Johnson finished the 2024 regular season with 497 scrimmage yards and four touchdowns on 59 touches across 17 games, and his 289 offensive snaps were his most since the 2021 campaign with the Jets. Johnson figures to reprise his role as a kick return specialist and backup running back behind James Cook for the 2025 campaign.
Johnson had five carries for 19 yards and secured his only target for a gain of zero yards during 32-29 loss to the Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game. Johnson worked behind backfield leader James Cook, and above rookie fourth-round pick Ray Davis, during Buffalo's narrow season-ending loss to Kansas City. While suiting up for all 17 regular-season games, Johnson compiled 41 carries for 213 yards (5.1 YPC) and one touchdown, while also hauling in 18 of 25 targets for 284 yards and another three scores. He compiled 130 kick return yards, as well. Johnson is set to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
Johnson carried the ball nine times for 44 yards and caught both his targets for 26 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 31-7 wild-card round win over the Broncos. The 11 touches represented Johnson's biggest volume of the year, and he capped the performance with a sliding circus catch on a 24-yard TD late in the third quarter. The veteran depth RB's big day came about in part because Ray Davis left the game just after halftime with a concussion following a big hit from Brandon Jones. If Davis doesn't get cleared through the concussion protocol in time to suit up for a divisional-round clash with the Ravens next weekend, Johnson would be in line for a bigger role once again, albeit against a stingier opponent.
Johnson rushed twice for 13 yards and caught one of his two targets for no gain in Sunday's 23-16 loss to the Patriots. Johnson played 17 of the Bills' 67 offensive snaps in the contest, behind Ray Davis (35) and James Cook (15). With Buffalo already locked into the No. 2 seed before the game, the Bills chose to rest many of their key players for all or most of the contest. Johnson remained in his similar role, while the rookie Davis benefitted the most with expanded playing time. The veteran will continue to operate in a supporting role behind starter Cook when the Bills host the Broncos in the wild card round of the playoffs.
Johnson rushed four times for 16 yards and caught his lone target for nine yards in Sunday's 40-14 win over the Jets. Johnson was mostly an afterthought in the Bills victory over the Jets, producing a modest 25 total yards in the contest. The veteran finished second in running back snaps (21), behind James Cook (32) and ahead of Ray Davis (16). Buffalo has clinched the No. 2 seed in the playoffs, so it's possible that head coach Sean McDermott could choose to rest his starters in the season finale. In that scenario, Johnson and Davis could both see an uptick in usage in place of Cook. The Bills will host the Patriots in Week 18.
Johnson rushed six times for 30 yards and failed to reel in his lone target in Sunday's 24-21 win over the Patriots. Johnson wasn't able to get much going Sunday despite leading all Bills running backs in playing time. The veteran handled 23 offensive snaps while James Cook and Ray Davis played 21 and 14 snaps, respectively. While Cook is the clear favorite for valuable running back touches in Buffalo's offense, Johnson remains an unreliable fantasy option heading into a Week 17 matchup against the Jets.
Johnson rushed twice for nine yards and caught all five of his targets for 114 yards in Sunday's 48-42 win over the Lions. Johnson's 123 scrimmage yards were by far a season high for the running back. The veteran led the team in receiving yards despite playing just 30 percent of the Bills' offensive snaps in the contest. Although he had an impressive performance against the Lions, Johnson's inconsistent usage and production make him difficult to trust for fantasy. Barring an injury to starter James Cook, Johnson should not be relied upon in the fantasy playoffs. The Bills will host the Patriots in Week 16.
Johnson caught two of three targets for 55 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 44-42 loss to the Rams. Johnson failed to record a single carry in the contest despite playing the second most offensive snaps (21) at running back behind starter James Cook (27) and ahead of Ray Davis (13). Johnson's touchdown was his third receiving touchdown on the season, bringing him to four total scores through 13 games. Most of the 27-year-old's yardage total Sunday came from his touchdown, which was a 41-yard pass from Josh Allen in the second quarter. Despite finding the end zone, Johnson holds little fantasy utility barring injuries to either Cook or Davis. The veteran will get his next chance to build off this performance when the Bills visit the Lions in Week 15.
Johnson rushed five times for 28 yards and secured his lone target for nine yards in Sunday's 35-10 win over the 49ers. Johnson saw five opportunities on the ground for the second-straight game, but the veteran was unable to make much happen with his limited attempts. The 27-year-old played just 16 of the Bills' 58 offensive snaps, behind starter James Cook (26) and rookie Ray Davis (19). Barring injuries, Johnson should continue to be ignored for fantasy purposes as the Bills square off against the Rams in Week 14.
