Breaking Belles #5

Delicate Revenge

Rate this book
Bellamy Carmichael was Darlington’s princess all through high school. Perfect, popular, too gorgeous for words—and unfortunately, she knew it.

I’d had a crush on her ever since arriving at Darlington Prep, only she never looked my way except for an occasional cruel put down. I was a scrawny kid, nerdy, and worst of all, my family was new money.

But now, a decade later, the tables have turned. I’m the one the Elders of the Secret Society are courting. During my Initiation, I’ll be given more leeway than any other before me. After all, my family measures their wealth in hundreds of billions.

And Bellamy Carmichael has somehow found herself as a Belle of the Midnight Ball. Oh, how the mighty have fallen. Unlike my brothers, I’m going to enjoy my initiation and breaking my belle.

About the author

Stasia Black

62 books1,828 followers
Stasia was born in Georgia, grew up in Texas, recently spent a freezing five-year stint in Minnesota, and now is happily planted in sunny California, which she will never, ever leave.

She loves writing, reading, listening to podcasts, and has recently taken up biking after a twenty-year sabbatical (and has the bumps and bruises to prove it). She lives with her own personal cheerleader, aka, her handsome husband, and their teenage son. Wow. Typing that makes her feel old. And writing about herself in the third person makes her feel a little like a nutjob, but ahem! Where were we?

Stasia’s drawn to romantic stories that don’t take the easy way out. She wants to see beneath people’s veneer and poke into their dark places, their twisted motives, and their deepest desires. Basically, she wants to create characters that make readers alternately laugh, cry ugly tears, want to toss their kindles across the room, and then declare they have a new FBB (forever book boyfriend).

STORY:
I’ve never really connected with the authors writing style in the past, and it’s more a me thing, however, I chose to read this story because the blurb caught my interest and I found myself liking this story and becoming involved with Bellamy and Emmett.

The story felt like a quickie and because I have read one book in the series prior, I was not lost in understanding the process of the Secret Society and what Emmett and Bellamy had to go through. I always find myself attracted to stories of high school crushes that years later develops into more. In the case of Emmett and Bellamy, it’s a reversal of fortune. The popular rich girl and the nerdy head in book boy, who is now filthy rich and the girl is now broke. I like reading their progress and they kept me entertained.

With that being, I wouldn’t say the characters came out fully developed or I saw much of a change. Sometimes while reading I have to remind myself they weren’t teenagers, because sometimes I got that vibe a bit.

SEXUAL CHEMISTRY:
Sex scenes flowed running water until my cup was full. There were constant sex scenes, no complaints here and there were scenes with voyeurs and or onlookers. Dom/sub was Dom/sub adjacent nothing hardcore, it’s more Emmett taking and being in control.

SECONDARY CHARACTERS:
The secondary characters were characters who had their stories told before as this is book 5. The authors gave a glimpse in Walker’s upcoming story.

OVERALL:
I liked the story. It was fast paced with continuous sex scenes. It still came with a few buts for me but still walked away from it ok.

TRIGGERS:

****I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read. I based my book reviews on my preferences and what I like, and while these preferences may not be the same for others, I hope this review was still helpful.

I felt a little lost....

This is the fifth or sixth book in the series yet it was labelled as being able to be read as a stand-alone. But because I hadn't read any of the previous books, I didn't know what The Initiation, the Oleander, or the silver society was. I didn't know the friend's background with the H, Emmett, or his either, so I felt a little lost. Maybe that's the reason why I couldn't really connect with the characters. I don't know why I just didn't really care for either of them.

I mean, oh boo hoo, Bellamy's dad died and left them with no money. So instead of her and her mother moving into something affordable and getting jobs, it's much better to subject yourself to humiliation, old rich fogeys fondling you and watching you get dominated and screwed by the nerd you bullied in high school. I mean being a gold digger is much better than downsizing or making something of yourself. Ugh!!

I don't know, I just didn't think it was sexy for Bellamy to have to prance around naked, having to perform all sorts of sex acts around all these strange old men that were friends of her father's. They were jerking off on her, and fondled her during sex with Emmett, it was just cringy for me. Others may think it was sexy and hot but I didn't. Also it was like 90% sex. I can't believe I'm saying this but it was a little too much.

Even though this is an ARC review, I will always shoot you straight. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Bellamy and Emmetts story was off the charts hot and so incredibly passionate.
This couple has a past from high school but Emmett can’t figure out why Bellamy is a belle, especially since her blood is bluer than his. But she has secrets that will be revealed at the most worse stage of the trials. Her embarrassment and pride take a direct hit. While this couple survive the trials and and come out unscathed at the end? Grab this book and find out.
This whole series has been unbelievably sensational, each story unique and jaw dropping.

Sweet revenge or not

Emmett and Bellamy go back to high school, the old money blue bloods against the new money, he doesn't fit in with the privileged high society stuck up people, as adults Emmett doesn't have anything to prove except to the elders of the secret society that new money is just as good as theirs, he does have more than any of them, enter Bellamy as a belle with a secret, they come to terms with the arrangement and start to become friends, the trials are difficult, when her secret is revealed will he be able to forgive her, accept her, love her as he's loved her since high school, the saga continues, I have voluntarily read and review this ARC, thank you for the privilege, Dana Zamora

Bellamy and Emmett have so much passion and chemistry between them. This is the fifth addition in the Breaking Belles series of dark romances and can be read as a standalone. The story is riveting, dark and twisted.

Just couldn’t like this and the ending was so ambiguous it wasn’t an ending. We didn’t get her POV on why and there was no resolution, making it more unlikeable. Emmett wanted to call her a spoiled brat, but he was a petty hold a grudge you should get over yourself guy. He whined more then she did! Both main characters were hard to like. Yeah there is D/s in it and some kinky stuff the last trial was surprising because it was a change of his mindset. Again the ending with no explanation on her part just put a nail in the coffin.

Received a copy from BookSprout for an honest review.

And Bellamy Carmichael has somehow found herself a Belle of the Midnight Ball. Oh, how the mighty have fallen. Unlike my brothers, I'm going to enjoy my initiation and breaking my belle.

I have to say that I am loving this series so very much and this book is just pure fire and passion. If you have not started this series yet, then I have to tell you that you are missing out on some amazing book. I devoured each and every one of them and you need to read them in order because you will see these characters in other books and I think it just makes you get more out of the series to know who they are and what they have been through with the Society or as a Belle's. There are four book before Delicate Revenge. Elegant Sins, Beautiful Lies, Opulent Obsession and Inherited Malice. Each is a complete story and about a different one of the male friends and their Belle.
This one is the story of Emmett and Bellamy. These two have known each other for forever and went to school at Darlington Prep. She was the rich beautiful girl that was untouchable and he was a scrawny nerdy little thing that she quiet frankly liked to bully at times. She was from old money and his family was from new money. But not a decade later he is getting ready to do his initiation and his will be a little different because his new money family is now counting their money in the billions! However you can imagine his surprise when he sees Bellamy as a Belle of the Midnight Ball. Right out of the gate Emmett is a big fat butt to her and she really wasn't much better than him but under all that there was some serious fire and chemistry. After all he's got a hundred and nine days to break his Belle and walk away. I can't say anything else about this book or I might give something away. But I did love reading all five books right in a row and I am so invested in this world and was so excited for each and every book. I could read a million more books in this series and never get tired of it.

This sixth tale in the Breaking Belles series is Emmett Washington’s story. Although one of the group of friends who are all, one by one to be initiated into the Order of the Silver Ghost, an exclusive gentleman’s club which is run out of Oleander Manor in Darlington County. Emmett’s pedigree is rather different from the others in the group. Emmett, although fabulously rich beyond dreams, is not a blue blood, or old money. His father made his fortune in renewable energy and and electric vehicles etc and financially he is a league way above anything most of the Elders of The Oleander can aspire to. Consequently his father is guaranteed membership and Emmett guaranteed an intimation. Emmett has always felt that although his friends accept him, he never quite belonged and needed to prove something to earn his place among the great and the good of Darlington County. Bellamy Charmichael on the other hand is everything that Emmett has always wanted to be. Stunningly beautiful and definitely blue blooded old money she is perfect in every way the consummate Southern Belle trained from birth to look, act and expect nothing but perfection. Emmett has known and watched her since high school, so on the night of the beginning of his initiation, what is she doing lined up with the other belles? And so, the initiation trials begin. Emmett has become a powerful Dom and Bellamy is not submissive, or is she? This one is a particularly hot story, the chemistry between the two protagonists is absolutely tangible and I found myself becoming very invested in their successful completion of the trials. However, things are not cut and dried and smoke and mirrors cannot always conceal all. Sometimes the truth can come back and bite you. This has proved to be a terrific series which I know has only one tale left to tell which is a shame because these have all been consistently great reads. Rock on Walker St Claire.

one of the better ones……

I’ve been addicted to this series since the first installment, that’s not to say they have been 5-star reads or anything I wanted to re-read BUT as the series unfolds I cannot help but to be sucked in. I’m not entirely on board with every single freaking initiate having the same predictable type love story however I have to admit Emmett & Bellamy’s was one of the better ones for sure.

I liked the idea that his Belle was from his world, one that should’ve never been there but was nonetheless. It made it a little more fun, especially given their history and Emmett’s “preferences”. He is definitely one of the hotter male leads, this couple set some fires within these pages.

This isn’t going to be some emotionally impactful or deep read, if you accept that going in it will be enjoyable. I personally might even go as far as saying this was the most enjoyable for me. The ending was a little blah, but otherwise I found myself more hooked to this one than I can recount any of the previous before it.

I enjoyed this book. I love this whole series and have enjoyed each book. I did feel that this book did not have as much drama and danger as some of the other ones though. Emmett was definitely the most dominate mail in this series so far and I was excited at the beginning of the story because of that but I felt that the trials were not as exciting as the story of the trials in the previous books. This however did not make me unlike the story at all, I was just anticipating more drama and excitement about what the couple would do during their time at the Oleander. Emmett and Bellamy were both characters that I really liked and am happy for the ending that they received. I can't wait to read the next story about Walker because the last pages of this book make me extremely curious about what happened.

Delicate Revenge is the fifth story in the Breaking Belles series, and I have to admit this is not one of my favorites. Granted, the sex scenes were terrific, and Emmett is spot on, but the chemistry between Emmett and Bellamy was missing something, and the story was not there. It wasn't until the last couple of chapters that I felt something for either of them. Emmett played the Dom well, and that was about it.

I hope that the last book brings us back to what we loved about these stories.

3.5- 4 stars

I have liked this series. For the most part, this author duo has kept it pretty fresh and exciting. Some parts are exceptional and others were just okay.

This book felt different than the rest. It seemed more like the focus was on the BDSM aspect of the story rather than the secret society. Some scenes just felt like they were a scare tactic with no intention of follow through.

I'm looking forward to Walker's book since it is the final in the series.

Emmett and Bellamy get their turn in this story. While the steam is on point and we get some D/S at times with Emmett finally taking control, I had a hard time connecting with them otherwise. I understand he has issues from when they were younger but it felt as though they didn't grow from that and the ending left me reeling a bit.

A Great Addition To The Series! Emmett & Bellamy’s Dark Romance Is Full Of Angsty Tension. Two Former Classmates & Perfectionists Team Up To Put On A Great Show For The Elders In Their Effort To Ace The Trials, But They Will Need To Take A Risk On Love If They Want To Complete The Initiation. It Is About Secrets & Insecurities, About Fake Smiles & Finding Forgiveness.

ABOUT THE SERIES:

This book is the fifth in what appears to be a six-part series. A number of characters are introduced in the first book and the set-up is complex, so I have summarized it here to serve as a quick reference.

The series includes:
1. Elegant Sins (Montgomery & Grace)
2. Beautiful Lies (Sully & Portia)
3. Opulent Obsession (Rafe & Fallon; Rafe’s story overlaps with Beau’s)
4. Inherited Malice (Beau and Consuela/Abilene; Beau’s story overlaps with Rafe’s)
5. Delicate Revenge (Emmett & Bellamy’s story)
6. Lavish Corruption (Walker’s story – with Sarah?)

Darlington County, Georgia is home to the state’s most affluent men and steeped in Southern charm and tradition. The historic Oleander Manor is home to tradition that goes back generations. It is owned by the Order of the Silver Ghost, a society of powerful and influential men. They don’t frown upon inviting new money to join, though their ranks are filled with old. These men represent sin, lies, and obsession. The atmosphere at the manor drips with malice, revenge, and corruption. They are blue-blood, and they pass their dark lifestyle on from one generation to the next. They operate under a law book, and ten Elders lead them through their various ceremonies and rituals.

As the story opens in book one, six recruits into the Order of the Silver Ghost are gathered at the manor. All are graduates of Darlington Preparatory Academy seven years ago. All work for their fathers. All turn twenty-five this year – the year that they become eligible to become members of the Order. Once they earn membership and the key passing ceremony takes place, the laws dictate that they take the reins of their family empires. All are committed to doing whatever it takes to maintain their wealth and continue the blue-blood legacy. Growing up, they had been permitted to participate in certain of the trials and events as spectators, so they have some ideas as to what to expect. They are all nervous, wondering if the trials will change them forever. It begins with a Ghost Ball, where a belle is chosen by the recruit and approved by the Order. In the following 109 days, the recruit is hunkered in at Oleander with his belle. During that time, the Order works to break her.

Montgomery Kingston is the guest of honor for the evening in book one. It is his Trial of Initiation. He is the first of the group’s graduating class to turn twenty-five and go through the trials. He is a pretty boy and loves his mama. He was captain of the football team, top of his class, and has worked tirelessly to grow the family business. He is listed in Forbes as one of the wealthiest men under the age of thirty. His father is one of the Elders of the Order. As such, Montgomery is expected to help run the Order one day.

Sully VanDoren is next to go through the trials. His Trial of Initiation is in book two. He doesn’t buy into the tradition. He hates anything to do with high society and Southern charm, so it isn’t surprising that he left Darlington years ago. Pessimistic and unhappy to be forced to participate, he reluctantly goes along because he will do what it takes to get the keys to his father’s kingdom.

Rafe Jackson’s Trial of Initiation takes place in book three. He doesn’t want to waste his time with the trials. He works the hardest of the group because his wealth is newer and not well-established. Keeping among the ranks of the wealthy is a daily struggle. He is stubborn and the most driven of the group. He will stop at nothing to be amongst his peers and in the Order. He did not grow up in the halls of the Oleander like his friends had. His family is new to the Order. Though this is how Rafe is originally described, it does not perfectly reflect his character as it unfolds in his book, Opulent Obsession.

Beau Radcliffe is the fourth recruit. Not much is known about him prior to his story in book four, though he does make some appearances in book three and is probably more cold and detached than his friends. Beau was raised by his father and spent much of his youth in the halls of the Oleander, having lost his mother to cancer when he was young. He works for his father in the jewel business and has already begun taking over, and is excited to finally have the chance to become a member of the Order himself. He doesn’t let on to that, though, because emotions make a man weak. He likes to play things cool and close to the vest. His entire life is carefully controlled diligently planned out.

Emmett Washington is a busy man, and attending Order gatherings is a waste of his precious time. He is similar to Rafe. He considers the trials to be a sick tradition. He is from new money and works hard to keep and increase that money. His father joined the Order over a decade ago. Though this is how Emmett is originally described, it does not perfectly reflect his character as it unfolds in his book, Delicate Revenge.

Walker St. Claire is much like Montgomery. He was born and raised to be a Southern gentleman. Both men have swagger. Walker’s father is one of the Elders of the Order, and he plays a small role in books three, four, and five. Like Montgomery, Walker is expected to help run the Order one day.

A few issues merit mention. Although no overarching scheme is shared, it appears there could possibly be an end goal relating to the Order. Book two confirms that Montgomery has plans, but hopes to eventually make change from the inside with the help of his friends. Additionally, the initiation lasts 109 days, the length of which is explained in book two. 109 represents the Oleander’s street address. Since the men involved work for their fathers, and the women are dirt poor and desperate, the timeline conceivably works. But the majority of the time is spent in between events, which appear to be held mostly on the weekends. There doesn’t seem to be any reason for the couple to remain during the week. A two-week intensive initiation, for example, might make more sense. Moreover, if the Order indeed sees the belles as non-marriageable, then it does not make sense for the men to spend so much time alone with a woman they are not expected to ever respect or love. So much time together, alone, breaks down barriers and encourages attachment. That said, in this book (Delicate Revenge), it is explained that part of the test is psychological, and withstanding the boredom and monotony of those 109 days is thus part of the initiation. Next, the open request given to the belles feels odd – certainly there should be some limits set. Finally, unless the recruits have overlapping initiations, it is not possible for them all to be initiated on their twenty-fifth birthdays. Since these six men were classmates, it would make sense that their birthdays all fall within the same year following the cutoff date for kindergarten registration in Georgia, which has long been September first. The overlap begins with books three and four. Five and six are set to overlap as well, but as it is laid out in book five, they do not. Both Emmett’s and Walker’s dates don’t line up within the year that they were all to have turned twenty-five. Emmett began school in California, and it looks like the cut-off date might have been December 1 at the time, so his timeline still works. Walker is born and raised in Georgia, so his date doesn’t appear to make sense if he was meant to be in the same grade as his friends. Dates of the Trials of Initiation thus far include:

Montgomery Kingston: Saturday, September 16 – January 2.
Sullivan VanDoren: Saturday, January 18 – May 6.
Rafe Jackson: Saturday, May 10 – August 26 (but he leaves a little early).
Beau Radcliffe. Saturday, July 5 – October 21.
Emmett Washington: Saturday, October 23 – February 8.

IN THIS BOOK:

Emmett Washington, presumably twenty-five, likes his kink. He also wants to prove himself to the Elders of the Order. He is thrilled to finally get his turn to go through the Trials of Initiation and become a member, cementing his place amongst them. Emmett comes from new money, and he transferred to Darlington in middle school, making him an outsider. His father moved the family from California when he opened a factory in Atlanta, and the family’s wealth has skyrocketed since. His father made his money in solar energy, then moved on into other technologies, including a contract with NASA.

Emmett is a billionaire. He has no need for membership in the order. He has social standing and a career, but he wants to belong. He has always battled the feeling that he wasn’t quite accepted. He was a math and science nerd, not a football player like his friends. Though they eventually become true friends, Emmett had learned how to pretend that he fit in, how to wear a fake smile. It is a talent he still sometimes uses. The feeling that he isn’t good enough left a deep imprint on him, despite his incredible wealth. It has made him into a perfectionist. He still sometimes worries about what people think of him; he cannot help himself. So he plans to give the Elders a show – to be the perfect candidate with the perfect belle – to prove his worth.

His father had bought his way into the Order, but that doesn’t guarantee Emmett’s membership. He knows they will challenge him, but he is never one to give up, and he is excited to show them that he won’t be intimidated by their legendary Trials. He just needs to pick a strong belle to partner with and all will be good.

Bellamy Carmichael, presumably twenty-five, has a secret. Her life took a nosedive ever since her senior year of high school. That is when her father died, leaving behind a mess for her and her mother to dig themselves out of. After living a life of privilege as a Southern belle, she was ashamed to admit to her fall from grace. Keeping her secret had been difficult, but her years of cotillion and beauty pageants armed her with the skills she needed. Her mother has her hopes set on Bellamy saving them both, and marrying into a member of the Order will restore not just their financial security, but also their social standing. Bellamy’s father had been a member, and her mother seemed fixated on keeping the family connected. But as the recent Initiates have fallen for their penniless belles, her mother’s hopes of Bellamy settling with one of her former Darlington classmates have dwindled. Bellamy was thus encouraged to lower herself to the status of a belle. She hadn’t been blind to Emmett’s stolen glances, so she is confident that he will choose her. She knows how much is riding on her success, and she is determined to win no matter how demeaning the Trials become. She might even have a little rebellious spirit hidden inside, waiting for a chance to get out.

When Emmett sees Bellamy standing amongst the belles, he can hardly believe his eyes. Her presence doesn't make sense. Still, his choice is immediately clear. He had been infatuated with her in high school, though she never returned his interest. She had always dated older guys so he never stood a chance with her. But here he is in charge, and as his belle, she must please him. It presents the perfect opportunity for delicate revenge, for the chance he never got with her. But passing the Trials is an arduous task. It is emotionally arduous and psychologically taxing. Emmett intends to dominate his belle and to become her Master, but with their shared history, things become rather complicated quickly and he soon questions his choice. Emmett and Bellamy face a few hurdles as they settle into their new reality, but secrets threaten to destroy their delicate peace at any moment. The couple eventually finds a happy ending.

Emmett and Bellamy’s steamy story is a great addition to the series. The couple has a slight history together, but mostly they know one another from a distance. Both have their problems. Emmett has always worked hard to prove himself worthy in whatever he undertakes. He is an overachiever and a perfectionist, and he plans to knock the socks off of the Elders with his performances at the Trials. He needs Bellamy’s cooperation for that, though. He is into kink – more so than any of his friends – so the Trials are right up his ally. They are a chance to show off, and training Bellamy is critical to his success. Emmett also has a complex when it comes to dating and women. Thanks to his fortune and family name, he is routinely targeted by gold-diggers. It disgusts him. He wants real love, like his parents have, who were married before his father became wealthy. Emmett worries that women only like him for his money.

Bellamy has been groomed her entire life. The pageants and lessons went hand in hand with her status as a true Southern belle. She was always expected to marry well – to marry someone her equal or better – and she has always been good at taking instructions. She is talented at putting on an act, but she also has great inner strength, which is required to keep up the charade. Yet underneath it all, she has her own set of insecurities. With such high expectations, she hardly knows how to just relax. She was raised to think she had to be perfect at all times. The flaws and imperfections are something to be ashamed of, something she must hide. She wears her makeup, well-groomed hair, and clothes like a mask, sheltering behind them and hiding her true self. She had a big awakening when her father died. She learned a lot of lessons and saw how shallow she had once been, but she needed to keep up the act. Once she gets chosen at Emmett’s belle, though, it becomes clear that her secret will eventually get out.

A few issues merit mention. First Emmett’s parents are happily married and he looks up to their relationship. But the fact remains that his father had very much wanted to become part of the Order, which doesn’t much value the sanctity of marriage. It is implied that his father skipped over the requirement of completing the Trials (he was married at the time), so there is that. Still, his father attends the depraved events, and attendance alone allows for people to talk and come to their own conclusions about his participation. It is hence disrespectful of his wife and his marriage. That leads to Montgomery, Rafe, and Beau. It does still imply that there is a plan in the works, but there is never any mention of their belles and what their attendance says about their relationships. It is left rather vague, but that can leave people to jump to conclusions. It would be nice if their feelings and opinions, and those of their former belles, were spelled out. With one book to go, hopefully that is all resolved. Next, in the epilogue from book four, it is said that Bellamy won’t be entering in search of a husband, but that turns out not to be the case here. Finally, I was sad that Sully was missing where he might have been present. I hope to see him present in the last book.

Emmett and Bellamy’s dark romance is full of angsty tension as the series nears its end. It is about secrets and insecurities, about fake smiles and finding forgiveness. Two former classmates and perfectionists team up to put on a great show for the Elders in their effort to ace the Trials, but they will need to take a risk on love if want to complete the Initiation. The story has dangerous games and BDSM elements. It is nicely written and plot-driven. It is complex. The characters are carefully crafted and realistic. Thrown together in a sequence of sick ceremonies and activities, Emmett and Bellamy try to survive without breaking. Fans will be happy that new Order members Montgomery Kingston, Rafe Jackson, and Beau Radcliffe have small roles in this book. The story is written in first person. The POV alternates between Emmett and Bellamy; the epilogue is in Walker St. Claire’s POV. I rate this book four stars.

Emmett and Bellamy's story goes way back to high school when he was just a genius nerd and she was the stuck up town princess. He wanted her so badly but she'd have nothing to do with him. Emmett thought , no matter how wealthy his family was, his kind didn't fit in with the old money snobs of the town...but someday he'd make them accept him whether they wanted to or not. Now all grown up, Emmett is far wealthier and more successful than any of the so-called blue bloods and he will prove to the elders of the secret society he not only deserves to be part of the organization but that he can dominate it like no other. When Bellamy shows up in the line of available belles from which Emmett much choose, he sees his plan of revenge hit new heights. But Bellamy is a belle with a deep, dark secret she's keep safe for years. As they paths intertwine, they must come together to reach a common in order to achieve their individual goals. The trials are twisted and tortuous but that's nothing compared to the price they'll pay once hearts get involved. When secrets are revealed, will betrayal win out or will forgiveness prevail. There's some pretty dark play and oh so hot moments in this book. Make sure a fan is near by and a cold beverage! Pant! Pant! Bellamy and Emmett's story takes you on a fast track ride. I love the fact the belle in this story is of the right side of the track and really out of her element. I could not put this down once I started and it is a good continuation of the Breaking belles series. Stasia and Alta know well how to keep the readers interest and have them frothing at the mouth for more!

Holy hell! Right out of the gate Emmett came gunning for his belle, Bellamy and what an A-hole he was. The premise of this series is Secret Society and the Initiation Trials that each of the sons must go through for 109 days with a belle of their choosing. These two have history and he has an axe to grind with her and oh yes the hate was so good at the start.

Five books in and this is the couple to beat! Their sexual chemistry is the best in the series and the sex scenes were definitely the best too, with some elements of BDSM. Emmett's kink and prowess knock his predecessors way off the map in the Big O dept. I gotta say he's a top contender for the Best Fck of the Year award.

Unlike the previous belles, Bellamy is a true southern belle from Georgia who has fallen on hard times and thus why she put herself in the Trials. But I do wish she were a stronger character. The previous belles had a depth of character and backbone that she lacked, but knowing her upbringing I understood why she was written that way, however it still doesn't change the fact that she was the weakest belle.

Despite that this story was on fire. The whole series is debauchery, depravity and immorality at its finest and it's addictive as all hell. But beware if you are a sensitive reader. You don't need to read the whole series in order, but the first book sets up the premise of the series really well.

However, I've got some questions and issues with this series that I hope get answered by the last book to address certain aspects of this Secret Society and also to round up the cast of characters for their final bow. Although the previous stories have had a predictable HEA for each of the son's and their belle so far, there is only one son left to go and there's hints of it going awry - just the twist the series needs. I am ready for it!

4.5

3.5 stars rating as 4🌟🌟🌟🌟! Emmett and Bellamy!

Delicate Revenge is the 5th installment in the Breaking Belles Series featuring Emmett Washington, an Initiator at the Oleander Manor not by blood or as a member of a traditional family, but by the wealth able to buy his way in, and Bellamy Carmichael, the bluest blooded belle (something very out of the usual) in Darlington, Emmett's high school crush, the unattainable princess to his new money huge fortune.
Contrary to his other friends that were initiated, Emmett is eagerly excited for the trials and more so now that he chose Bellamy to be his belle and has somewhat a score to set. Bellamy is not pleased to find herself as a belle, but she has her own agenda and this has absolutely to be done.
This is kind of an enemy-to-lovers story about power, blood and tradition, the way of the Silver Ghost Order, but mostly it's Emmett's opportunity to show and impose the fact that money is, in reality, all that counts and he's pleased get his point across. For that, he'll give them the show of their lives, no fear, no hold backs, total control.
Dominance, submission, crazy banter, bratiness, punishments, rewards are the route to fall in love is this 5th narrative of the BB series as well as secrets, defiance, the proverbial entanglement and the final conquest. Bellamy and Emmett were a nice couple, but I found their exchanges a tad immature at times and I was hopping for a less ambigous ending.
Neverthelles, it was a good addiction to the series.

Delicate Revenge was a truly unique and rather intriguing read. This was my first book by either author and I definitely intend to dive into their backlist as soon as I can.
This dark, secret society romance was completely different from anything I’ve read before and I can’t wait to read the previous books. Ten years ago, both Emmett Washington and Bellamy Carmichael attended Darlington Prep. He was the skinny new kid whose nose stayed in a book while she was Darlington's princess. She was his crush and she barely noticed him except for the occasional bully taunt. She came from old money while he was new money. Now, years later, their roles seem to have reversed. He’s a billionaire and is being courted by the Elders of the Oleander to be initiated into the Order of the Silver Ghost secret society. On the night of the Belles of the Midnight Ball, he comes face to face with her again. Now she’s broke and together they will face the trials. He’s going to have fun breaking his Belle.
When these two meet again, their behavior towards each other is incredibly juvenile. They also have intense chemistry in spades. It explodes into several, OK many, passionate scenes. Scenes in which Emmett has become an experienced Dom and were so HOT! My smut loving heart was made incredibly happy. An air of mystery surrounds them as they move through their story, with Bellamy having many secrets that could cost her in the end. I enjoyed their story but there were certain elements I found difficult to connect with. Overall, it is an enjoyable read and I recommend it to all readers who love dark romance. This is my honest opinion, freely given.

Delicate Revenge: A Dark Secret Society Romance and is the fifth book in Breaking Belles Series.

Emmett Washington isn’t the usual blue blood that is being initiated into The Order Of The Silver Ghost. Bellamy Carmichael is the woman that he has chosen to be his “belle”. She isn’t like the usual girls that are from the “wrong side of the tracks”. Bellamy comes from money but she has a huge secret.

This is a dark story along with the other books and I am positive it will have triggers for some, so beware.

The Society is full of old kinky men and their sons are being initiated into The Society. This isn't about the kinky side of these men. The challenges that these initiates and their belles can be dangerous as well as kinky. But if the initiate and their belle stays in until the end of 109 days, The initiate becomes a member of The Society and their belle gets a boat load of money or whatever they wish for.

This is the order and who’s story is told in each of the books:

Elegant Sins, book 1 - Montgomery Kingston and Grace Magnolia Morgan

Beautiful Lies, book 2 - Sullivan “Sully” Vandoren and Portia Collins

Opulent Obsession, book 3 - Rafe Jackson and Fallon Perry

Inherited Malice, book 4 - Beau Radcliff and Abilene West (or is that her name?)

I have really enjoyed reading this book and the series and I can’t wait until the final book, Lavish Corruption and Walker st. Claire’s Story. We will have to wait until 2022 for it. Fortunately each of these books can be read as standalones.

Delicate Revenge A Dark Secret Society Romance (Breaking Belles #5) by Alta Hensley and Stasia Black. It is now Emmett Washington's turn for his initiation into The Order. Unlike his friends who he attended high school with and have already been through the trials, he is not from old money but new money. He had always felt he had to be more and do more inorder to prove he was worthy. Bellamy Carmichael is from old money but now that money is gone. Her only hope is to be a belle. Since Emmett had a crush on her in high school Bellamy is sure he will pick her. Initially I was like what in the fifty shades of grey is going on here. Emmett is definitely no Christian Grey. Emmett put him to shame. Emmett has made a condition of Bellamy, inorder to stay his belle she has to sign a BDSM contract with all the bells and whistles. This was such a good story. I can say for me this story is the best in the series. Bellamy was more than a rich pampered spoiled princess and she has ever intention of keeping her eye on the prize and making it to the end. She accepts not only going through the trails but being Emmett's submissive. Emmett has a need for the control and going on his and Bellamy's journey is why this story is so good. Emmett is the ultimate Dom not only does he work Bellamy but the Elders as well. A 5 star read for me. Next up is Walker St. Claire.  The epilogue gave me just enough so I have no choice but to read the next book. And because of who his father is, I am curious to know more about their dynamics and Walker's demons.

This was a riveting story, great characters and a wonderful plot that I thoroughly enjoyed

I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of this book it was filled with wonderful characters and a simply great plot and I cannot explain how much you will enjoy every single moment of this amazing book.

He had never forgotten the crush he had on her since the first time he saw her since she had been at Darlington Prep and he had a crush on her but she had not even given him so much as a second glance and now the shoe is very much on the other foot.

Over ten years later and it seems that the tables have turned and this is because he is the one who has had shoe on the other foot, he is now one of the Elders and this has meant that his finances have grown tremendously and he is a millionaire in his own right.

Now Bellamy has found herself having to take part in the Belle Of The Midnight Ball, and it seems as though her life and luck has changed fairly dramatically. She is not totally sure of what to expect but she knows that she has no alternative.
I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.
I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.

In a town like Darlington, Emmette Washington was the odd man out. In a town where old money is more than status, the Washingtons are new money that has moved into town. 'Delicate Revenge', book six in the "Breaking Belles" series by Alta Hensley and Stasia Black is the story of his initiation into the Secret Ghost society. He's the nerdy math whiz who has made friends but doesn't always fit in. Of all his friends who have already been through this, Emmette is the one who needs this the least, at least financially. Emotionally, he wants their approval to feel like he finally belongs. Bellamy Carmichael is the girl in high school that sets the mark as an unobtainable elite princess. All the girls want to be exactly like her and all the boys want to have her. Appearances do not always portray the reality of a situation as this storyline tells. If you've followed this series at all, then you know the older members of the Silver Ghosts have a dark initiation these young men must go through. And the Belles? It's a catch 22 situation. The emotional turmoil these two must go through is both heartbreaking and exhilarating. There's only one more left of the circle of friends to go through the initiation and I can't wait to see what they put Walker through.

Emmett Washington comes from new money and has to prove to the Elders that he is worthy of joining the ranks of The Order of the Silver Ghost during his initiation.

109 days with a Belle of his choice and survive the trials the Elders had in store for them. Too easy. Until Bellamy Carmichael is standing in the line of 20 Belles in front of him.

Bellamy Carmichael is one of them. She’s one of the popular rich girls every boy had a crush on. So why is she here at Emmett Washington’s initiation? Because she and her mother are broke. Her father left them in debt when he died years ago. Her only way out of this financial mess, ist to secure status and money. Or so her mother says.

She’s hiding this truth, too afraid to be shamed to let it out. Will Emmett look past that? Or is he like everyone else in Darlington?

I think a deeper exploration of Emmett and Bellamy’s feelings towards each other during the “lack of trials” would have helped the feelings be more accurate. Other then that, another win in this series.

Deliciously decadent and so sinful. Delicate Revenge is dripping in the smolder with this new couple trying to join the ranks of The Order of the Silver Ghost.

Emmett Washington comes from new money and he's always had this need to prove himself among his friends and peers since his family moved to Darlington. The drive to be perfect and have the best runs deep. So winning the trials is all that matters to him, to gain the respect of the Elders, is another move in his life of perfection. To make that happen he needs the perfect partner and when his eyes land on Bellamy Carmichael, the queen bee who attended Darlington Prep with Emmett he knows he's found the perfect belle.

What secrets is she hiding and how has Bellamy landed in the position of a belle? Emmett isn't sure he wants to know. He will use her to his own purpose to gain what he needs, so why should he care, until he begins to.

This series has only gotten better and better with each book. This couple and their dynamic together was electric from the very beginning.Delicate Revenge had an underlying Dom/sub tone, which was delicious between the two of them and made the storyline even more dynamic.

I really wish the Elders of this Secret Society would finally get what's coming to them with all their nasty games & brutal shenanigans because I'm over those gross individuals. It is Emmett's turn with the Trials, and he was glad that Bellamy was the Belle he got to choose since he never got over how she treated them when they were in school together. I'm telling you, I wasn't a big fan of his for quite a bit because he never really cared why this girl was up for grabs, nope, instead he just went about his merry way at breaking her down, and performing the trials perfectly. I will say that these two were certainly hot as hell together, but I had Bellemy's back the entire way, and the things that he was down for happening just didn't impress me to be honest. That doesn't change the fact that no matter the rage I feel, I simply can't stop reading these books, and from what I understand, we're about to get the last book so I pray that those disgusting men called the Elders finally get theirs LOL! Anyway, enter at your own risk because the story is impossible to put down after picking it up! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Loved it..it was a bit different in that the Initiate and his Belle both had deep rooted insecurities that both wanted to keep hidden. Emmett was new money, but felt he never fit into the Darlington social standings because he wasn't old money. Bellamy is living a lie..outward appearances but hidden truths..her family is old money but has no money. Bellamy just wants people to see her for who she really is but her mother forces her into being a Belle. Emmett has always had a big crush on Bellamy since high school, so when she shows up as a Belle, he has no choice but to choose her. Emmett is not the lovesick school boy he once was..he is now a dom and has expectations....the biggest one is they must not fail these Trials...under any circumstances. Bellamy is shocked but knows what she has to do if she is to survive and complete the Trials. But with both having their own deep dark secrets, neither one is sure their heart will survive...especially after the Elders are done with them.
Loved the dom aspect and Bellamy's real personality...

Okay but not my favorite of the series

Delicate Revenge is the fifth book in the Breaking Belles series. I read the first three books in this series in the box set so I was looking forward to this book. While I liked Bellamy and Emmett's story I did find some parts a bit "unsettling" to me, and I read a lot of darker and twisted things. For me I just could not connect with either character and really just wanted to haul them to a spanking bench and tell them to grow up and become adults. So by the end I was done with both of them, which was disappointing to me as I had liked the previous books.

I received a copy of this book and am leaving my honest review. My opinions are all my own and I know that other readers will love this story. So if you have already read the previous books then definitely read Delicate Revenge and make up your own mind. BTW - these books are best read in order for the understanding of the overarching story-line and characters that weave throughout them.
