Changes to Gry Maritha’s schedule – Wednesday 8th and Thursday 9th January 2025

Due to the forecast of strong winds on Wednesday 8th January, the decision has been made to adjust Gry Maritha’s schedule to avoid the worst of the sea conditions.

Updated schedule:

Gry Maritha will now depart Penzance at approximately 00:00 (midnight), arriving into St Mary’s at approximately 05:00 on Thursday morning.

The vessel will discharge all cargo on arrival and reload before departing St Mary’s later the same day to return to Penzance. 

Freight loading:

All freight booked for the outbound and return sailings will be accepted and loaded as normal.

Operational Update – Change to Gry Maritha’s Schedule – Monday 6th January 2025

Due to the forecast of adverse weather conditions, there has been a change to Gry Maritha’s schedule. The vessel will now operate a day trip on Tuesday 7th January 2025.

  • Departure: Gry Maritha will depart Penzance at approximately 08:00 and is expected to arrive at St Mary’s at around 13:00.
  • Turnaround: After unloading, the team will aim for a quick turnaround, with the vessel departing St Mary’s at 16:00.
  • Arrival: The estimated time of arrival back at Penzance will be 20:30.

Freight will be accepted and loaded at Penzance Quay on Monday 6th January 2025 as usual. Freight returning to Penzance will be unloaded on Wednesday 8th January 2025.

Operational Update – Gry Maritha Sailing Friday 20th December 2024

Following our previous updates regarding Gry Maritha’s mechanical issue, we are pleased to report that the replacement part was successfully installed this morning, and Gry Maritha has departed for St Mary’s as anticipated, at 09:20.

Gugh has also arrived back in Penzance after a round trip to the islands to help carry freight from Wednesday and Thursday’s disrupted journeys.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our customers and the island community for their understanding while we have worked to return Gry Maritha back into service.

Operational Update – Gry Maritha mechanical issue, Thursday 19th December 2024

Following the earlier update regarding Gry Maritha’s mechanical issue, we are pleased to report that we now have the replacement part. Subject to successful installation of this part, the plan is for Gry Maritha to sail tomorrow morning (Friday 20th December).

We are doing everything possible to minimise disruption to our freight service. Skybus freighter flights have so far carried 4.5 tonnes of freight today.  We have also scheduled an additional Gugh trip which will depart Penzance this evening.

Once again, we sincerely apologise for any disruption, particularly at this busy time of year. We are doing all we can to get the Gry moving again as soon as possible, ensuring the safety of our crew. We are committed to keeping you informed with updates as soon as they become available.

Gry Maritha Operational Update

All chilled, frozen and perishable goods booked onto tomorrow’s sailing (Friday 20th December 2024) will need to be delivered between 06:00 and 08:00.

Operational Update – Gry Maritha Mechanical issue, Thursday 19th December 2024

Following last night’s announcement concerning Gry Maritha’s mechanical issue, our team has been working through the night and this morning to formulate a plan to minimise disruption to our service.

The issue with vital navigational equipment has been identified, and a replacement part has been ordered, with plans for fitting to take place today (Thursday 19th).

At this time, we anticipate that Gry Maritha will be back in service tomorrow (Friday 20th), with additional Skybus flights organised to carry as much freight as possible over the course of today and tomorrow.

We sincerely apologise for any disruption this may cause, particularly at this busy time of year. We are doing all we can to get the vessel moving again as soon as possible, ensuring the safety of our crew. We are committed to keeping you informed with updates as soon as they become available.
