Per source, Phoenix has remained the most aggressive Butler suitor. There isn’t a lot out there for Heat, which is steadfast against taking Beal contract. Per @KevinOConnorNBA , though Warriors inquired on Butler, Curry and Kerr have concerns about Butler’s fit in Warriors locker – 4:09 PM

James Harden has passed Rod Strickland in assists and is No. 13 all-time now. Yes, he’s higher in assists than in scoring.
Also: Stephen Curry moved ahead of Ray Allen for No. 27 in NBA history. Nikola Jokic passed Shawn Kemp for No. 150. – 3:45 AM

OKC is my current pick to win the title. And they’d win a series against GSW.
But the Thunder would HATE to deal with the Warriors in a playoff match. Especially an underdog Curry team with nothing to lose. – 12:33 AM

Steph had Isaiah Joe isolated. Hartenstein’s man came to screen Curry. But Hartenstein and Lu Dort came to trap Curry.
It’s theoretically a good gameplan. But must mix in some iso or Curry will remain out of rhythm. If he gets 1v1, he needs to take it – 11:26 PM

Cason never got the ball to Shai due to the 3-second call, but the guard-to-guard screen with Shai sealing Curry back to the basket should be there all night and create mismatches. – 10:25 PM

Steph Curry is cleared to play tonight vs Thunder. Sounds like Quinten Post could enter the starting lineup. Steve Kerr wouldn’t reveal, but joked he’s trying to “set a record” for most starting lineups used in a season. – 8:20 PM

More on this storyline

Phoenix might not be a likely option for a Butler deal, but the Golden State Warriors could be one, sources told me. The Warriors — with their history of pursuing star players, plus their standing at the edge of the play-in mix in the Western Conference — would be an intriguing possibility for Butler’s services, as the combination of him and Stephen Curry could be a formidable one over the course of a seven-game series. And, as the saga between Butler and the Heat has dragged on, Miami’s ask could be low enough to entice Golden State to make a move now, while leaving room for other moves this summer. -via ESPN / January 31, 2025
