BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — Idaho Power announced plans Friday to open campgrounds and more boat ramps by late May or early June.
Idaho Power could reopen a few campgrounds as soon as May 29 depending on the state Idaho is in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We are still in very uncertain territory, and we will continue looking to the governors and public health officials for guidance as we move forward,” said Fred Noland, recreation supervisor for Idaho Power.
Idaho Power manages more than 60 locations along the Snake River, including campgrounds in Hells Canyon, C.J. Strike and Swan Falls reservoirs. All of which were closed by mid-March.
The opening is in line with the Rebound Idaho plan's third phase. Click here for a full list of openings.
“The more people we have in those areas, the more likely it is that someone will need help or will interact with our employees there,” Nolan said. “Our main goal is to ensure that all employees, especially people who work 24/7 to keep the lights on, can remain healthy and keep doing their jobs.”
