From concept to reality? Lenovo’s rollable display laptop from MWC 2023 may soon hit the market

While the company has been showcasing rollable laptops for quite some time now, it looks like you may soon be able to buy one.
In a post on Substack, the known tipster Evan Blass shared images of what he believes might be Lenovo’s first commercial laptop with a rollable display. He went on to say that the “sixth generation Lenovo ThinkBook Plus” will be available for retail after the Chinese tech giant unveils it at the Consumer Electronics Show in January next month.
At first look, you may be reminded of Lenovo’s 2023 concept prototype, which also extended upwards to reveal a bigger screen. It also had a dedicated flip switch on the right of the chassis, which when flicked, caused motors in the laptop to start spinning and rolling out a screen from under the laptop, taking a little over 10 seconds to full extend a 15.3-inch display.

In the image, we can see that the upper half of the screen is being used to watch a video while the lower half of the display is covered by a document. It looks like the laptop will also offer some AI features and include the dedicated Copilot key, which Microsoft introduced earlier this year.
While Blass did not reveal any hardware specifications of the device, it will be interesting to see if Lenovo’s rollable laptop will cater to power users or turn out as a mid-range entertainment device. When Lenovo showcased its rollable laptop concept last year, the biggest worry was if the display could withstand everyday usage.
