it was amazing

Out of the 4 Sanderson secret projects this year, Yumi and the Nightmare Painter was definitely the best, but this one is a very close second.

A small warning for people who may care, this book does have some minor spoilers for Stormlight books that have yet to be written, as it is about a character from The Stormlight Archive AFTER the events of that series. Sanderson does his best to write a meaningful story for this character without spoiling anything, but there were a few little things he did have to give away to fully develop the character arc in this book.

I'm actually kind of amazed at Sanderson's imagination in these secret project books. He's made 3 Cosmere worlds that are extremely imaginative and very different from each other, as well as being very different from anything here on earth. And he has a real talent for making these completely alien worlds seem commonplace. He also has a talent for thinking up some truly horrifying costs for his magic systems.

Anyway, this is a great little story about redemption. It gives a pretty cool look at what is happening out in the Cosmere at large. And it gives a pretty prominent background Stormlight character his own little adventure, which was nice. But, again, do be aware of the spoilers for future Stormlight books.
