Conway, Ark. - It was tough sledding for Hendrix on Saturday as they were dominated on both sides of the ball by Berry in a 42-13 defeat at Young-Wise Memorial Stadium.
Both teams traded possessions before the Vikings took an 8-0 lead late in the first quarter. However, it took the Warriors no time to respond, as on the very first play of the ensuing possession,
Jacob Buniff connected with
Kanyn Utley for a 65-yard touchdown. The score was left at 8-6 after Hendrix failed to convert on their two-point attempt.
From there, it was all Berry. The Vikings found the end zone on their next four possessions to go up 29-6. Hendrix would get back on the board with a little over three minutes remaining in the half with Buniff finding Utley for their second touchdown connection of the half. That would be the last scoring drive for the Warriors on the afternoon.
Hendrix was limited to just 10 first downs on Saturday. Offensively, the lone bright spot was Utley, who recorded a career-high 176 yards on 7 receptions with 2 touchdown receptions.
Defensively,
Keaton Hahn was responsible for the Warriors' lone takeaway with his third-quarter interception.
Jayvian Coulter led Hendrix with two pass breakups.
Hendrix (3-3, 1-2 SAA) now hits the road to take on Centre in Danville, Ky.
