ᝰ.ᐟ introduction
I heard people talking about how disturbing this book was. and since I had nothing else to do with my life and wanted to broaden my reading taste, I decided to give this one a shot! and it’s dark academia? it was just calling to me. when I pictured what this book was about by looking at the title and cover, I thought, “oh, what a cute bunny! how can this be disturbing?” . . .
ᝰ.ᐟ characters
it was hard to feel connected to the characters because, mostly, I kept forgetting their names. they had their real names and then different nicknames — it was hard to keep up with them at times.
ᝰ.ᐟ storyline
basically, the plot is about a university student who sort of ends up in a cult in which they do rituals on bunnies…real, alive bunnies. if I had to summarize it in one sentence, that’s what I would say. did I feel uncomfortable and nauseous the entire time I was reading this? yes. (although that may be an exaggeration) did I love this book? also yes. this book was more focused on the characters rather than the plot, which I loved!! for the first half or two-thirds, I was kind of dragging it. but as soon as I got to part three, I was so hooked and could not put it down oh my god!! this literally had my stomach churning.
ᝰ.ᐟ writing style
I felt iffy about the writing at first, especially towards the beginning because it just seemed like the narrator was just rambling and rambling a lot. but, at the same time, I didn’t mind it because that’s would one would see if they peeled inside my own mind. I’d say it is realistic in a sense. weird, but not bad.
ᝰ.ᐟ lets wrap it up
if you want to read a weird, disturbing, unpredictable, gut-wrenching, nauseating, fucked up book involving a university with a dark narrative and creepy cult-like cliques, this is the book for you. this book will be on my mind for a while, and I don’t regret reading this.
long story short, this book definitely had an affect on my psychological well-being. thank you for listening to my ted talk.
