It has a crazy family history, characters that have barriers for one reason or another and sad moments.
This was a book that took on the rawness of the cards you are dealt in life. It shows how love can blossom even when you don't think it is possible. I cried my way through this book because of the way Adrian and Vanessa loved each other even through flaws that would make anyone dip out immediately.
I don't think I have read a romance novel that took on this much baggage and was able to successfully and realistically create this romance story that was absolutely stunning and heartbreaking.
I am very excited to read the other two books in the series because Abby Jimenez really knows how to write! She has great comic relief, lovable characters and has amazing pacing. If you have not read a book by her yet, I highly recommend you pick one up ASAP!...more

Stella is a perfect example of character I completely understand why this novel is so hyped! You can't help but be drawn in from the very first page. Stella is a perfect example of character development. Her need to keep her autism quiet is heartbreaking, but also so accurate. Being able to see my sister's feelings, actions and reactions within the pages was refreshing. It is not often that you get a main character that has autism, where it is also not her whole personality. Stella was so much more than her autism even if at times she did not feel the same way.
Then we have the magnificent Michael. Like I am legit obsessed with him. The patience and suaveness that he has just makes you fall in love with him even more. He is a perfect example of a good guy who got dealt a shitty hand. I am so glad that Helen Hoang didn't make him be a bad boy because personally that just isn't my thing. I love the good guys. The ones who despite their circumstances are genuinely good. Throughout the story, Michael was overwhelmingly good, no matter how he thought of himself.
Overall, this is ultimately a story about two people that feel like they aren't good enough for love because of their past that they never asked for or because of their diagnosis. If you are looking for a romance that is not only super steamy, but a book that shows the beauty of people and cultures, this is a book that will check all the boxes....more

This was everything that I I read this book at the most perfect time. I received the arc for this book last year and never got around to it until now.
This was everything that I needed right now. It gave me A Good Girl's Guide To Murder vibes and I became obsessed with this book. It was engaging and surprising. I had no clue who was taking all of the girls until the big reveal happened. I was shocked and it was brilliant.
With conversations about privilege, sexism, justice and who really matters when they go missing, this is a stunning book that brings to light that truth of who really matters in the eyes of law enforcement.
This was my first Andrea Contos book and I hope that there are more thrillers to come. Contos is a genius when it comes to setting up a perfect thriller and stringing the reader along to only have our mouths drop when the truth is revealed. Do I wish I read this earlier? Yes, but also I don't think I would have appreciated it as much as I do now....more

I had expected a lot from it because of the hype and it did not disappoint. This is a truly thought out book that makes you feel as if you are Nora and you must make these decisions as well. I liked getting to see the many lives that the midnight library had to offer and all the different outcomes that could happen because of one slight change. Quantum Physics and Schrödinger's cat has always interested me so this book was basically made for me to love.
The Midnight library doesn't just give you an intricate science lesson, but it teaches you about mental health, learning to be okay with the way your cards fall and that you never truly know how you life will end up....more

I kept falling in love with the story and getting bored. When something would pique my interest, immediately after the story would feel like it was dragging on. But the beginning and end of this book really sold it for me. The meaning behind this book and the lessons you learn about humanity is absolutely beautiful and heartbreaking.
I did hate the open ended ending but I understand why it was necessary. The reader must decide what happened next. I thought it was a great ending even though it was so frustrating. I think if you like science fiction novels this is a good book for you, but if you haven't read any or much sci-fi, I would start with something less twisty and confusing with all the timelines that are happening at once....more

This book is an absolutely stunning novel about loss and moving on without forgetting. Each of these characters is so beautifully written and each go through a journey as they are dealing with the grief of losing Sam. This book displays the many different ways that people grieve which is very insightful considering that most of us just assume that everyone grieves like we grieve.
I found myself connecting with Julie a lot as we followed her dealing with her future and present falling apart. She had a plan and little did she know that that plan could be destroyed in seconds. The way she dealt with Sam's death was very similar to how I grieve. I could not help but feel like I was going through this devastating time and that I had to hold onto Sam as long as possible. By the end of the book, I was sobbing because I did not want to let any of these characters go. When I reached the final page, I immediately wanted to start from the first chapter even though I know the story wouldn't change. And I wouldn't want this masterpiece to change in the least. It was a perfect novel and I think it is officially one of my favorite books of all time.
To fully understand the impact that this novel has you have to read it for yourself. You have to grieve with these characters and follow them on this heartbreaking journey that is so beautiful that you won't want to miss it....more

When I first started reading it, I was put off by the writing style but soon fell in love with Connell and Marianne. I wanted to understand them as a duo and understand them as people. As the story went on and the years passed by in their life, I began to relate to both characters in different ways especially Marianne.
I believe this is a story about complex people but yet they are still so normal. In our current society, complex is normal and being flawed is okay. We are all stumbling through life and reflecting on the past and how we got to where we are in this moment. We wonder what if we made a different choice. What if we detached ourselves from someone we were so drawn to? It's a game of wondering but still time moves on and we must continue on whether we wish to or not....more

I will warn you that the characters are so unlikable it seems like you could never fall in love with this book for the first 100 pages of it. But as the plot becomes more clear and truths and lies become intertwined, I found myself bawling through the rest of the book.
Micah and Janie are both toxic in their own ways with side characters that are just as toxic and disgusting. But Micah and Janie both have a charm to them that makes you still feel for them when they are going through something difficult. The writing is gorgeous and the way that fairy tales and reality are compared is absolutely perfect for a book filled with metaphors.

Salvador, Sam and Fito are flawed characters that you can't help but fall in love with. They are all going through different struggles while also dealing with their worlds falling apart. Somehow they are able to keep their heads above water with the help of each other and their close-knit friendship. I absolutely loved Salvador and Sam's connection and the way they interacted with each other.

They all have a similar formula when it came to a dystopian world, but they are all still so unique to themselves. I absolutely fell in love with America and Maxon. I feel like they are such complex characters that know what they want, but also have no clue what they need.

You get to see two ways that girls are manipulated by boys in high school and I think that that is something unique about this novel. You have Ali's perspective of being raped and her working through the process of figuring out what exactly happened to her. Ali is also on a journey to find her new normal.
Then you have Blythe's perspective of being manipulated mentally by the guy who raped Ali. He tricks her into befriending Ali just to save his own ass from his actions. These two perspectives are both gorgeously written and absolutely heartbreaking. Although at times you want to hit Blythe upside the head, you begin to understand that she is a victim in a different way.
I believe this is a book that everyone needs to read because it explains the difficulties of not only being a girl in high school, but it highlights the ways in which girls are pitted against each other and the ways in which we have to keep up a façade that nothing is wrong in our lives.
This book also hit close to home for me because I dealt with a similar circumstance in high school and felt so many of the feelings that Ali did. I connected with her and I think I will always feel tied to her....more

At the beginning, I was a bit confused because it had been a while seen I read AGGGTM, but as it went on I started to remember most of the characters and was able to place the new characters introduced. The only character that I legit do not have any recollection of that was apparently in the first book was Connor, but I think that was just me.
Overall, I think this was a wonderfully done mystery just like the first book. It was intriguing with so many twists and turns that you never knew how it was going to end. I loved the growth that we saw in Pip as well. She is growing into herself and we find out a lot about who she really is and who she wants to be besides just a good girl. We also see a lot more about the justice system with the continuation of a trial from the previous book.
I do not recommend trying to read this series out of order because although they are about different cases, there is a lot of stuff that continues over from the first book.
I am trying to wait as patiently as possible for my pre-order of As Good As Dead to arrive on my doorstep because I need to know how Pip's story ends. If you haven't picked this series up, I think this is the perfect series to read during spooky season....more

WThis book is not what I originally thought it would be like. I was surprised by the way this story panned out and the way it focused on Wall Street. When I started this book I was unaware that it was about Wall Street Bankers and the corruption and misogyny that comes with being in the finance industry.
I think that this is a fantastic book filled with twists and turns but also a book that is an interesting game of who will win in the banking world. Who beats who and what sinister thing did they have to do to get where they are now in their career. Whose ass did they have to kiss to get where they are. If you are looking for a book that isn't too heavy and just a fun escape room book, I do not recommend this novel. This is a novel filled with thought and formulated to a tee. This is a very calibrated book and makes your mind really think about what is going on behind the scenes. Wall Street's antics are truly revealed in this novel....more

Going into this one, I was unsure if I would enjoy it because I don't really like books dealing with music, but I was completely taken aback by this novel. Although it was about music, it was about so much more. This novel is about friendship, grief, senseless death, injustices, knowing where you come from and knowing that you must do what is right even though there may be consequences.
I also found this book filled with facts about black history and New York that you won't find in your history books. This is not just a book about grief and what black people are subjected to because of the economic wealth gap but it is a story of the ways in which black people are more than their struggles and grief. This is a book about building a community that no longer will stand for senseless crimes. A community that no longer lives by a set of rules that decides whether you live or die. A community that will hear a new and upcoming artist and dance together...freely and without fear....more

Not only is it about a woman finding her way in the world after being controlled by the men in her life for her entire life, but it is just beautifully written.
I think this was the exact book I needed right about now. It was powerful, it was sexy and it was filled with raw characters. I related to Nina a lot because of all the critiques she kept getting for changing herself into the person she wanted to be. She became the person she wanted to be and if that meant leaving those who disapproved, that was okay. Your happiness matters more than keeping someone around that only talks down to and about you.
This is definitely a novel that I will think about for a long time.
I think this is perfect if you are looking for a powerful feminist novel and love a good romance as well. It is a happy medium between the two and I cannot believe it took me so long to read something by Jill Santopolo. I will be reading all of her adult work now....more
