The whole thing felt rushed, with very little explanation for why things happened other than “because MAGIC”, no history, no world building, no science behind the magic, no character development.
I hate Malina’s story. I hate that she’s supposed to be one of the three prophesied queens, but her story is so watery. Not even icy. Malina’s entire character arc is bitch-to-not-quite-as-bitchy. And the other queen is Saria who we don’t really get to know anything about at all.
The whole dragon thing felt so random, and it didn’t even get a name? And it came back from death. If a manifestation of a smoke monster can even actually die…
Speaking of dying, the “coming back from death even stronger than before with absolutely zero consequences” trope is so abused.
I was honestly more sad for Slade that he thought she was dead, because I was utterly unconvinced that she was dead frfr no cap.
Overall, i found myself skimming And but the end straight up skipping pages. And there are still plot holes. And WHY. ...more

Everyone warns her about a bad boi (TM) and despite her fear, he’s the most beautiful man she’s ever seen. He flirts with her shamelessly and teaches her to read (sorry that’s ACOTAR). She tries to avoid him but is forced to be close to him out of necessity so she can win the hunger games… oopsie wrong book. She ends up slutting it up with him which is a huge surprise to everyone except no one. Then she finds out nothing is as it seems and her love has betrayed her (or rather just had some communication issues) and so she has to fight monsters so she can return to her golden castle with King Midas - nope, I mean bring peace to the galaxy, agh!- I mean the kingdom of Navvvavavavnrrr or whatever.
Overall this book was a fun and fast read, a guilty pleasure trip - that if your eyes can handle the amount of rolling they’re about to do - you’ll enjoy it....more
