Location
Studio Centro de Arte Moderna GulbenkianIn the aftermath of the 2016 presidential elections in the United States of America, which led to Donald Trump’s victory, the documentary shows the small rural town of Monrovia, in the state of Indiana, illustrating how values such as community service, duty, spiritual life, generosity and authenticity are formed and experienced.
Monrovia, Indiana gives us a complex view of the interior of the USA and allows us to understand a conservative way of life whose influence and strength has not always been recognised or understood in large American cities, as well as to assess its impact on the country’s legislative landscape.
