By law, children still in the womb are not yet accounted for by the government, and are still not subject to the protections by law. It is only literally illegal to kill it after the the birth certificate is signed. Try going through the pain of childbirth before you come to a conclusion

Did my own search and found out the US only passed a law in this regard in 2004 regarding the unborn. (Abortions have an exemption). Before that if a pregnant women was murdered only she was considered in the prosecution.
