Whether you like it or not, car companies are now electrifying their pickup trucks. We saw Ford announce its upcoming Project T3 a couple of weeks back. And now, after a Super Bowl reveal in February, Ram has come back with some new specs for its first-ever electric pickup truck.
Debuting in-person at the New York International Auto Show, the Ram 1500 REV will be ready for the 2025 production year and boasts some impressive numbers. Sporting a new STLA Frame architecture with a body-on-frame design, the truck will be available with two battery options: the 168kWh pack and the larger 229kWh pack — with 350 miles and a remarkable 500 miles of range, respectively. That’s enough to get you from New York City to Toronto on a single charge! There’s also an 800-volt DC fast charge that can give you around 110 miles of extra range in about 10 minutes. If that’s somehow not sufficient for you, Ram promises a future 1500 REV XR model that will feature a “class-shattering range.”
Remember, the standard Ram 1500 is already a more-than-capable pickup truck with a payload upwards of 2,000lbs. However, the electrified 1500 REV claims it can haul up to a whopping 2,700lbs, with a towing capability of 14,000lbs thanks to a powertrain that delivers 654hp and 620lb.ft of torque. Likewise, the truck can do 0 to 60 in 4.4 seconds. On-site powering capabilities will give you 7.2kW out of the rear and 3.6kW out of the 15-cubic-foot frunk. Interior options include carbon fiber trims and leather material, with a 14.5-inch touchscreen and a 10.25-inch passenger screen. For the top-shelf Tungsten package, the vehicle will feature 23 speakers from Klipsch and dual wireless chargers.
