a job and Kathy says that Havoc’s company needs help and she can work as the admin for him. Cora tell her she will think about it. They are all talking when the bitchy barista shows up, then Cora hears the guys saying things like pack, alpha, and beta, she knows something is up and is ready to leave. When a pack member comes to the table and says there is a problem, Havoc irritated tells him to take care of it. The pack member says ok and shifts into wolf right in front of Cora.
Cora is used to supernatural things, in her family all the women pass down the gift of speaking to the dead to their daughters when they die. Her mother can speak to the dead and does. She will inherit the gift when her mother dies. But werewolves is too much. She leaves the bar and rushes home and tells her mon to start packing, all while throwing clothes into her own suitcase. Her mom tells her to calm down and listen to her. She has talked to the ghost of Havoc’s father and knows all about their ability to shift and she should give Havoc a chance. She goes over to his house the next day to take the job. While there she and Havoc share their first kiss and it is explosive, they are interrupted by his grandmother who has come to meet his mate.
Havoc hasn’t told her she is his mate for fear it will freak her out. But that causes her to worry that he is just playing with her until his mate shows up. Kathy explains that she is his mate. Cora gets a call from her mon to come home, leaving Kathy to man the phones she rushes home, there she finds Sean waiting for her. Thankfully Kathy mentions that she smelled how worried and scared Cora was when she left to go home and she didn’t check in like she said she would. Worried Havoc calls his beta and another pack member and go over to Cora’s house. They sneak in and get Sean, a fight ensues and Havoc kills Sean for terrorizing his mate. Cora did not know but Sean was a beaver shifter and that is how he was always able to find her, he sniffed her out. Once Cora is safe he doesn’t waste any more time mating her and telling her he loves her. Their mating is hot with dual virgins.

Too much prolonged tension

Would have liked this better if we could have seen the couple interact more. The alpha did not really get a chance to introduce her to his animal. We didn’t get much reading about the bond like we did with Jenika Snow’s book. The sex itself was ok...not particularly memorable.

Liked better than first

1. I'm the type who reads through reviews to get a feel for it a book will be a match for what my reading preferred mood is at the time.
These reviews left me uncertain with half sounding like it would suffice even if just for the fact that it was a shifter book in a multi-author series Is read every book in because I like these authors and mostly love more than half the novel when a bunch ( some familiar, some new to me) get together and put out a collective like this one.
2. What had me apprehensive was in a fan of most books by author of book 1 in this series, Jenika Snow, but although her book wasn't bad it wasn't the best either...( Taking into account my bias to automatically like shifter novel's, and that it was by an author I also usually looked forward to reading, it made the negative reviews of this book stand out more than perhaps they would have if I'd not been underwhelmed with book 1, coupled with this being an author who's work in not as well acquainted with, I let some comment color my idea about this book and may have skipped it if it weren't a part of the series..
I'M LEAVING THIS REVIEW FOR THE FACT THAT I'M SO GLAD I DECIDED TO READ IT DESPITE MY RESERVATIONS, I LIKED IT TWICE AS MUCH MORE THAN book 1, and considering I'm a fan of that author, it was an enjoyable book, this book was by an author unknown to me thus far, are all things that should show you that you can trust when I say, read this book, it was really good, and you'll be glad you read it.
***Possible Spoilers bellow as I mean to make some detail oriented comments about specifics that I'm pointing out as it relates to being a shifter genre can in general and how that goes into this this author did with the story that I was pleased she did...****
K, first I read that this author was new to writing in this subject matters wheelhouse (ie. Shifter books) IF THIS FACT IS TRUE , I hope some how this author reads reviews enough to be encouraged to please continue to write more shifter material... She really has a sense for how to make the story both satisfying to shifter fans like myself but also does not make mistakes I see way too often these days when new to genre.
Ex. ( Spoiler here) one review mention they were bothered by the fact the the story didn't mention a mating bite, something I usually would feel strongly about it left out as well;however the author was skilled in a way that instead of feeling it was a point in the negative column, it actually worked executing well for this story and the plot element that it brought up. Like its common place to see a shifter/human mating in these books, however what daily gets addressed (without it being annoying to read) if the fact that in a low drama shifter book where a human being part of a pairs mating isn't made into a plot long , like in whatever shifter world that is, a human mating is either frowned on, or causes problems in some other way ; in this book what I noticed and really enjoyed was the author did bring up the fact that the two were different, the H being shifter, h being human (mostly 😉), and both have concerns , but not in a way that is sensationalized like so many others use this to pull drama I to its story. Here she wrote it as a simple fact that didn't need to be dragged out of three into a main point of contention, but pleasant!y wrote it to seem pretty practical, which I'll admit was a nice change of pace to read that was. Like he didn't dislike that she was human ( which is usually where other books take the story of point is brought up), it was more that he was born around others who didn't need to approach how they went about interacting with their human mate differently, because those humans were already if privy to shifters and their behaviour, it made to story better actually to read that he kept having to remind himself that she didn't know things about his life style, and would fumble by doing something then noticing her reaction after, but quickly learned how to better his own nature and ease her into understand the shifter workd. It was cool reading a story line that addressed this but didn't make it the main problem of their relationship, rather, he fumbles, having just asked other human shifter pairs what to expect ( to which he's told ease her into it, because he's she will feel the bond and connection will be strong for her as well, but in like with him, it will confuse her and scare her a little at first because she won't understand why she's feeling so strongly without the knowledge that it's part of something that's special and great that comes with the whole package deal of having a true mate; so until then he should better navigate sensing her moods when they change suddenly... Something which he does well with for about half an hour... (Enjoyed reading that explained so well and what followed was great too cAuse it set up just how DUH absent minded dudes are, wolf shifter or mere mortal alike they share this same male trait) funny...

No strong representations of diverse characters or minority identities.

Overall: 3.25/5 stars

I appreciated how there was actually a story in Havoc's Mate. I also liked the drama of the Heroine having to come to terms with shapeshifters being a thing.

This was decent until I got to the two-week time jump where it completely skips over the MCs getting to know each other. Other things that bothered me:
-the mother and the convenient new friend of the heroine interfering
-this side character is suddenly best friends with the heroine and is obviously only there to give information to the heroine and the reader; I get that characters can be used as tools, but that sudden closeness never works well with side characters
-this fucking side character is the one to tell the heroine that she's mates with the Hero; that's a very important moment that should stay between the mates, not through a third party

I stopped reading after the stalker randomly shows up because I was just so irritated with how things were unfolding. It was especially frustrating because this started out as an intriguing story with a heroine who has a mom that loves pot and talks to her dead husband in a humorous way, then there was the slight promise of drama with another pack member...but after the heroine gets steamrolled by her mom into seeing the Hero again by agreeing to something for her, everything snowballed into crap.

It was decent enough, very story heavy compared to the first one which was far more romance based and i didnt feel as in love with the characters idk they didnt seem to have much connection or romance building stuff the main thing i didnt like was the lack of epilogue, for me such books need epilogues especially when its more instalove romance because then you get to see how theyve settled into their life and also any baby or wedding related news moving in that sort of thing. So it wasnt as satisfying an end as it couldve been i mean i figured at the very least her mother would have havocs father talk to his son through her for some closure or idk something deeper than weird jokey everybodys in giggles happy family no real merit stuff. So yeah emotional element was lacking as was the romance. Overall it was fine though.

First things first; I really like the cover of this book!
Havoc’s mate is the second book in the ‘’bad lands territory’’ series. This story is short, fast paced and an enjoyable read. I read this book in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters likeable and the storyline enjoyable. On the run from her crazy ex, Cora has just moved to badlands. Havoc is the alpha wolf shifter. When he meets Cora, he knows she is his mate but will she give him a chance?
The chemistry between Havoc/Jackson and Cora is clear to see and I liked them together.
I really disliked Brea. I wanted to shout at her to bog off.
I really liked Cora’s bond with her mother.
I really liked the ending and the epilogue for this story.
The storyline for this book is easy to follow and it is an enjoyable read.

It was hard to really like the relationship, it felt forced and tbh the romance kinda just sucked? Like i felt no connection with the relationship and i hated that time skip. Felt like the author didn’t really know how to write a romance and copped there way out with a time skip? the ending kinda sucked too, they slept together for the first time and that’s it, it wasn’t even steamy. We did they even like about each other? They probably spoke 3 sentences together. and i hate books where they get together literally on the last chapter. this book was kind a waste of time and potent and felt just boring, disappointing because of all the high reviews on it, it’s honestly just as a good as a 2 star book. which why i’m giving it that.

4.5 Stars for Havoc✨

This is my first book by Lila Rose and I have to say I really enjoyed the way in which her characters are portrayed and their chemistry. I also enjoyed the more paranormal aspects of Cora’s mom and Havoc’s grandmother was a hoot😂I felt a kinship with all of them and found myself intrigued by the idea of living in the Badlands myself😜

Cora moves with her mom after someone she was getting to know, turned out to be ‘psycho’. Suffice to say they feel at home almost straight away. When Cora makes a stop at the local coffee house she runs into Alton and Havoc. Unbeknownst to her, she is Havoc’s mate but she’s also unaware that shifters exist😳

Loved it!

Can you ever go wrong with a Lila Rose novel? No! And this one was no different.

Jackson (Havoc) stumbled across his mate Cora and never looked back. Sure he exhibited some “Alpha behavior”, but once he dealt with the threat to her safety, claiming her was more than worth a reward.

The best part of the story was Coras mom, who incidentally talks to her dead husband and can see ghosts. How can you not love a woman who can see ghosts and make cookies, cakes, and brownies filled with pot. Ahh, good times.

New adventures

Very different for what she usually writes butVery interesting as well.I'm not gonna say I absolutely loved it,. honestly some of it justMoved a little too fast for me. I've got to give credit to Lila rose she branched out from Brighting about the hawks him C.To thisAnd it's a whole another adventureThat I hope really does work for her. I can't wait to see what she comes up with next.

(If there are weird words, misspelling or anything strange in this review, please forgive me I'm still adjusting to recently losing my vision and used a dictation app)

Cora Smith has had to move with her ghost speaking mom several times due to an ex who wont give her up. Cora is hoping her new home in Badlands will give her the solace she is desperately looking for. She doesn't plan on getting entangled with another man but she had not planned on Alpha Jackson Havoc. Can Cora accept Havoc once she realizes he is a shifter or will she make a run for it?

What a different type of shifter book. Thoroughly enjoyed and I thought Cora's mom was a hoot. Great quick read if you are looking for a alpha shifter book.

Havoc's mate...

...was a pleasant surprise!

I'll start by saying, I'm an avid reader, seriously hundreds and hundreds but I've only ever read one other shifter book and was surprised that I really enjoyed it! However I left it at that one, until I was reading Lila's latest book (Coyote - excellent!) and this came up an I thought, sure why not!...well I'm glad I took the chance!
Havoc is the Alpha shifter, Cora doesn't even know shifters exist! How do you explain to your mate, to someone your destined to spend your entire life with, that your a werewolf....

Good read.

I liked this store

I really enjoyed this Shifter story. Well written with believable sequences. Uselly these stories move so fast with very little transition time for the "mate" especially the human ones. I like that thus author took added the transition time for the h and her feelings were very realistic. The only gap for me was having just one sexy time. There was a little of build up that led to their mating but thats it. I needed more of moments between the H&h but still a good story, would definitely read an expended version

Great Story

Havoc and Cora have a great storyline and there is enough tension/plot to keep you interested. Lila Rose captures shifters as relateable to real world (growly alpha males). This story kept me engaged and wanting to know what would happen with Cora's ex. I love that Cora's family has some quirks too that help Cora believe in shifters. I will continue to readthe series.

First book i read from this author and I liked the story.

Havoc was the alpha and it seems he had a bit of a temperament, stressed i should say which come from managing 500 shifters under him and their business, and Cora was his balm, the thing that calms him.

I liked the side characters, they lightened the somewhat intense atmosphere between Cora and Jackson. And there was a bit of action which turned out messy, all to save his Cora.

Jackson and Cora

What a delightful novel! Jackson and Cora are just wonderful together. This novel is the second in the series Badland Territory books. This is a standalone novel but still in Badland Territory. Great plot and dialogue. Love the older generation in the novel which just adds more to the story!

The story was good. There was not much action or drama. Story is more for relaxed read, when you just wanna to shut your brain off.
It may seems silly ar small, but I like when, h reacts a certain way to news about prn, especially when she or her family has some special abilities. Like I said, it may seem small, but it does stays with me and I just can't shake the feeling.

Great Read

I enjoyed reading Havoc's Mate. Cora running from a bad situation, never thought the Badlands Territory would be great decision to start her life over in until she met Havoc. Havoc thought he would never find his mate but one day that all changed. I definitely recommend this book.

Shifter story

I haven't read any of this genre lately but Lila Rose is a go to author for me. I liked it. This is Coras story. She's moving around with her mother, who's an interesting character in her own rofht. They move to Bafkands territory and there she meets Havoc (Jackson).
An enjoyable read

Liked this book a lot!

This book, even though it was short, had a really good storyline! The writing was great, and I loved reading about Cora and Havoc. They were totally made for each other. This is one of these times where I wish the book was longer, but also I think it was great just the way it is!
