This book takes some time to get the ball rolling but once it does I wasn’t able to put it down. The Pov’s from all 3 of the sisters paints a better picture of what is going on rather than us following just one and really aids in the world building
One of the things that made me give it four and a half instead of 5 was the sheer scope of characters and world building. I would have suggested a list of characters but that was thankfully done for the front of the second book so it seems it was understood we needed it.
There is an underlying tension in this book that I really enjoyed and kept me reading way later into the nights than I likely should have been. Plot twists were well executed and that ending....more

That being said I really liked this book I didn’t read David Arnold first book yet but after reading Kids of Appetite I want to get it in my hands pronto. David Arnold’s writing style is beautiful and poetic in a way that I’ve seen only a few authors pull off. "We are all part of the same story, each of us different chapters. We may not have the power to choose setting or plot, but we can choose what kind of character we want to be." This is one of my favorite quotes from the novel and it’s also one that seems to encompass the feeling of the novel quite well. The book alternates between chapters narrated by Vic and Mad, and also shifts between the present, during which a police investigation is taking place, and eight days prior, when Vic meets Mad and her friends. The dual perspective helps a lot with this novel, it’s done really well and you never second guess whose headspace you are in Vic being more poetic and repeating lines and Mad falling into clear cut and sarcasm. Needless to say I loved these characters as well as the rest of the cast of characters in this novel, you never mistook anyone with each other and it showed that David Arnold put in research into both the events in which 3 main characters are based off of. The story is a little slow paced at first but the story itself never seemed to drag, if anything it help build around the plot, knowing why things unfurled the way that they did. In the end I gave this book a 4 and ½ stars, it's one of my favorite books I’ve read so far this year and if you have been following my instagram you know I’ve been highlighting and underlining amazing quotes and lines in this book, there is so much to love....more
