Knowing how Apple has seeped into every corner of our lives, Porsche Classic figured it was about time to wheel out a line of CarPlay-compatible infotainment systems to the 911 models of yesteryear. By expanding its line of products, the marque has bolstered and modernized the Porsche Classic Communication Management (PCCM for short) systems entirely.
Functionality-wise, the PCCM and PCCM Plus provide all the typical, tech-forward features you can expect in a brand-new car off the lot. The crisp touchscreen display is available in two sizes — 3.5” or 7” — and includes user-friendly access to SiriusXM, Apple CarPlay, and Google Android Auto, the latter of which only appears on the Plus configuration. Additionally, Porsche claims any other smartphone can still be connected via Bluetooth. Best of all, the mapping system is modern, too, as route guidance is offered in your choice of 2D, 3D, or a standard arrow view.
The new pair of devices include the PCCM and PCCM Plus, the first of which is operable for all 911 vehicles from the iconic F-Model (1964) all the way to the type 993 (1994). Additionally, the PCCM is compatible with the 914, 959, 928, 944, and 968, allowing each famous example to bask in seamless Bluetooth connectivity. Meanwhile, the PCCM Plus is suitable for all Porsche vehicles up to the model year 2008 (barring the Carrera GT and Porsche 356), promoting a much easier integration. Nonetheless, the Stuggart marque claims that each system is easy to integrate into the dashboard.
