Wife of BJP MLC’s uncle arrested for his murder following a 5 lakh supari

Among the total five suspects arrested till now by Pune police is Akshay Harish Jawalkar alias Sonya (29), a former tenant of the deceased who allegedly gave the 'supari' as a fallout of a past enmity with the deceased.

Few minutes later he met Nilesh Sodnar, a resident of the same area who was also on a walk.

IN A major twist in the contract killing of Satish Wagh, the maternal uncle of BJP legislator Yogesh Tilekar, the Pune police have arrested Wagh’s wife on charges of being part of the conspiracy to eliminate her husband.

The probe by Pune police’s Crime Branch had revealed the kidnapping and murder of Wagh was a contract killing for which a ‘supari’ of Rs 5 lakh was allegedly paid to the hired assailants.

“On Wednesday, we arrested Mohini Wagh (48), wife of the deceased, on charges of her involvement in the conspiracy to kill her husband. She will be produced before a court on Thursday when we will seek her police custody for interrogation,” said a Crime Branch officer.

Mohini is the sixth arrest in the case. Five others were arrested in the case earlier, including Akshay Harish Jawalkar alias Sonya (29), a former tenant of the deceased who allegedly gave the ‘supari’ as a fallout of past enmity.

Satish Sadba Wagh (55), a resident of Manjari Budruk, was kidnapped around 6.20 am on December 9 when he was on a morning walk near his house. In the evening the same day, around 12 hours after he was kidnapped, his body was found at Shindavane village near Yavat, around 50 km from Pune city. Probe revealed that Wagh was stabbed to death and was also beaten with a blunt object. Wagh, who was a farmer and also owned a small eatery, is survived by his wife Mohini and sons Omkar and Abhishek. Wagh was the maternal uncle of BJP leader and MLC Yogesh Tilekar. The investigation of the case was transferred to the Crime Branch from the local police.

Probe has revealed that around 6.15 am on December 9, Wagh had left his house for his morning walk. A few minutes later, he met Nilesh Sodnar, a resident of the same area. Within moments, Sodnar heard screams of Wagh who was being forced into an SUV by some persons. They fled the spot with Wagh. Sodnar then ran to inform Wagh’s family. Subsequently, police were informed.
