In just several days, sculptor Simon Verity recreated a 13th century statue head that was once in the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris and is now part of the Nasher Museum of Art's collection. Duke students and museum staff learned a lot by observing the sculpture come to life. This is really making me crave summer and the beach. This pic makes me forget, for just a minute, that it was -24 here this morning. The stones have been gathered from my (very sandy) yard, carved, and rubbed with beeswax so the carving is more distinct. I've then attached a neodymium magnet to the back with 2-part epoxy.
