Gravitec Systems Inc. Now Offering GWO-Certified Training
for the Wind Energy Industry
By Wilo Castillo, Senior Training Advisor
We’re excited to share that Gravitec Systems Inc. is now officially certified by the Global Wind Organisation (GWO) to offer specialized safety training for the wind energy sector. With GWO Certificate Number: 253728, this is just another step in our ongoing mission to deliver top-tier safety education. After nearly 40 years of providing safety training to a wide range of industries, we’ve developed the expertise needed to teach fall protection in the demanding environments of wind energy.
Course Objective: Safety at Heights for the Wind Energy Sector
Our GWO Working at Heights course is designed to prepare participants to work safely and confidently at height. The course goes beyond theory, focusing on practical skills to meet the unique challenges of the wind industry. By the end of the course, you’ll have a solid understanding of safety protocols and the confidence to apply them effectively in real-world situations. This is achieved by following GWO requirements and incorporating the proven training methodologies of ANSI/ASSP Z490.1 – Criteria for Accepted Practices in Safety, Health, and Environmental Training.
Training Overview
Participants will receive hands-on training in essential safety practices, including:
– Proper use of fall protection equipment such as harnesses and lanyards.
– How to conduct safety checks and pre-use inspections of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
– Emergency procedures, including self-rescue and assisting others in rescue operations that include both automatic descent control devices and manual descent control devices.
– Real-world experience through simulations that mimic wind turbine environments, ensuring practical and effective learning.
Our Trainer Certification Process
Our trainers are more than just knowledgeable—they’re certified through a rigorous four-step process to ensure they deliver the highest quality instruction. This affords us the opportunity, through our accreditation with the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET), to issue CEUs. This accreditation provides our clients with the reassurance that they are receiving the highest quality of training when contracting with Gravitec.
- Participate: Trainers first experience the course as students to gain firsthand knowledge of the content.
- Observe: They then observe seasoned GWO trainers to learn best teaching practices and how to engage students.
- Co-Deliver: Under supervision, trainers co-lead the course to build confidence in presenting all aspects of the module.
- Deliver Under Observation: Finally, they independently deliver the module while being observed to ensure they meet Gravitec’s high standards.
Accreditation and Course Certification
Our GWO Working at Heights course is accredited by the International Association of Continuing Education and Training (IACET), ensuring that the certification participants receive is globally recognized. All courses are led by WINDA-certified trainers, meaning that our training not only meets but exceeds international safety standards.
Continuous Improvement Through Feedback
At Gravitec, we believe in continuous improvement. We actively gather feedback from participants to ensure that our courses remain cutting-edge and adaptable to the evolving needs of the wind energy industry. This feedback helps us fine-tune our training to keep it both relevant and impactful.
